I received a call earlier from an organization called Debt Management Services claiming that I was being sued by CashNet USA because of a loan I never took out. I did have identity theft in the year in question and figure that might be how this started. To make a long story short, I was able to get a number for CashNow directly and I eventually ended up with Robert Britton who said he was an investigator in the corporate offices of CashNow. It was a contentious call. My temper was short but I held on long enough to get his name, his phone number and title. Then he went into a song and dance about how I was trying to avoid my financial responsibilities and my choices were restitution or prosecution. He also chided me on my attitude and then said he was ending the call and filing papers against me.  So I'll be filing complaints to the appropriate places ASAP.

Be aware when you see this number on your caller ID. They are trying to scare people by telling them that they have a warrant on their desk unless you pay a certain amount of money. The warrant states that you defrauded a bank and legal actions are being files against you.

Sounds like a total debt collector scam.

I am investigator Britton I'm calling in reference to restitution that you owe. You have two accounts here from Cashjar which I've never heard or had an account with.  Of course this is a criminal situation that needs to be handled. I need to get a lawyer.
