Same thing happened to me. Very mysterious.
sally 2011-06-06 21:07:09 Unknown
probable bill collector... calls way too much and at all hours; no name listed with number; never leaves messages; and acts aggresssively, rudely, and snobbish. Ugh!

There is some evidence to point to this number being used for Credit Fraud and possibility Identity Theft.
I would suggest you verify who they are with the police prior to dealing with them.
Since they are hiding behind a false number, only criminals hide behind a mask.
Karen 2011-06-06 21:07:09 Unknown
Calls regularly, leaves no message and calls at all hours. Try to return the call and it says the nextel subsriber you are trying to call is not in service at this time. Something is fishy about this number...
Kim 2011-06-06 21:07:09 Unknown
I just got home & saw the number on my caller ID. I called it back and the message said "We're sorry - the Nextel number you have dialed is not in service at this time".

917 567 9167 just called me. i didn't answer so.
I'm going to tell you guy's how to find out who called you alrighty.
IF someone calls you they have no name and a number as long as you can see the phone number GO TO GOOGLE and type it in. Citi Credit Confidential it is a Claim service they use it to Repossess stuff i am assuming. but yeah just type the phone number in Google. 3 weeks ago when i learned this my REAL father that i haven't heard from since i was 2 years old called i didn't know who it was cause it was a Texas call so i searched the number on google and came up with Marc a H

Called me at work, came up with operator. I just hung up. Had this before and they patched someone thru and i asked who they were. Said by law they couldn't give that information out until they knew they were speaking to the right person. Never admitted to who I was and I told them that the number they are calling is a place of business to not call again. Apparently they don't care.

Got a call but ignored it. My question is...why isn't the FBI or police doing anything about this?
Dwilson 2007-10-16 15:53:13 Unknown
This number is associated with Credit Fraud and possibly Identity Theft.
Be very careful when dealing with them, they pose to be a legal company but the bank they claim to represent does not recognize them.
Again Credit Fraud and / or Identity Theft.
Be careful.

Call from 917-567-9167. Is a Nextel number that is not in service so I check further and it is Call ID spoofing knowing that if you call back you will not get that it is a collection agency that is contracted for several credit card that have been discharged (written off by the credit cards) but the credit agencies say they are collecting for that credit card but they bought the list of written off accounts and are now going after the money via scare tactics If you get the name of the agency, report them if they harass you. Keep good notes on who they are and report them. Also, depending on your phone provider, you may be able to block them (their number.)

I get the SAME message when calling them back at: 917-567-9167! Grrrr!
So, I decided to try something a bit DIFFERENT, -- since this is apparently a cellular line. :)
GO HERE: http://www.sprint.com/index.html -- and SEND THEM A TEXT MESSAGE! You can send directly from the internet via their web site (Sprint & Nextel are the same company if you didn't know already).
LOOK FOR "Send a text message", - which is located in the LOWER RIGHT SECTION of this page and then follow the directions. ;-)
Perhaps whoever this is will think twice about using a cell phone to contact people simply to harrass them, or LIE to them about WHY they are calling, etc. ;)
Have fun! :)
P.S. Be sure to keep it 'clean' though, so you won't get into any trouble with the FCC or any other agency! ;)

It is a collection agency call....this company has several different numbers from several different states...when you do answer, it is a relay operator, who will then ask for the person the collection agency is trying to get a hold of, then put you on hold, so they can then connect you to the collection agency. I have had several different numbers from several different states including, New Jersey, California, New York, Philadelphia and Las Vegas, Nevada. I just let my answering sevice handle the call.

A recording came on and said to hold for an important message
When a voice came on, she transfered me, and then hung up.

I just received a call from this number- I called it back and got "The Nextel number you are trying to call is no longer in service. NY and a series of numbers" what is this number trying to achieve?
bpbingo 2007-08-13 21:26:04 Unknown
As others say, we get a call from this number and they leave no message. Caller ID says "Cell Phone". My question, if they are a call operator for a business such as Citi, why would it list as a cell phone? Like others we don't answer calls where we do not recognize the caller.
Michelle 2007-08-13 21:20:45 Unknown
I just received a call from this number. No message left on my machine. The caller ID said "New York Call"

S 2007-08-13 18:23:35 Unknown
This number has called and called...no messages are ever left...never. I have no idea who this is! I wish they would quit calling. I have nothing from Sears...if indeed, that is who it might be. Why would they even have my number?
