The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers    should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.

This number called once today. Got that ANNOYING dial tone when my answering machine picked up. Googled the number and found all these reports, although oddly all from 2011. Anyway, this number has been blocked so they can't bother me anymore. Love my Panasonic phone!

This number called me 3 times today within an hour.  The first two times it went to my v/m and the caller hung up.  The third time I answered it and it hung up immediately after I said "hello".  When I attempted to call the number back, an automated system told me that the person who owns this number has not set up a v/m account.  At least now I know it's a telemarketer...why diabetes?  I have no connection at all to this disease...

It's a good idea you suggest, but if you read these postings, most of them are useless as documentation. When someone posts, "Stop calling me!" it's obvious they're unclear on the concept. Other posts wouldn't help much, either. "Same here." doesn't give any real or useful information.

People are too lazy or busy or preoccupied to actually document calls like this in a way that would impress any governmental entity. It's sad, but pretty much describes the situation.

If you read some of the threads, you'll see that some people are confused about who called them. For one number, you might see an assortment of names for the caller. "American Diabetes Association," or "The Diabetes Foundation," or "American Diabetics United" might all three be wrong, if it's "The Diabetes Club." If the only thing the recipient remembers is "diabetes," anything else they post may not be too reliable. Same with people who declare "It's a scam." or some other stuff which basically means "I really know what's going on, here." Unfortunately, most of those are misguided and useless.

One reason there wouldn't be much of an impact is the anonymous nature of the postings here. One person could, conceivably, post 3,000 times for a single caller. Some of the scam artists actually post (as if they were consumers/strangers) glowing comments about themselves.

There is a reasonably useful outcome of these postings, though. They give an idea of how long a scampaign has been running, and how often they call. If the first call was June and there are already a dozen pages of comments, that's a lot. By contrast, if the first call was two years ago, and there are not many comments -- one page; maybe two -- that may actually be a legitimate company, and the complaints coming from a few hyper sensitive people. So, as a rule of thumb, 800Notes can give an excellent picture, compared to many others, of how a particular caller is doing.

I'm in favor of anything which might make a real difference in the overall problem. This phone number called five times in about three hours. They called twice within 30 minutes. They never talked. I think it would be good if we could talk. To Congress. But, with solid evidence of abuse.

You should definitely change your number now, since you've made it public in your post here. And this goes for you other folks, too! Don't put your number in your post!

I'm just sayin'...

they say they are the 'Diabetic Management Group'.  When I got mad & told them "we are on the Do Not Call List, why the Hell are you calling me?"  the a***ole actually took a tone with me and told me to "BE NICE!"

I told him to f*** off & hung up on him.

But the thing is that I  *thought*  I had already blocked another number saying they were from the same Diabetic...Group.  These a***oles just won't stop.

BTW, my father died of diabetic complications about 15 years ago. He did use diabetic medical supplies way back then & I guess someone sold his info as a diabetic patient.  I don't know if that is how & why we are on these a***ole's list or if that is just coincidence.

This call has been going on for months.  It starts by 8 am and comes right after another.  I am a senior and even when I get to the phone there is no one.  I need this to stop.  I never receive any calls unless they are important so I try to get to the phone.  It makes me very anxious and I feel I should change my number.  How can I get this to stop.  It drives my little dog crazy.  If I try to lay down for a rest they call again.  When I don't make it I hope for a message.  Is there anyway to stop this.  I am on the no call list.  I see from all the emails other people are suffering also.  What can we do.  Who do we complain to.  Isn't anyone in NC able to stop this.  My heart is beating so fast I can hardly write this.  My number is 410-772-7998 please help me.

Have gotten (2) calls from this number today within 30 minutes. We are on the do-not-call list and it appears that these individuals are disregarding this. As I understand it, it is against the law to call as a for-profit telemarketer when when the person that you are calling is on the do-not-call list. Of course, if you're a "non-profit" group, you are free to bug people all day and night, but don't get me started on that...

I received a call from this number also asking if anyone in the household is diabetic.I answered I am and she said she was from Medicare offering a new monitor for testing at no cost. She then asked for my medicare number, and I said I do not have access to it right now. She then said "do you know your social security # by heart?" I told her I do, but I do not give it out - she hung up!

I had this number on my caller ID twice this morning. They called back a third time and I answered "hello" and a female voice asks if anyone in the household is a diabetic, I reply "not that I'm aware of" and they hang up.  We are also on the do not call list.

Received my first call from this number today. I thought it could be relatives from NC calling, but did not answer it because the number looked suspicious. As I am writing this, they called again.

We added our number to the DNC List months ago and are definitely receiving more calls since doing that. Has this happened to anyone else? There seems to be something fishy going on. Possibly some corrupt connection between the FCC and these telemarketers and pseudo-charities.

(The federal government is not an entity, it is a group of individuals, most of whom are in it to make as large a salary as possible.)

Telemarketer
Called three times within an hour Monday morning (9:39, 10:10, & 10:40 AM).  First two times I ignored it (not the phone number for any family/friends in NC) and they left no message.  Third time I answered (got concerned it might be a family/friend calling from a different office phone or such in NC).

After the normal 2-3 second "dead air" while the computer/random dialer program connected me to their legion of telemarketers, I got:
"Hello!  This is Jeff from Diabetes Services.  Do you check your blood sugar levels every day?"

I told "Jeff":
    1.  I do not have diabetes, and
    2.  This phone number is registered on the FCC "Do Not Call" list and you are violating federal law by calling it, so ...
Why are you calling me, Jeff?

Not that it'll do any good, but Jeff seemed a little startled and replied, "Oh!  Sorry!  Have a good day.  Good bye" and hung up.

Again ... this was after THREE calls within an hour.
If they call again, I'll block the number on my Panasonic KX TG-9331T DECT 6.0 cordless phone system which allows me to block up to 20 phone numbers.  As bad as these mass-marketers and outright thieves and scammer calls are getting, it's worth buying one of the newer phone systems that allows you to block a bunch of numbers.  And you do it on your phone system, rather than paying yet another ridiculous "fee" to the phone company (which started this whole bloody mess by selling everyone's phone number to anyone and everyone who'd pay for it!).   It's not a complete solution, but it helps.

Obviously the federal/FCC "Do Not Call" list is a total JOKE!  I've filed a few very well-documented complaints with the FCC over the last three years or so to NO AVAIL whatsoever.  The government DOES NOTHING and never intends to.  I'm wondering:  If all the folks I see posting on discussion boards/websites like this one were to solidly "document/log" the mass of such calls we all get these days and if someone like "800Notes" centrally organized them all AND FORMALLY PRESENTED THEM TO CONGRESS .... would anything be done?  A thought.
