here's one that's floating around in WA state. i thought it was kind of odd that an hour after sending my resume to an ad posted on CL i got a response back. this time, the email popped up as a "Josh Garrett", but he signs "Carlos Torres". i'm glad i checked up on it or else i would have sent him some unnecessary information because i'm in desperate need of a job. watch out and hopefully no one ends up getting scammed by this!

I got the same email from my response to an employment ad, different phone. Never had a moment's doubt it was a scam.

Jessica and Karen, and anyone else who replied to this person, if you told him anything about hours when your house would likely have no one home "to receive packages," I would certainly think about getting an alarm system.

It's a shame that those of us who need work have to deal with this.

I was looking on Craig's list for a job.  There were 2 positions, one for a personal assistant (Illinois)  I questioned where the person was located (knew if was a scam.  He wrote me back.  I could tell immediately it was a scam.  It didn't make sense.  Then there was another job posted for a dispatcher and administrative assistant with no location.  I asked for the location.  He emailed back almost the same identical letter as the first scammer.  This is truly a shame for people who are looking for jobs.

i just received this same email, i even almost went through with it but from the beginning i didnt feel right he gave me the job even before talking to him i went to the point where we spoke on the phone and he had me do an ad on craigslist for him similar to the one we all sent our resumes too, i even received the check but when i saw the amount and him giving me his credit card info without knowing anything about me really tiped me off and i spoke to my whole family about thats when i decided to do research and found this. thanks so much from saving me from this beCAUSE I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED BEFORE AND WOULD HAVE HATED TO GO THROUGH IT AGAIN. I got this kind of email few month ago, and 2 days ago the same format as yours, I know this is a scam, because I only respond to his ad with question where is his location.
I still respond to him and ask where is his business in the state and tell me more about gallery in Australia.I also suggested he can have mail boxes set up. Pay attention to the time when he replied from Autralia.
Never give your address to a stranger, research the person or company before you respond to any job ad, I know this is a hard time for job hunting. Good luck.

I too received the same email this morning in my mailbox, word for word! At first glance it seems tempting but upon re-reading it there were a few red flags. Don't fall for this scam. Let's be wary of these too good to be true lies on craigslist. Best of luck to us all.

HERE WE GO AGAIN ! Different name, same scam ! Only difference is, this guy can't make up his mind if his last name is Martinez or Torres - he used both in the same correspondence ! It has now gotten to the point where I now longer want to apply to an employment "opportunity" on craigslist...( Please see my above April 10 post re: Johnson Hayes ) This guy is also asking illegal questions, i.e. age, sex etc. and THEN ask's you to sign an agreement - UNBELIEVEABLE ! So another WARNING, avoid this one too folk'sand I hope we all find legitimate, substanstial employment soon !

Just received the same scam  letter as everyone from Johnson Hayes posing as an employer on Craigslist. What a scam artist, hope he gets caught

II was tipped off right away by the little cues like asking for my information when it was on resume'. Isnt there anything that could be done to catch this dirtbag!!

I too have just received the exact same email letter as those posted above in response to a craigslist ad for an Administrative A'sst. I am glad I now have the knowlrdge to avoid this dirt bag preying on those when they are at their most vulnerable and only trying to job seek ! Thank's to all of you for the WARNING !
