If you are receiving phone calls on your cell phone - there is a nice Android FREE app called Mr. Number.  I use it all the time.  My phone never rings and Mr. Number just automatically hangs up on them.  Problem solved.  :)

You should try giving them your son's number that lives in that other state you are talking about.

They call continuously, every day, but never leave a message when I don't answer, which I never do and have never done.  I can't understand why they bother.  Makes zero sense.

We've had our phones for about a month and I keep getting calls about student loans the previous holder of my number had. I've just been blocking them and reporting them to FTC because they don't say anything when I do answer, never leave a message when I don't answer. I have to google the number and all 4 of them are about student loans.

It's ECMC. They call me right in the middle of my work day and don't bother to leave a message. They are trying to reach my husband at MY CELLPHONE? Hello?! He has his own, start with that number first. The worst part is that they won't even talk to me even though I am his wife. They insist that they talk to him, and him only. So. F'ing. Stupid. They won't accept that even in writing I can talk to them. This is getting ridiculous.

I am 56 and unemployed. I get this call all the time. Once I answered. Lady says I applied for student loan. I think it is from applying for jobs. I told her to take me of call list. I am not interested in taking classes. But now they started calling again.

Why not just give them your son's phone number in the other state and encourage him to fulfill his obligations?

Debt Collector
We have received calls from "Ed Fund" and "ECMC" for about 4 years.  They are looking for our adult son who hasn't lived here in years and doesn't seem to care about paying them back.  I've spent 4 years explaining to them, being nice to them, being irritated with them, trying to block their calls with a Panasonic blocker and they're always back for more with another phone number.  I lost it this morning!  I screamed at the rep that "he doesn't live here anymore -- he hasn't for years -- and how many times do I have to tell you?"  I finally flung the phone which ended the call.

So I tried another tactic.  I called the number that they called from.  It took me about 10 minutes to get to the collections department.  I acted like a dumb old woman who barely knew what her own name was let alone the guy they were looking for.  The rep said they would remove our number from their call list.  We'll see if this really worked.  I'm not holding my breath.

Why???  Why???  Why do we have to play stupid mind-numbing games???  After 4 years of stating it -- HE REALLY DOESN'T LIVE HERE!  Really!  He really doesn't live here!  He's in a completely different state!  And I've told them and told them and told them.  And even if we offered to pay for some of the loan, we would have to get his approval in writing before we could, which he won't.  And after 4 years of their constant calling, I don't care what they want anymore!  I've reached my limit!  What does ECMC expect???  That after 4 years I'm going to hand them a bar of gold???  There are other ways to track people especially since they have his social security number.  These mind-numbing solicitor calls are making me want to get completely off the grid!!!  With an average of 15 solicitor calls a day, I lost it this morning!

Thank you for letting me rant and rave . . .

I have asked that they use the mail if they have something to say.

They call at all times, they don't care that I am asleep or working or driving. Each time I ask them not to call ... but they think that calling an old man with no money is going to somehow make money appear magically.

I was enrolled at Strayer University and they shopped my loan through Ed Fund. I didn't know about it. All of my other loans had been in forbearance and I re-entered school last semester. Got an automated FAFSA emailed to me saying that I had defaulted on a student loan and I was mystified to learn of the EdFund loan. Clearly- all of my other staffords were in forbearance for over a year but I am now in a rehab program through Ed Fund. Despite being in the rehab program (6 months of automated payments to clear default status) I still get calls several times each week from Ed Fund. Sometimes they leaave a message, sometimes they don't. They call my cell and my work. I've asked for work calls to stop so now they've increased calls to my cell. IT'S AN AUTO DRAFT EDFUND--- TAKE THE MONTHLY PAYMENT AND STOP CALLING ME ABOUT NEEDING TO MAKE A PAYMENT.

I used to get calls every day, now a couple times a week.  They never leave a message, and I don't answer numbers I don't recognize.  I got a loan from EdFund 3 years ago, but I didn't realize what I was doing. I had been told there would be no money paid out of pocket for my schooling and was under the impression that it was a grant.  I never finished the schooling because it was extremely convoluted and the classes didn't have anything to do with my field of study.  I am unemployed right now and can't pay them back. I am thinking of fighting it because the woman misled me into thinking it was a grant I wouldn't have to pay for.

I don't know about all of you guys, but I am sick of the calls. I got a loan through EdFunds that was later discharged buy the state of Kentucky because the school filed for bankruptcy while I was still enrolled in the school. I get two or more calls a day from them, except that when I answer the phone they hang up.

How come companies are aloud to either block their co. name, or phone number and or block both? I am unemployed and I keep getting calls from the same companies everyday during the week, at least twice a day. The only day they do not call is on Saturdays, then they wait til about 8:30pm on Sunday to start calling. I do get calls from Ed Fund Student Loan everyday and if I'm not here and someone else answers the call, they will not say where their calling from and will not leave a message. I am just fed up with the calls everyday.
