I have been receiving phone calls from an 919 area code and I don't know anybody in the area it's from global tel link so I guess they're back at it again it's 2014 March i guess they waited a couple of years and got right back at it. The call type was from the automated global tel link recording they have to know something.

Despite the NC area code, this is actually from Monroe Correctional Center in Washington State.

It is not only a north carolina number it originates form Stafford Creek Corrections center and they never let anyone call out unless they know who they are calling maybe check to see if any family members or friends hads gone to prison recently to make sure you get updated on it and they maybe wanted to tell you they are in. so yeah. my father is in there and so i know how you all feel getting calls :)

I have received calls starting on Monday  4/7 at 2p, 4/8 at 10p and then again tonight 4/9 around 10p.  I am really frustrated b/c my number is unlisted and less than 10 people have my number.  I called my local magistrate b/c I want this to be stopped. I told them what had been happening and they told me that this is just "randon", but seeing all this online, let's me know that this is not.  tomorrow I am contacting the actual place in conjunction with the local magistrate office here in NC and if something is not done quickly to stop this stupid mess, it will only get worse.  My number is unlisted so I won't get calls like this.

I live in Washington State. I got the call today 11/9/07 at 1:07 PM. The person calling collect from Dept of Corrections said his name was Dustin. I refused the call (obviously) and hung up. I hope it is the last time I get one of these annoying calls.

Received a call from this number tonight.  I live in Washington state too.

Called several times  I looked up the number to the Durham Correctional Center it is 919-477-2314.  I talked to the seargent on duty he took the info You need to have the number called from and time and if the recording says the name get that to.  The people who trace that are gone at 5:00 but the sarge will re-lay info and they will find out who and have it stopped.

I live in Washington State and have received two calls today (10/17/07) from 919-425-0016.  Since the first rang about twenty times, I answered the second one.  An operator said that if I wished to block further calls from "this inmate," press 7.  I did, and then was told to press 6 "to confirm."  I was afraid to do that, so I waited and was presently cut off.  I called 1-800-844-6591, the number "Frankie" (above) gave for blocking the calls.  It was "Correctional Billing."  They will try to block the calls from N.C., but it appears that Global Tel may be the carrier the inmate is using, so they suggested I call Global, which I will.

I have received four calls today from this # and heard the message ie: my   phone will not allow calls from this # etc.  on the third call (didn't have my glasses on) I picked up again...receiving the same message.  After the 4th call I tried to call the # back and got the same

I have received 4 calls today..with all the same results as you folks..I will try calling Wa State corrections to complain and see what happens..wish me luck.

I received a call from Private Name, 919-425-0016, also on 9/29/07 at 4:30pm and again at 4:34pm. It says "this # doesn't accept collect calls, but I can call antoher #". I didn't get the other # and just hung up. I too, don't know anybody in NC or in prison. When I did a reverse search, this is what I found:  Type: Land Line, Provider: Intermedia Communications
Location: Durham, NC. I love my caller ID, I won't be answering when this # call again.

I just got this call too from Global with a collect call from and inmate Scott.  Another scam at trying to get people I'm guessing?  I live in Canada so we are getting it up here too.  So sad.

i just got a call from this number at 9:49 pm WA state time. I live in Washington and i was worried it might be someone i know got in trouble but when i googled it i came here. when i picked up the phone it repeated twice that my number does not accept collect calls and then gave me a number to call for details. Somebody should really do something about thes beside ignoring it or blocking it.

I have been recieving calls from this number since June, I will get down to the bottom of this, I think that its a scam as they asked me for the last 4 numbers of my ss# after putting my number in.

The company is called Global Tel Link.  They forward collect or pre-paid calls from prisoners in many states.  Because it is a call forwarding system, most calls will show up as coming from North Carolina, which is probably where their phone center is located.  If you answer one of these calls, you will be given the option of blocking future calls.  Or you can contact Global Tel Link directly at 877-650-4249.  You can also fax them at 251-473-4588 or go to their website: www.globaltellink.com.

I just received a call from this number. I answered the phone, and it went to a partial recording of "Cannot receive calls" and disconnected. I'm in Washington state as well. The DOC really needs to follow up on this!

I received a call from this number on 9/3/07 @ 10:55 p.m. On my caller I.D. it came up as a private number, I answered and an operator from Global said it was a collect call from an inmate who spoke a name I didn't understand, nor do I know anyone in prison so I hung up on the call. Thank you for providing the 800 number, though I hope, like I've seen in the postings above, this doesn't continue and I don't it.

I believe this is a call forwarding service called Global (A...) A person wishing to receive calls from an inmate would pre-pay at 800-483-8314. Once paid, the inmate could call you and this number shows up on the ID.  If there is no money on the account, the call cannot be completed and you are asked to call if you want to pre-pay.  On an answering machine it cuts off before the whole number is given.  I don't know about any scams- the payment is only for the number you provide.

Just received a call from this number. The caller ID said it was from GTLINK from Durham, NC. I let my answering machine pick up the call and the automated voice gave me options to accept, decline, or block, etc. I didn't pick up the phone so I wasn't able to block it. The canned message  also said that if I accepted the call, I'd be billed $5.84 for the first minute and $.89 cents for each minute after that. A costly venture if you accept one of these calls!

Just got the call at 7:30 AM...I also live in Washington State. Said 'hello' once and heard a second or two of garbled something and then click-click and big black hole. Hung up and googled the number which brought me here. Appreciate the info I have received and won't answer again.

I've been getting calls from this prison for weeks. I eventually accepted the collect charges and spoke with the guy. He asked for a bogus name. When I told him not to call anymore he mumbled something and hung up. I continue to get calls and now even at my business as well as my home. Most of the time the line is dead when i pick it up and then they call again in a few minutes. THIS IS PISSING ME OFF! I called the phone company today as well as the 800 number given by Frankie above (thanks) in the hopes that they can stop these calls. This is crazy! I'm told the calls may or may not stop. They don't even know for sure how to stop them. Time will tell.

i have been receiving several calls from this # in the last 2 days. i have found out that if you don't press 0 to decline the call, then the call goes through. the man on the other line asked who i was and then told me i sounded like his sister. he repeated the number he was trying to reach and i told him that he had the wrong #. he then continued to call back several times after that. and why does a prison in WA state have a North Carolina area code? I don't know anyone in prison!

I have received calls from this number on more than one occasion.I decided to put a stop to this nonsense.  I called the Dept of Corrections in N.C. to report this problem. I spoke with someone who will pursue it, but I also received from her a number to call to their billing dept. If you phone this number and follow the prompts to "other issue" you can speak with someone who can block your phone number from receiving calls from any phone in their corrections system. It is free and takes just a minute to set up. Otherwise their people tell me if you answer the call it goes through prompts to accept,decline or block the call which will then block that number only. I figure it is worth a little time to be off those bozos calling list for good.So here is the number to call: 1-800-844-6591.

I also live in Washington state, which seems to be where all these calls are targeted. I won't call it back. It says "private caller" in the ID. It probably is someone trying to perpetrate I.D. theft.

I do not know anyone in jail. I want them to stop calling me.

I live in Washington and got a call from this number at 10:39pm on June 6, 2007 and received the same details that I had reached a dept. of corrections and that they do not accept incoming calls.  10:39 PDT is 2:39am EDT.  Maybe this is a scam perpitrated by someone who's either not at the prison but using their line, or someone who's not an inmate?  I'm positive that I don't know anyone in either North Carolina, or jail (well, besides Paris Hilton, and I think I recall every station in the world confirming she's in California)

I live in Alaska and got a call from this number on 06.03.07 at 5:39pm.  I tried to call it back and I get a recording saying "The department of corrections number you trying to call does not accept incoming calls."  First of all, it is a North Carolina area code. I do not know anyone in NC or in Prison. Secondly, the call was made at 9:39pm North Carolina time.  Don't inmates have a bedtime!!!!
