I TOLD HIM IN A LOAN YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY TO GET ONE AND I WAS VERY MAD AND TOLD HIM TO CANCEL AND NOT TO CALL ME ANY MORE.1 HR AFTER THAT IS WENT I GET A CALL FROM THIS INDIAN GUY SAYING HE IS FROM THE STATE ATTONERY OFFICE TO CALL 916-469-8829 AND THE OTHER # 916-469-8861.

They called out place of business looking for an employee whom I didn't recognize.  They stated that they were from the CA Attorney Generals Office In Sacramento and even gave me the address of 1300 I St. Sacramento, CA  - I then asked for the phone number and got this scam number.  Isn't it against the law to impersonate a state office?

I got two calls from one number on my way to work. I didn't answer either one on them. After the second call they left a voicemail. A couple hours later they called my employer wanting to talk to me. They told them I was unavailable to talk with them. I received the same MO kind of call a couple moths ago. Saying that I had a lawsuit against me and if I didn't pay $1400 in an hour that I would be arrested and jailed for 7 years and that after I was released from prison I wouldn't be able to get a job in the United States ever again.

Call me and my work saying they have a law suit against me that I'm  going to jail  for nine months called them and ask them question hanged up and won't answer there phones

These people are ruthless and rude. I get a call for someone no longer with the company, and I get called a liar. Sorry, that is how it is, sorry if your information is poor. Very heavy accents.  

Very upsetting that this number called my work many times over and over claiming it was important after I advised Ill call the police for harrassment they continued anyway. I advised for them to call my personal phone but they insisted. After being embarrassed at work, my boss offered to pick up. They told him after he advised for them not to harrass his employees, that it was my husband that would be arressted if I didnt call back. I went to take a personal call outside to talk with them. They wouldnt answer any of my questions on who it was with this legal action against me. I asked many times. They passed to the "attorney" who said he would answer my questions once he read me my criminal actions against me. His name was Edward McConnoley" indian accent, very hard to understand. He asked if I had an attorney, no I said, he said he would read the affidavid to me and not to interup since the call was recorded. He said I had 2 charges against me, one of them being credit fraud. After he was finished he asked if I had any questions. I said yes why havnt I been served this and who was it that had this against me. He still never said. He the cut me off and said are you going to take care of this or will we have to have you arrested. I said wait what do I have to do to take care of this, he said do you want to take care of it in office or be arrested. I said of course I dont want to be arrested, Ill take care of in office. He put me on hold and said he would need to find out if they could take care of it in office. He came back saying he talked to the courts and the jury said no they will continue to purse legal action. I was like are you kidding. How can we take care of this then. He said I would need to pay $1890 in an hour or he would send the police to come get me. I repeated it back you want this amount in an hour? He said do you have this money, I said no of course not. I then asked who is this against me? He said quickly oh thats the police department calling me back please hold. He put me on hold for 20 minutes!! I waited because I wanted answers, even though all I wanted was to get off the phone and call the police myself. But I waited. In this time I came back into my office and told my bosses everything. We proceeded to look up the number online and low and behold I read all your messages on this scam..Once he came back on the line, he asks have you made your decsion? I said hello and my boss said hey look we just looked you up and we see your nothing but a scam so stop calling here and stop harrassing or we will call the police. He said in a perfect no accent voice "YOU CAN GO S*** A D***" and hung up!. I realized after reading tons of comments online about this number and what they are doing that all this happened to me too!..
After several hours later they tried calling my personal phone but I couldnt get to it to yell at them again, however they called my work back hours after that again and started the harrassing again saying no this is really a legal matter that needs to be taken care of or the police would come. I stopped the guy and said look you already called here and we already know its a scam, stop calling stop harrassing or I will call the police. The guy said no it really needs to be taken care of. I said no your supposed "attorney" I talked to already and he said to "S*** A D***" do you really think Im going to listen to un professionals like that and not know Im being scammed?He said oh no we wouldnt say that, I repeated my self and then told him "NO YOU CAN STOP AND YOU CAN GO S*** A D*** STOP CALLING!" then I hung up. Havent heard back since...This needs to be stopped!!

This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

If your phone has a "block" feature on it, you may want to use it.  If not, Google "call blockers".  If you need to, print up this forum thread and give it to your HR Dept and/or boss (although he handled it well anyway) - so that they can see you're being harassed by foreign extortionist scammers.

This guy kept calling saying someone filed a lawsuit on me but scary part was he knew my SS#. I know they are scammers but nor sure how to report them.

These people are scam artists...do not fall for it, and do not pay them a cent.  They cannot arrest you, they are not even the real attorney general's office from the state of California.  I filed an official complaint with the real State Attorney General's Office website, and have not received any further calls.

Your callers are scammers.  Probably the best thing you can do is block their number(s).  If your phone doesn't have this feature, you may wish to Google call blockers and buy one - you can get a good one for $60 or less.

This number keeps calling me (over 20 times) on my cell & even got a hold of me at work claiming to be Attorney General Office since yesterday & practically all this morning. They are wanting me to pay something they claim I owe, but will not tell me what it is and the amount. How can I story this person(s) from calling? I know I don't owe anything. He asked if I had an attorney, and I asked him does he have one because I am going to report this...and he said GO AHEAD! Since then, he hasn't called.

If they are Saying u need to pay or u will be arrested, everything they are doing is violating fdcpa and u can file suit against them. Make them pay u for fraud, everything they are doing to collect your money 100% illegal. Even if they are not debt collectors they can still go to jail or have they're business shut down just for saying if u dont pay u will be arrested.

I got a call today after applying for a payday loan and being denied. The number who called me repeatedly was 916-469-8861 from gary wilson, who said thomas lynch was handling a case against me and if i didnt call him at 916-469-8829. He advised me that if i didnt call him "RIGHT NOW the sheirff would take me behind bars for 9 months." So i contacted he said he was from the state attorney generals in san francisco. So while i was talking to "thomas lynch" i googled all the info on the state attorney generals website, thomas lynch pasted away may 1985 when i told the info i found he told me he worked under kamala d Harris which was correct but thomas lynch pasted away he told me to hold on and hung up on me. I hope now these calls will stop since they now know i know this can only be scam. Also everytime i asked for more info they would place me on hold for over five minutes, allowing me time to google all this info.

I had a blast with this one. Applied for a online loan a week ago, and it seems like the whole nation of India has been calling. I had over 50 phone calls yesterday in an 8 hour period. This number called today and I already knew it was a scam. Guy called himself Eric Johnson (yeah, right. Not with that thick a** accent) said either myself or my attorney needed to contact him about a legal complaint regarding my ssn. If I didn't, a case would be opened the next morning (mind you, its Friday..... Don't know of any courts open on Saturday) and I would be arrested! Lol..... When I called whoever I spoke with wanted to know if I had an attorney
I said no. They asked if the sheriff dept had contacted me.  I told him no, and they won't because this is a scam. He started to argue with me so I asked what sheriff dept? He put me on hold . A minute later he gave me a name of the local police. I said what state are you in? He says Sacramento. I'm like, Sacramento isn't a state, so he started to argue again. The nail in his coffin was when I told him to tell me the name of the governor of CA...... Second time I asked he wanted to know why, and I said if you really worked for the DA's office in my state you would know, but you don't........ That ended that..........

After speaking with a man with an east Indian accent and explaining to.him I wasn't interested he continued calling soooo I just blasted my TV volume in the receiver and viola, no more phone calls.  

Same thing he calls, gives me my social security number. He then says I am gonna be arrested for Fraud!!

Omg maria the same person just called me today saying I have 3 charges pending on me theft an fraud collateral violation fed bank an if I don't pay $963 today that the police will come to my house an arrest me an I would go away for 9 years an when I asked where he was calling from an I dont even have an account he hung up on me they need to be prosecuted thats not right .

The same just happened to me but at home he said the police were coming too my house with a warrant to arrest me if I don't pay 963 dollars should I be worried ive never been in trouble with the law an im scared too lose everything when I did nothing wrong what do I do.

Received a call from this number, Brandon Gabriel, informed me that I needed to call this number stating that my SS number had been compromised. Thick accent, the line beeps prior to the voice activation. It appears that they are calling from outside the USA. Would not give the name of his Law Firm. Also, said that I was being sued.

I received a phone call at my place of employment from a "Jason Palmer" with a very heavy India accent. He left a message and I could barely understand the information he was telling me. In the voicemail he stated he was calling from the State Attorneys Office and me and my retained attorney must call him back immediately. He stated to not disregard the call and if I don't contact him all he can say is he "wishes me luck". Concerned and suspicious of the call,  I return the call. Another male with the same heavy accent answers "hello", instead of a proper and professional greeting any state worker is expected to say. I ask for Jason Palmer and he puts me on hold. Then he comes back and asks what number I'm calling from. I refused to tell him as he said he was just the operator. I told him then do his job and transfer the call to Jason Palmer. He just called me and apparently has business with me to handle. He has my info. The operator gets upset and says all he can say is that I'm "in legal trouble". I said then I would like to resolve this trouble so transfer the call. He puts me on hold again and says the line is busy. I said then send me to his voicemail or provide me with his direct line or ext. He does not know it and says he can try. I tod him this is fraud and they are a scam. This is not a professional state attorney office and I will report you all to the police. The male hung up on me.
