Same thing, guy with an Indian accent said he was calling from Microsoft because my computer was causing problems. When i told him i only have  Macs he hung up. Clearly some scam to try and get you to visit a web site which undoubtedly is infested with viruses.

I got a call asking to speak to the owner of the computer, that the call is from Microsoft re: a computer error in my system.  I told them stop calling and hung up.  A few hrs later, another call, out of area came up on  my caller ID.  The callers have thick Asian accents and there are definitely other callers in the background making these calls.  The delay in answering me makes me think it os an overseas call being routed through a 917 number somehow.  The 917 number came up as being from Beaverton.

So, I received a call from a lady.  Not the same number but she told me that my computer had been sending them problems. She told me it was warnings, she said " please turn on your computer and I will show you all the problems". I said I haven't used my computer for a while. I don't know if this is a scam or not, but I hanged up

They called me twice. For the first call i told them i dont have a computer and they hung up. After a few minutes they called again, and i told them that i dont have a computer, he didnt believe me. And i asked him where where he is from, he said, California, then i asked where in California, he said Los Angeles. And the area code was (971) which is from Oregon. And he asked me if i was from the 'CBI' or something like that. I didnt quite understand him.

Caller ID said Homesecurity.  I figured it was someone selling home security systems, so I answered to tell them to take me off their call list.  The person on the phone was some dude from India with such thick accent I could barely understand a word he was saying.  Apparently he's from Microsoft Windows Technical Support and my computer is throwing error codes.  Whatever else he was trying to accomplish, I have no idea, as I couldn't understand him through the thick accent.  It's a fraud.

Debt Collector
This person (exactly the way it was described above) asked for someone who does not live at my address.

Here is the thing:
I have received calls from companies that have been trying to collect a debt from (the person they asked for) over and over for the last 3 years!

Although he hung up right away - I suspect that this person was trying to see if that person would answer... even though I've had this number for several years ... they are relentless.

If you owe a debt and they are trying to determine if you live there -- then I suspect if you answer this - they will continue to target you!

Just got a call from this number. He pretty much said the exact same thing everyone else is saying.

Caller: I am a technician from Microsoft and your computer has been sending our server errors. If you just go to your computer we will help you fix it.

I told him that Microsoft doesn't just call people out of the blue like this. I then asked him how he got my number. He said when i registered the computer with Microsoft that's how he got my phone #. I said i never registered my computer with Microsoft, this annoyed him. He said: SIR...if you go to your computer you will see it FAWST lol. He then proceeded to tell me its a problem with my Windows OS and basically acted like he knew everything about my computer. So I asked him what OS i had....he got all aggravated and said: Sir if you just go to your computer I will help you fix it!! I then asked him where he was calling me from, he said Washington, funny cuz 917 is an area code in Oregon so that was wrong! I asked him a couple more questions and each time he got more and more annoyed with me. His accent kept gettin in the way of me understanding him. He kept sayin: you will see it FAWST FAWST FAWST!!  I laughed at him and said: I will see it where? He replied: FAWST!  lol  I kept laughing at him and he just got more annoyed. I said: this doesn't feel right. He kept saying: if you just go to your computer I will help you fix it. I laughed at him (cuz of his accent)...i guess he didn't like that cuz he got really pissed cuz i wasn't falling for his scam and just hung up.

The Caller ID said Homesecurity. When I answered it took a beat but an Indian-ish voice at a loud call center said my name and started to tell me they were calling because I downloaded something on Windows and was now having a problem. I said WHAT? (I could barely understand him/her). They repeated it. When I understood, I told them I don't even HAVE Windows. They said never mind and hung up. Good thing I'm a Mac person or I might have thought twice.

1-917-217-9508 called me and kept saying hello every five seconds. I guess they get paid if they can keep you on the line for a certain number of seconds.

I just whistled like I was calling a dog back home. I repeated this every few seconds. No point letting them record my voice saying yes. No point saying yes to strangers.

He hung up first.
