By the way - Unregistering didn't help -- Your FUBAR

Are any of you in the NCDESC job search system?  did you rgister for job search assistance?  if you did - that is why you are getting those phone calls.   I unregistered from the system because they want me to take a minimum wage job 300 miles away and move my family to do it. ---- Do they drug test at the ESC?

This is the NC Department of Commerce, and they only call when someone at your number registers on the Employment Security Commission website.

Erik, you are right.  It is the NCESC and it is an automated system to tell you to call their regular number to get information about a job that matches the profile you have listed with them.

The number belongs to the NC Employment Security Commission in Raleigh.  If you get a call from that number you probably are on unemployment through the state and have asked to be contacted if a job posting matches your qualifications.  When you call back now the message says to call your local employment security office.

I just started getting calls from this number today. On my caller ID above the number it says "NC ST GOVT", but no one leaves a message on my answering machine.

received a call from 919-733-0689. I called back the man's voice said it is night greeting, dial your 4 digit extension.

This is not a scam. This is a call being placed by the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina. The 4 digit code is your password to log on. They are trying to help you get placed into jobs you said you would take when you filed.

I have virgin mobile, i have gotten 5 calls today. same thing.

I have verizon and it is doing the same thing to me.

They keep calling over and over again for a day when they call it rings for a little bit then stops if you answer it there is no one there. If you call it bak there are no details as to the company just that its the day or night greeting message and wants you to enter a 4 digit extension.  They will do this throughout the entire day then stop for awhile, usually about a week then doit again. I am curious to know if all of the people getting these calls have AT&T and if this is a scam to get you to purchase their call blocker for 4.95 a month for each line

I keep getting calls from this number and when I call back I get night greeting and to key in the extension that I am trying to contact.

Can't count how many of these calls I got all from different numbers.  My caller ID says they are from the NC ST GOV.  Can't understand what they say when I call it back, "This is a night (something) enter your four digit code, blah, blah.  I hung up.  2day is the first day I have received the calls. If you figure them out, let us know!!!

Got a call from 919-733-0689, 919-733-5930, and 919-733-5907 within 2 hours. Today's date is 3/30/09.

Continue to get calls from this number with the same response. It began back in May...quit for a while...and has now started again.

ME TOO!!! i have gotten several calls in a row, with different ending numbers, some are now coming in w/5469, 5925, 5907, ending. i feel it must be a scam of some sort. if anyone knows, let us know what is going on!

I just received a call from 919-733-0689.  Instead of returning the call, I decided to Google and was amazed to find this sight.  Today's date just in case you didn't date stamp this message is 8/15/08.

Keep getting calls from 919-733-0689, 919-733-5910, 919-733-0687.  Nine calls from these numbers within an hour.  Hang up as soon as I answer.  Call back and get recording saying night greeting.
