The number is an overseas phone card company. it uses tat number to call into the US for cheap... so if you have friends or family out of the country it may be them calling you...

I got 2 calls in a row and then i called back and i got a recording telling me that the number has traveled out side  of the service zone..

This is a new number to add to the collection. These are robo generated, and the identifying numbers change all the time. There's no point in trying to call the number back, it doesn't really exist.
They come from outside the US so the DNC list is useless.

Your name and number was sold, by some entity you did business with at some point. A black/illicit market entity now has this and probably more about you. Call/write your phone co/provider, congresspersons and senators and demand they do something. This can be stopped, our government has the ability to listen and track every call and email that comes in and out of the US. It's allowing the it citizens to be harassed.

The calls won't stop, they'll escalate. Do not voice answer the phone, or let your VM answer. This only confirms that the line in "alive".  Try and press the phone on and hang up immediately. This lessens the frequency of calls. I put a fax screech on my VM on that seemed to have worked for a while, until today.
I have been getting calls for over 2 years from various numbers.

The final option is to change your number, and the phone companies/providers should do this for free.

The explanation is quite simple.  This number is an entry number for international calls.  When you see this number you know that someone was trying to call from abroad.  You won't be able to return the call since it's an incoming trunk, so no way to dial out through it -- that's the way it's configured.

OK, so the bottom line is:
Calls coming from this number can be legitimate.  I'm writing this short note, since I got a call from a family member who lives abroad and my caller ID showed this number.  Obviously, since this is an incoming trunk, many sales, or illegitimate calls can come through it.  One never knows.  Therefore, don't rule out calls from this number if you have callers who live abroad -- you might miss an important call.

A man with an (my wife believes Indian) accent called our house this morning. My wife answered and the caller asked for me. She asked what it was in reference to and was told "medication." She quickly acertained that he was soliciting and said that neither she or I would be interested and hung up.

The loser who calls from this #, says noting if I pick up, or if it goes into my voicemail, he just says on for a minute or so of silence.

He or She calls every few days, but the days that he calls it happens 3 or 4 times through the late afternoon EST, until about 9 or 10 pm.

This is the most annoying, because you dont get any satisfation by telling him to "get a real job", etc, cause he never talks, hes is just a lonely, loser...

I have gotten calls 3 days in a row from this number.  I have never been near my phone to answer but never a message and calling back renders a fast busy....at least today.

I just got a call from this number. I know it was fake caller asking about my bank details and routing number. Do not give any personal information like bank details and routing number. FBI is tracing these fellows.

I get a call from this phone 3 times a day. I never answered any of their calls.  But when I tried to call back, my call always fails.  Apparently it's a dummy number that appears on our caller id.  Annoying!  I don't know what they're trying to capture from you.  I guess they want to know if your number is active and God knows what they're going to do with that information.

Received a call at 9:45am, and then at 12:30pm. I answered the second time and got silence. I called back and got a recording saying this was a non-working number.
