I live in NY, so I almost took the call--but wisely declined. If you have an Android phone (like me), then there are many apps you can download that allow the developers to read your phone number. Although these developers sign an agreement with Google to keep this information secret, there are many unscrupulous firms that sell such information to telemarketers. Google has done little or nothing to crack down on these firms and is unlikely to so--that is, until the federal government gets off its fat, lazy a** and passes some meaningful personal privacy legislation. Given the current stalemate in Washington, it's unlikely this will occur any time soon. BTW, Hang up calls are a tool used by these slimy "marketing" firms to to validate the legitimacy of the phone numbers that they purchased. My advice: don't answer ANY calls from an unfamiliar number. Ever. Period. A legitimate caller will leave a message. Better to wait a few minutes to retrieve a voice mail and call the legitimate caller back, than to answer and give these slime balls what they want. If you are being harassed on an Android phone, you have the opportunity to block the caller with ease. Know thy caller--or don't answer!

I have gotten 3 calls from 3 different, unknown numbers in the last 2 days. This was the second. When I answered they caller hung up after a few seconds, without saying anything. The other two calls registered as Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

I also just got a call from this number. They called me twice yesterday and once already this morning! WTF!!!!!!!!! When you dial back, it says the number or code you have dialed is incorrect, please check the number and try again. FRIGGEN BOGUS!!!!

Yeah i just got one too. I have gotten two calls from a 917 area code within the past week, both times no one is there and it hangs up after a few seconds.
