This is a scam and the caller asks personal questions and tries to be professional, however when he realizes he is getting nowhere, he becomes very inappropriate! BEWARE

I called Fidelity regarding my 401k on the main line (800 number).  My call got disconnected after getting through, but I immediately receieved a call back from this number.  Did not answer since I did not recognize, but it's likely a legitimate Fidelity number.

It was a call from Fidelity. I recently gave them my information at a work seminar. The man left his name, number, calling from Fidelity, and that he was following up with my request.

I just received a missed call on the cell phone; no message was left.

I have not had an account with Fidelity in many years, and at that time they never had this cell number.

The most suspicious part is people indicating a request for SSN on a voice message.  SAY WHAT?

Is it just me, or do you think scammers are posting "positive" messages on these forums to help dupe others into a scam?

Assume it IS a scam.

Fidelity (who manages my employer's 401k) came to give a talk at my work.  I filled out a form with a specific question about rolling over my wife's 401k to a Roth IRA.  A couple weeks later, this number called to answer that specific question.  So it is definitely from Fidelity.  But if you have no reason to talk about your 401k, then simply don't answer.  If you do want to talk about your 401k, then look up their number and call them.

Caller provided his name and contact information and stated he was with Fidelity Financial Services. The phone call was in regard to an old 401k I had. He did not try to sell me anything but rather wanted to send me information from Fidelity so I could (if I wanted) transition my old 401k to a rollover IRA - which I already have with them.

As far as I can tell, the call was legit since I had been in contact with Fidelity several times in the recent past and this was one item that I discussed with them (at my initiation).

They called my cell 3/16/11 @ 3:38 p.m.
I have no accounts with Fidelity, and I have not given them my cell phone number.
Got to be some kind of scam.

It is interesting that when I returned the call that I received from "Fidelity",  the message said "Please leave your name, phone number and SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER"   Doesn't Fidelity have that already??????

Seems like a scam to me!!!!  My advice is if they are calling, don't give them any info...they should already have it...

Caller I.D. says FIDELITY INVEST.  Hung up on my business answering machine.  I would not dream of talking to anyone that wants to talk to me about money.  Caller I. D. can be faked.  Could be a thug just looking for somebody that doesn't flinch at the mention of an investment. That is enough money to kill you for.

I also got a call from this number 919-651-5511 and the person Steve Szuromi said he was from Fidelity Investment group.  I contacted Fidelity and verified that the number and the person were both legit.  Additionally, I was told that the phone number was a department's work phone.  So I think that's why some people got call from different person using that same number.

I just got a call from this number (and several others). Every time these people are looking for someone I have never heard of. Different companies who are not legit. But always the same person. Its a new number every few weeks (on top of the old numbers). I have asked them to stop calling me but they continue. I get calls all day and all night, so i have to turn off my phone.

I just got a call from this number also.  I have gotten this call from this Stave person and have mentioned about my 401K roll over also.  He was instructing me to call the local Fidelity branch to schedule a meeting.  I did try setting something up but never following it through.  Should I taking this call or should I skip it?

Agreed! If you did not initiate the call do not respond.

It seems similar to the persons calling about car extened warranties as well as the ones who call wanting to reducing credit card interest rates.....if they do not have your info...and they don't, they are phishing.  Do not give anyone info!!!!

Get them to give you as much info as you can, phone # etc. and then see what can be done stop it.  They are most likely not legit.

Cheers.

I received this unsolicited call from Steve Dunn of "Fidelity Investments".  He called and left a message that he wanted to check on the paperwork he sent me regarding my 401k plan and a plan-to-plan rollover.  First of all, he didn't address me by my formal name, which would be on my 401k account (if I had one) and I never received any paperwork from them.  I think this is a cold call phishing for information.  BEWARE!!!

The number is legit from either a direct or contracted Fidelity rep. My husband has done business with a fellow at this number regularly and was put in contact with him by our other Fidelity person.
