For the past couple of months I've been getting similar robocalls. I'm offered a "medic alert package personalized for you" and, since "you've been referred by a medical professional", will also receive $1000 in grocery coupons. This started as two or three calls a week, now it's up to four or five every day, clogging my answering machine. No names given, no return phone numbers given, just "press 1 to speak to a representative".

This is an obvious scam. 918-877-0684 He is using the phones to defraud. This is breaking a federal law meant to protect consumers. To whom should we report it???

A recorded voice (which didn't sound like a recording) told me he had a shipment of medical equipment ready for shipping that was already paid for.
Thinking I was talking to a person, I stated that I had not ordered any medical equipment. When he just went on talking I realized that it was a recording. Asked to push buttons for approval of shipment and to be deleted. Another recorded voice then stated to disregard this call if you didn't need this equipment. A very upsetting call. Was a local number. I can see how an elderly person would likely have fallen for the way this call was presented. What telemarketers will do to get people's money continues to amaze me.

Received a call from this number just before 10 am. He insisted that the Medic Alert had already been paid for by a friend or family member and they were ready to ship it. I said I am not interested about 4 times and hung up. The name of the company did not come up on my caller ID.

I get this call 3-4 days a week from John ( but once it was a woman's voice)!!! It is a recording, so don't waste your time screaming at John. JUST HANG UP!!! Don't know how to stop call but let me know if you find out

Got a call this evening and let the answering machine pick it up. Some woman talking about a medical alert system. I get these calls all the time and never respond.

Folks, there really is a Samson Energy Company located in Tulsa Oklahoma. I called them and they are aware of the scam. Today I received a call with the same message about a medical alert system but I let my answering machine pick it up. Myy caller ID said Oklahoma on it. I deleted the message. Annoying robo calls are deleted.

Get repeated calls from this number, Caller ID just says "Oklahoma" and then the number. I have never answered their calls and they still keep calling. If I don't recognize the number I won't answer it.
Anonymous 2013-07-05 20:35:53 Telemarketer
We receive calls from the number almost daily in regard to an unsolicited medic alert device. The caller does not allow anyone to speak, but insists that the shipment will be made. I called the number back and it was a "receptionist" who claims she works for John Thorton Accounting who has multiple clients with hundreds of phone numbers. (She was obviously covering someone's tracks.) I told her I would file a letter of complaint with the OK DA and follow that up with a cease and desist order to Grant Thorton and any client/representative of the company.

I keep getting calls from this number too. The caller ID just says Oklahoma.
I hang up on them everytime.
I have friends in Tulsa, so at first I pick it up thinking it might be them and then when I hear the words medical alert system, I hang up.

I have ask them 4 times to stop calling and please remove my number. They keep calling
Michelle 2013-07-02 15:27:22 Unknown
It's very easy to spoof the name in the caller ID field.
Lesa 2013-07-02 14:31:56 Unknown
I got this call, and if I were older I may have taken the bait. How sick that these people prey on older, more vulnerable, needy people. It's really evil, in my opinion.

Same as others, caller ID just "Oklahoma" I got this call yesterday and told the person I was not interested and hung up. They called again tonight but I didn't pick up.

I received a call just now as well. I am going to call my Senators. I am getting 1 or 2 scammer calls, survey calls, research calls, etc. a day and I have an unlisted phone number and am on the Do Not Call List.
something has to be done about this. I am also going to call the police dept. and the Federal Trade Commission. I have had it with these bozos.

Are you implying that Samson Energy has only one telephone line, their switchboard # 918 583-1791, and since the harassing calls do not come from that one number, it could not be a call from Samson Energy? My guess is that the company may have more than one line, but regardless, the call is identified on the caller ID as Samson Energy.

The caller ID shows Oklahoma. He started his This is John from medical alert shipping center spiel. I recognized his voice from the voicemails he leaves on my phone every day. It's usually an automated message that talks about the medical alert system. I hung up on him.

Caller ID just showed this number 918-877-0684. The caller is male and very insistent that you will be receiving a package identified as MEDIC ALERT, and that it is paid for by family member and/or friend. He states that the package is ready for delivery. He will override with a louder voice insisting that you accept the package "MEDIC ALERT". Called 2:55pm ct 6/24/2013, 6/18/2013 7:32pm & 12:30pm 6/14/2013
I read the last post explaining the caller information....I am posting on Facebook so everyone won't answer and 918-8 number.

This calls come in repeatedly under the identification of Samson Energy but are sales calls regarding some sort of medical alert system. They are loud, harsh and insinuating. They dmand that you have to receive the product
G. M. Hedrick 2013-06-20 21:44:05 Unknown
I have had several calls from this number stating they are trying to deliver Medical Alert Product. I tried to call back but the number is reported as not in service. It is a scam.

We have also been receiving the same calls. We called the Samson Company and were told they are handling the situation. Hopefully folks this will be resolved soon. Just keep on hanging in there and hang up when you receive the calls. Beware do not continue with the call and give any information. I am afraid that the prompts that they ask you to use are a BIG CON!!!!!!!!!! thanks for listening.

received this call a few minutes ago after being pestered by it over the past few weeks. Glad to get this information from others. I'll inform my elderly mother who has been asking about it also.
Dab 2013-06-15 20:36:42 Unknown
Well, you have quite a few issues going here. First, Samson Energy is a well known company in the petroleum industry, with headquarters in downtown Tulsa. Their switchboard number 918 583 1791.So this caller is not from Samson Energy.
Second, for those getting callerID name of HDR Engineering, there is a company called HDR, Inc a highly diversified consulting engineering firm which just happens to have a Tulsa office, (918) 270-1212. Again you are not getting a call from HDR--callerID name is spoofed.
Third, a reverse lookup shows this number to be SERVICED by Brooks Fiber Communications of OK, llc. Never heard of this company, though records show it is concentrated in north Tulsa area of Turley. Records show owner of this number is "unlisted." Further adds to distastefulness of this scamster.
Fourth, just about all numbers starting with 918-8 are issued to Indian call centers (that is subcontinent of India. Not referring to a Native American tribe or nation). If this one number slipped through and does not belong to Indian call center, then good for them.
Fifth, "medic alert" or "First Alert" calls have been particularly pernicious this year. Generally a call will come from Montana, or Wyoming or some such out of area number. Their story and selling speech is similar: either ROBOcall or someone who can't read written script (meaning they will stumble/fumble while trying to force you to accept this "free" item) will tell you that you have a "free" alarm system, they just need an address to send it to. Problem is the "system" may be free but to get it to work you have to pay 1. monthly fees, 2. pay to get another phone line installed 3. pay a monthly fee for that additional phone line 4. pay some "unexpected" usually very large amounts associated with making your "medic alert" operational.
Hope that helps. Hopefully you are reading these posts BEFORE you accepted the "free" offer. Understand that there is no family member involved who has "already paid for this alert system." All that happened is that the scamster is working from a list that has ages listed. They are betting that there are some people who really need a service such as this, but really can't afford it. Yes, this is the lowest of low--scamming older people out of their very limited resources. And, remember, they only need just a very few takers even though they will call quite a few people to find that unsuspecting target.

I received call from 918-877-0684, identified as HDR Engineering. This guy told me someone had paid for a Medic Alert System for me, and paid cost of delivery. When I asked who had ordered it for me, he ignored question and said "Press 1 to accept delivery, press 5 to decline." I asked again, and he replied the same. I said "This sounds like an f'ing scam to me" and he hung up. I looked up HDR Engineering and it's a legitimate company ? I'm surprised these scam artists are getting away with using company title. I wonder what would've happened had I pressed 1 OR 5. Beware!

Two calls within 4 days. Let's come up with an idea to stop this scam!
anon 2013-06-14 23:05:32 Unknown
John from HDR Engineering is breaking the do not call law and this is most likely a con.
