Called at 5:00 am and hung up.  Called and hung up again a few minutes later.

Report it to the FTC and possibly the FBI if you think it's an overseas scam.

There is little the police can actually do until after someone has been scammed and even then they may not be able to help.  The background noise and accents most likely indicate an offshore call center using VOIP technology to spoof a US number.  Those are very hard to trace back to the origin and then there is the problem of jurisdiction if the caller is from outside the US.  The Federal government has had a limited amount of sucess in shutting down these over seas call centers but more keep springing up all the time.  Short of laws and technology that make caller ID spoofing illegal and not possible, scammers will be able to hide behind spoofed numbers.  Consumer education about scams like this is about the only defense.

I just got a call from this phone 919 6740853 too.   I dont get if is scam why no one report this to police ? or anywhere else. Let them close there company and there phone numbers.

Just got a call asking for the owner of the company cell number.  Yeah like's happening.  He said he had important questions regarding NIU.  Hung up on him. Called from 919-674-0853 North Carolina

JUST GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER (919-674-0853) .THIS TIME HE TRIED TO SAY HE WAS WITH THE U.S GOV. AND THIS WAS A GRANT.BUT NEEDED MY CREDIT CARD INFO OR BANK INFO TO PROCESS IT.WHEN I TOLD HIM THAT THE NUMBER HE WAS CALLING FROM IF NOT LISTED AS A U.S GOV. NUMBER HE HUNG UP ON ME. WISH I COULD FIND OUT WHO AND WHERE CAUSE I  WOULD LOVE TO TAKE A TRIP AND SAY HI THE AMERICAN WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha!  As I was reading your post, I received a call from them.  Same thing...wanted to know my address so he could send me a new card.  I let him go on for awhile just to waste his time.  Then I told him I no interest in a new card.  He told he was going to end our call and hung up.  Too bad because I wanted to tell him I was reading about them on the Internet.  Anyway, it was just as you posted.  Accent, lots of noise in the background.  I wish these people would stop annoying us.

Caller called once and tried to talk to my wife. Said he needed to verify her address for a new Medicaid card. Then he began asking about bank routing numbers, and my wife said he'd have to talk to me. Unbelieveably, he called back. Wanted our bank routing numbers so he could issue a new card. I told him he just needed to confirm address so he could send the card. I tried to get him by insisting he did not require the bank routing numbers. Finally told him him that he needed to remove our number from his list because if he called again, all he was going to get was law enforcement. I asked him if he understood me, and he replied that he did.

Call had a delayed signal, and there was considerable background noise and othe traffic. Caller was male with middle eastern accent.

Call almost daily then hangs up.  Very annoying.

Not only sales scam but debt collector scam as well... They also use a 9196740847 & 866995051... If you do your resrarch online you will see that these people are a scam..
