Got a call from out of area, number unavailable from a Deputy Alex Watson. Claimed I had been reported for a crime and to call Thomas Obrien at (919) 665 2332 or they they will send a team to arrest me. This is a scam. Reported similar calls to local police, FBI, FTC, local consumer protection agency. Told to ignore these calls. It's a SCAM.

Received a call from a garbled foreign voice that indicated an arrest warrant would be issued if I did not contact my police department or call them.  It sounded like a scam.

I called the number and got an Indian sounding voice who would not provide any details and said he would call back.  Definitely a crude scam

A message was left on my voice mail asking me to call 916-665-2332. The person identified himself as an officer so and so. He said that I have a arrest warrant out for me. I should not disregard this message or else there will be trouble. It was clearly a scam. So I reported to the local Sheriff's department for harassing phone call.

My client received a call from this number today,  they said that they were working with the IRS and that my client owed money on their taxes.  If they did not pay right away they were going to put a hold on their passports for 120 days and they would not be able to go anywhere.  I called them back and they answered the phone "federal offices" and I asked who they were and he said FBI working with IRS.  I asked why they  were calling my client, no name was given, and he hung up on me and now won't answer the phone.  SCAM but this really upset and scared my client.

919-665-2332 kept calling my parents home #, we usually don't answer the home phone from #s we don't know, but my mom who don't speak english got annoyed and  picked up the phone and then handed it to me. They claim they were IRS and there is a warrant for my father's arrest, and police officers are on the way to arrest him. At the moment when i didn't think straight after the words IRS and a warrant for my father. I should've realized if there is a warrant for my father's arrest they wouldn't call me and tell my the police r on their way. But i didn't realize that right away, I called my brother who was working near my father, who googled the # and realized it's a scam, meanwhile i called our accountant to c if my father has any problem with the IRS and as soon as i told him 919 he knows it's a scam. and by the way it was an indian voice person too.

I got the call from this number too. Threatened me with an arrest warrant. I'm of Indian origin and the fact that he could pronounce my last name, along with the thick Indian accent, gave it away. Geez, what a bunch of stupid criminals/scammers!

Fraudulent impersonation of a law officer is a crime I guess (and so should be issuing a threat to someone), and should be treated as one.

Got a call from them again threatening me with a lawsuit.  I asked what federal agency they report into and he made up an agency I've never heard of.  He told me the cops would come - I welcomed that and told him when they do I would report him.  It sounds like he's calling from a call center room so his entire story is not believable.

Anyway, what I don't understand is why these people still in business?  They're impersonating a cop, threatening people with lawsuits, demanding payments, and scaring people into giving personal information.  Has this made it to national news?  They should be arrested and out of business.

I had recd a call from the same number 919-665-2332 - name given was John Walter from Crime Dep and then said that he was part of mongomery county police office  ( MD )
The warrent was for not filing some taxes in 2011 in the amt of 3000 and some dollars .
Threatened to have our US passports revoked   and arrested . We even went to the extent of withdrawing money from the bank to send via wire transfer to these crooks.

For some reason something clicked and I googled the number and saw this infor and of course realised it was a scam - next I called my County police and asked them if this person was part of the state police force  - they told me  that I simply need to  call IRS and find out if any tax money was owed to the Government and not to pay anything over the phone .. Thank god   we just escaped narrowly .. this is the first fake/ scam call we recd and we panicked -- so my advice is to stay clam and contact the local police Dept  and get their advice.

Got a call from 919-665_2332. It was claimed to be a call from Federal Crime Enforcement Division by someone named Roger Gibson. I asked his ID, he said 6285. I asked him his designation, he declined to answer (Big Hint). When I asked him his address, he said North Carolina. I told him it was a big state and I needed specific street address. His reply: 442 suite # 625. I asked him street name. He said Lunar Road. I asked him to repeat suite number. He said 2212. Hmm. His pronunciation of the word suite were very different (among a lot of others). So I asked him to spell it for me. He said 'suit'. I said it should be 'suite' and then I asked him about his education. That is when he yelled at me: who the ---- are you? An unprofessional response you do not expect from a valid agency and not at all stating what was even the intent of the call.

Beware.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

As I was aware of this type of scams, I asked him couple of verification questions to make sure. He said he is a contractor as federal is hiring contractors to investigate crime ? funny. I told him that let me talk to my local police dept. to verify such investigation and he hung up.

I got a call from a Sacramento number indicating there was an arrest warrant in my name and if I don't call 919-665-2332 immediately, I would face serious consequences. The caller did not have any accent, but somehow did not sound authentic to me. I called back the Sacramento number, it always goes to a fax and the number 919-665-2332 seems bogus as well. A voicemail greeting plays in the voice of a man with heavy Indian accent. This is a scam, but I don't know who to complain to and get these guys taken care of.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

Don't bother calling this scammer back!  You already know you've never taken out a payday loan, so if he calls again, tell him you know he's a scammer and you've reported him to the FTC and also the FBI and your state's Attorney General.

My husband received a call from a man with a strong foreign accent, and said his name was John Adams.. He left a message and said if my husband doesnt call back by the end of day he would be arrested. I thought it was strange to receive a claim like this on a voicemail!! I am glad I looked up this number before my husband called back. I will tell him to ignore these calls and I put our numbers on the do not call list thru the ftd. I hope that works!

Received a call today from (919) 665-2332 ext 786.  I was told I owed $982.00 in payments or $420.00 as a one time fee.  Otherwise, I would have to go to court and pay $15,000 - $16,000.  I will be reporting this call to the Police Department today since they are calling me at my job.  I work for the State of California!

These people really try to intimidate you!  They say this is for a pay day loan but will not give you the information on this loan.  Not to mention that they do not want to take the funds from your savings/checking account if you do in deed owe any money for any type of pay day loan and have a open account with a bank.  They want to receive the money via a money back guarantee purchased at Walmart, CVS, or 7 Eleven.  They want no peronal information on it.

Very strange.  I would be highly careful if you receive a call from these people and report it immediately to the police department even if they have your correct name, bank (if there is one) and know that you borrowed from a pay day loan in the past!

Same deal. A gal with an Indian accent has been calling me anywhere from 5:00 am to 6:30 am, which is illegal in itself. I don't answer so she leaves a message that is broken and barely audible. She threatens filing a legal claim against me for scams I have so-called "done" past and present. If I, or my family attorney, does not return her call, then she will be forced to file the claim with my county and call the police. Have at it, lady!!!!!!!!

Calls from this number are harrassing me at work and on my cell number.  They claim I owe them money which I know I do not.  I did speak to them, I did give them my information but never went forward as it sound very unsavory.  I would like to complain to someone (FTC) can you assist with whom I should go to.  Unfortunately for me in a moment of pressure I made a big mistake and have closed all my accounts, etc. in order to avoid any access from them.  They also said they were from the Law office of Ronald Roth who I googled and see he is in fact a Manhatten attorney specializing in medical mal practice.
