i got this same number on my miss call. then yesterday he called again addressing him self as the Police Chiefs. then i said thats odd which chief are you i know all the chieft of police here because im the US marshall of this area i heard "click" made my day.

Thank you for finding out it was the Troopers again. Notice they NEVER show their ID on the phone.

Just received a call from this number asking to speak to the owner of the business. Since we get many telemarketing calls a day and I responded that he was  not in and asked to take a message. The guys says no I am going to have to call back...what is the owners name? lol could they be more obvious about trying to scam people. Crazyness!

Well they continuously call here at my family business.  They are trying to reach my brother because he has donated in the past.  I've realized that if I answer by just saying hello, they will ask for him.  But if I answer by stating our business name and my name, they hang up really quick.  I don't know when we donated to them, but I can assure you it won't happen again.

They said that that 800 number is their Customer Information Center and they would be glad to explain further. Sheesh!

I can't believe the posts about this caller go all the way back to February 2008! I just got a call from this same number ... no message left. After I saw these posts I decided to call them back, just for kicks. I got a RECORDING stating that they were the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police, their fundraising efforts were under way and they would be calling me again. hee, hee, hee ... I will have fun with them if they do! They also said in the recording that they are registered with the State of Oklahoma (they can say what they want but that doesn't make it true) and gave an optional number to call if I wanted to talk to someone for more information (1-800-487-0923). I would definitely say this was a scam ... and a very long running one at that!

Caller ID shows "Call Center, OK" or "Private Caller".  No message left on answering machine.

calls repeatedly. never speaks on answering machine but I can tell the caller is calling while driving.

This is the Oklahoma Law Enforcement/State troopers  raising funds.  They called me to donate money.  They said I had donated before and wanted to know if I would like to make a small donation again.  I have donated to them years ago.  But under a different number not this one.

Received a call on my cell today at 1:15pm (pacific time) from this number. They left a 8 second message but did not say anything.I have distant relatives in Tulsa area so I returned the call, and got the 'this number is no longer in service' recording.  Must be a scam!!!!  Not sure how they got my cell # in California.

1-918-289-2970 got a call on my cell from this number. caller wanted Bob
told him he had the wrong number. he said that's alright he was speaking to everyone in Oklahoma city area could he speak with me. registered as local area 918 is Tulsa area code.

I got 2 phone calls in two days from this person. The second caller hung up when I answered.  I was not home when they called yesterday.

Keep receiving calls from this number. Last call was at 5:07PM on Sunday March 1. I also checked the reverse lookup on AOL phone lookup and it list as cell phone in Tulsa,OK. Strange that the Caller Id shows "Local Call" when Tulsa is at least four hours from my city. Would like for this person or persons to stop calling. I am on the Do Not Call list.

This this is a scam. Guy says he is calling for the National Assocation of Police Cheifs, yet this is registered as a Cell Phone. The real police organizations do not call for donations, and if they did, they wouldn't use a cell phone to conduct business like this. SCAM!

Keep getting this call, 918-289-2970. Answered and was told the same...National A**. of Police Chiefs. How strange becasue when I did a Wht Page search, this number comes up as a Cell Phone from Tulsa. Know its a Tulsa # because of the 918, but using a cell phone for donations to me means SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!

got a call from this # also and he identified himself as some type of chief of police and I responded that I only accepted personal phone calls on this line and he hung up quickly.

I just got the call from this number and I did get an answer.  They identified themselves as representing the National Chief of Police Assoc.  The man was reading from a script and offered to send me info.  I asked to recieve the info and then he digressed.  When I told him that I would not pay over the phone he said, "You probably wouldn't donate even if I did send it to you." CLICK!  End Phone con.

Get this # semi-regularly. No one speaks. I barely get the receiver up to my ear and the caller hangs up. When attempt to block was made "call blocker is not available on this number".
