I get these calls frequently. Who is this? they say press 1 to accept charges, 2 for sales reject and something else. Annoying and agravating!

I get a call from this number almost every day.  It's some kind of machine calling and I would really like it to stop.  Does anyone know what I can do?

Hey guys....this number is a privacy director number (a service provided by AT&T). What this means is that someone calls you, privacy director steps in and asks the caller to identify themselves. The privacy director kicks in because the CALLING party has not identified their phone number when calling you. So they are asked to leave a message, which if they do, then privacy director will call you so you can hear the message and decide if you want to accept/reject the call...all this time the CALLING party is not aware that you are deciding whether to accept/reject their call based on the message recorded by the CALLING party. The privacy director does this 2-step operation in PARALLEL. It calls you (the CALLED party) and also prompts the CALLING party to record their message so you (CALLED party) can decide whether to accept/reject the call. CALLED party can hear the message being recorded by CALLING party, but CALLING party is not aware that CALLED party is listening in. Note that the CALLING party may hang up instead of leaving a message, but the privacy director has already called you (CALLED party) for you to "listen in" on the message being left by the CALLING party. So when no one answers (CALLING party did not leave a message) all you (the CALLED party) get is a call from the privacy director.

ı do not want to receive any calls from this number. They wake us all the time, thinking an emergency call from my mother. I tried but they won't stop..

508-1720 shows as Privacy Director. Called several times a week, sometimes several times a day, usually doesn't leave a message but once did and it was some recorded garbage that I deleted immediately.

Call came in on 11/21/07 at 10:41am. Answered phone after second ring. ? hung up after a few seconds.

We get a call from this Privacy Director , 1-919-508-1720 and we would like for it to stop immediately.  It is extremely annoying and has caused us to slip and almost fall trying to get a phone when we feel that it may be one of our children or family member.  These calls are placed seven days a week at all hours during the day. up to 8:30 pm, sometime up to 3 times a day.

I get a call from this number every day.  I would really like it to stop.

Keep getting calls from 919-508-1720.  Caller ID says Privacy Detector  They called tonight 12/7/09, and I heard a lot of background noise then someone say in a muffled tone "This is Aaron Lewis with Health Services, now part of CIGNA" then the line went dead.  This is the first I have actually heard a name on the answering machine.  Anyone else have CIGNA for insurance or have a company that was bought out by CIGNA?

Called AT&T, they did a test call back to me, it worked just fine.  When I asked about not getting a response when I answered the phone, they said whoever called with the blocked caller ID probably hung up, thus terminating the Privacy Director

I was getting lots of these, I just figured it out this evening. AT&T has a service called Privacy Manager.  When someone you don't know calls, AT&T intercepts, has them record their name, and you're supposed to get an automated call, instructing you to press 1 to accept, 2 to give the caller a recorded "We don't accept sale calls" message, or 3 to ignore completely.  However, I've answered these calls and get nothing.  I'm going to contact AT&T and report this.  BTW, if you go to your AT&T phone account page, it tells you how to change you settings for this service.  When I find out why it doesn't work, I'll repost.

Called tonight, 10 Oct @ 1655. Wife picked up the phone, said "hello" and got no response from the caller. Caller ID said 508-1720 and nothing more.

Just received a call from this number at 9:45am, "Privacy Director" was on caller ID and I did not answer.  No message.

Phone call at 4:57 pm.  Just received phone.

Has called multiple times.  Each time I pick up I just get a dial tone.  It's as if they hang up when I pick up. Caller ID says "Privacy Director."

Call received 2:26PM.  Did not answer.

Have been calling in the afternoons and evenings recently....don't pick up cuz dont know who they are...sick of it...

Caller ID said, "Privacy Director" Call was @ 1/22 9:20 PM. Didn't pick up b/c we do not know who they are. Wish they would stop this Nonsense.

They call our house all the time...it annoys me because I am waiting for people to call back about a job...

Receive call about 10am from (919)508-1720. Just got dial tone when I answered. Caller ID was "privacy director".

Received a call tonight from the number (919) 508-1720.  when I picked up no one answered...not sure if it was blocked by my privacy director on this at&t line.  Wondering who this was, and why the call??

Called yesterday..no idea from whom the call was from...

Privacy Director" called my home last night at 01:21 am. They call us weekly but never so early in the morning before. How do you get them to stop this nonsense?
