Today I received a call from a person claiming to be a detective for this fictional attorney firm "Benjamin Goldberg"  claimed he was calling on behalf of "Goldstein Oshea Devine" who were about to send paperwork to my county to start a warrant for my husband's arrest if we didn't wire money to his accounts payable immediately. I was taken totally by surprised he scared me into an anxiety attack! But my suspicions on the validity of his claims proved right. After agreeing to a wire transfer 2 days from now I contacted a lawyer and was told not to give them any money. Besides obviously lying about doing jail time its illegal to use these sorts of scare tactics to try to collect a debt. There's a special place reserved in hell for these kind of people! Our lawyer will be in touch Ben you piece of garbage lying sack of turds!call originated from Texas same bogus firm

"Investigator King" is actually named Tim Hannibal (Possibly Spelled Wrong) and resides in Jacksonville, Fl.  His exact address is not known because he is borderline transient.  He has been known to shack up with white trash women only to realize that they are using him for money and a place to stay.  This guy is a hunchback and is riddled with C.O.P.D. at the age of 30-something.  He calls out of work constantly because he gets cricks in hunchback.  He basically has the mentality of a 12 year old boy...women convince him to call their last boyfriend and start s**t with them and he actually does it.  He carries a gun everywhere because there is absolutly nothing he could do if some one attacked him.  He really is one poorly bred, grody individual. Sleazy.

I got a call at work around lunch time stating that I was going to be arrested that day at work if I didn't send a money gram in the amount I owe.  This "Officer King" also said that they would subpeona my computer at work since I did the pay day loan online.  He gave me a name "Goldstein" to send the money to, and he also said he worked for the county in which I reside, but did not have the right area code for this state.  I was on my way to send the money gram when I decided to call the County Sheriff's office. They said they do not have an officer King nor a "Judge Jacob Wilson" that works for them.  They referred me to the city's criminal investigation division, who were kind enough to call this officer King for me and find out what was going on.  He hung up on the Lieutenant when she started asking him questions. She in turn, referred me to the city's prosecuting division, and requested that I file harrassment charges.  I work for the Government so I also reported the action to them.  I called this officer King back right in front of the police and he wouldn't let me talk and said that I was going to have "miserable holiday" and that he had already faxed all the paper work.  The police department just shook their heads and smiled.

Yeah, they called me and ignore it cause it seemed a scam and I reported to attorney general. They then call from a 202 number and said "they will have be picked up". Reverse number lookup pulls nothing up. If it were a real company it would. I asked what firm they were with and they said "a liason" its total BS collection agency breaking the Fair Credit act. Just the way they speak shows you they probably have no HS education. Bottom Feeders. And a money wire? Comeon. The first time the guy called they said the cops would be there THAT night, a week later they called and I said "i'm still waiting on the cops" dont buy it

They said that they left a message for my supervisor and that they would have a warrent issued for my arrest if I didn't pay today by 2pm... There was no message for my supervisor... And the other # 917-775-7743 wont tell anybody if they're an attorney or not.... I think it's a scam because they want me to put my SS# on the moneygram...

I do not know if I owed money or not. He did not give me time to look into it or even call my bank. He said the police would show up. I called my police office and they said they don't pick up people for bounced checks. They said the process is that if anyone bounces a check and the merchant wants to press charges that the court will send you a letter and say you have so many days to appear in a "check" court that is once a week. You pay the check there and a small amount more.

Anyone who falls for this has to be stupid. He is breaking so many laws I do not know where to start. Everything about his reads scam: the way he answers the phone, the messages he leaves, total con artist. Don't fall for it. If he calls you, demand to know who he works for and research where you are sending money. A wire to a stranger? Come on. Also, notice all these posts are within a few days of each other. No voice mail message, no reverse listing. If it were a business, you'd find the business so you could verify. Do not send money. I reported it to my attorney general.

no big deal, if and when you get picked up.. the judge is only going to make you pay back the amout of the check, or 3x the face value depending on what state your in, plus court costs and the filing companys attorney fees. i went through this last year with these people. unfortunately, i have a bad check on my record now, but my restitution is paid. see what your state statute is for bad checks and just take care of it.

Got a threatening call from "investigatior King".  They said that a warrent would be isued and they would have me picked up today.  Very rude, and would not give me any information.  Sounds like a scam, or a bottom feeder collection company.

Watch out for 404-585-6223: I received a call because I'm on the reference list for an individual.  I was told about an impending warrant and to have the individual call ASAP.  The call was from someone IDing herself as Cindy Lawson of Lawson and Marshall Law Firm, Atlanta GA.  I looked them up on the web and found LOTS of information!  I called them back and asked for their address.  They refused to give it and hung up on me. This is not a law firm. There are a couple of phone numbers associated with this group.  I'm adding another number to the list. One of the numbers is for magic jack.

It is against federal law for a collector to threaten arrest over a debt. You can, in fact, sue them for the violation for much more than what you currently owe.

Debt Collector
This is yet another payday loan debt collection scam:

Hi...I had a PDL with Sandpoint which I now know is illegal in my state of California. I closed my account and tried to call to make arrangements on my principal balance but no luck and no response. Today I get a call from Lawson and Marshall law firm stating that I will be arrested for writing an e-check across the state lines and for possibly using my work computer. She stated that they will come pull my equipment out to investigate. All for a $300 loan that I paid over $200 towards. Her name is Arlene Marshall and refused to give me the address for the firm only that they are located in Atlanta. I know alot of this is b/s but she really kind of scared me with the arrest threats. Are her threats valid or is she trying to extort money from me? What do I do at this point?

"These people are calling my friend of mine about a payday loan and threatening to fax papers to the local sheriff's department and have her arrested if she does not send money in two hours. Her name is Arlene and she says that she is with law firm in Atlanta GA.  Need to know who this really is so that we can report her to our state attorney general's office."

Caller called my place of employment, in search for an employee. The lady on the phone claimed that she was doing a perliminary investigation, and needed to serve a warrant. Something didn't sound right,so I tried to call back to get more information, and it went to a voice recording. it sounded like some type of collection agency....
