I just got a call from this number and yes, as every one suspected, it's a payday loan company. I told Habib Achmed Osama Singh that I didn't want a payday loan at which point his story immediately changed and he was no longer offering me a payday loan but calling to "inform" me that I'd defaulted on a payday loan (to which I've never, ever had one in my life) and they were sending the local marshal to arrest me if I didn't provide a debit card __AND__ checking account information right then.
I told him I was the judge at the county courthouse, he would address me as Your Honor and I would be gladly waiting at he door when the marshal showed up. BS, of course, but I'm pretty sure he hung up right after the word judge!

Google Caller ID spoofing to see how you get calls from not in service or disconnected numbers.

I just got a call from that number and it stated, upon me calling back, that the number has elected not to receive phone calls...ive had tons of these calls and it gets ridiculous and be warned ive gotten ones from numbers that have been disconnected who knows how that happens.

Received a call from 918-623-9401. Caller id says 'SUPPORT P'. Same ole scam as everyone else is reporting. They are clearly spoofing the caller id since the same number reports as different things. Unfortunately, as these calls seem to originate outside of the US, good luck to any of us in getting any relief from them.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

I'm getting numerous annoying and threatening calls from these people with a thick indian accent. They start in the morning and last up to 9pm. They say I've been approved for a pay day loan and a car loan. I've been told to get an Atty and be at the Court House or make a settlement or the phone. Even after I tell them that I didn't accept any loan offers they still call and harass me. Most of these calls come from California. I've notified the proper authorities and I hope these people get caught and are charged.

Yes I just got a call from them lots of noise in the background and I could hardly understand the man that was talking. The minute he mentioned payday loans I'm like no way your interest is waaaay to high. I work for Bankruptcy and I see so many people use payday loans and they get themselves into so much trouble. I know people can go there in a pinch but I saw one was 380+ % interest.
I got a little nervous after the call, I was thinking Oh my did someone steal my information and open a payday loan account. So I did my search for the number on-line and your message eased my fear. I'm still going to check my credit report but I hope these people never call again.. I feel for those who fall into their trap.

They continue to call me as well. They asked for me, I lied said I wasn't working today cause I don't want to deal with them. Instead of leaving a msg or even saying thank you, they just flat hung up on me.

This is a payday loan company, calling to offer payday loans, for which I didn't apply. I ask them how did they get my number and was that I was listed as a reference. I told them to remove me from their list. I'm pretty sure it's an outsourced call center, because the person had a very thick accent.

They just called me and hung up the first time and then called again from Okemah, OK.....It's getting so out of hand and annoying...I don't even know how I got on the list and they are asking for someone else. I'm on the national Do not call list and I'm still getting nonstop calls all day. Anybody have any suggestions or solutions?
| ted 2013-04-09 19:47:33 Unknown |
these are offshore "lenders" who are trying to scam you. if they are calling with a thick accent with a whole host of people screaming in the backgroud, NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.
