These calls from internet based phone numbers that dial out only.  They come from debt collectors trying to verify current phone numbers of debtors so that they can try to collect on old debts that are either discharged by bankruptcy or that are barred by your states statute of limitations regarding collections.  If your debts are older than 7 years or discharged by bankruptcy, you DO Not have to legally pay these debts atleast in CA and they cant report to the credit bureaus.  Don't let them fool you, best thing to do is ignore them and not even answer, that's what voicemail is for. There are apps on your phone that blocks these types of call and numbers.   Also, some of these calls are from companies verifying phone numbers to sell to marketing companies.

Hopefully, whoever is making these calls is checking these message boards because I have a message for them.  I run these numbers you call from each time.  And each time I report that number to our State Attorney General's Office.  This is harrassment of the textbook kind and illegal.  It's also a violation of the Do Not Call Act.  Be prepared to face very steep fines for each call you make that can be traced back to you.  So far, there are 3 numbers that have now been traced back to whoever you are.  I hope you have deep pockets.  You might want to stop making these calls before you face actual criminal charges.  It's not nice to mess with people who have dealt with cyber and telecommunication crimes for quite some time now.  Yes, I do trace each of your calls and report each one of them.  Have a nice day.

When saying goodbye she said ok sweetie. Sounded like a black woman.

This guy is a creep - called our house, played some music, said "A**hole" and then my husband's name. We asked who is this and he hung up.

I have received several hang up calls from this number.   They either don't want you to be home which is worrisome, or they want to leave an automated message.  When I called back the recording said that the number was not in service.

Got a call from this guy today. Pretended he knew me and that we had last spoken in June last year. After he refused to give his name, I hung up.

got a call from this number at 11:03 today. answered it as it was from my same area code. they hung up as i answered and the call was disconnected.

redialed the number twice and got a message 'the number you have dialed in not in service, please check the number and dial again.....". on my 3rd and 4th try, i do not get the message but get a fast tone "busy" signal.

first I heard music and then a man said "Hello -George?" when I said  "no" he just hung up

Played new agey music, didn't talk.  I said hello a couple of times, then hung up.  Probably a kid

Called and claimed he was from "The Design Center" and asked if we needed home improvements. Didn't sound at all professional. Definitely sounded like a cell phone, and like he was busy doing something else at the same time. Very rushed and weird demeanor.

Just received a call from this number at 11:01 a.m. and answered, thinking it was someone I knew.  A young-sounding woman asked, "Is this C___ M____?" and when I said yes, the call disconnected.

Called my number 925-280-xxxx at 3:27 pm 1/23/2012. Music, click, thats it.

Calls and doesn't leave a message  - I don't pick up unknown phone numbers. These types have about as much regard for the Do Not Call law as the types that continue to drive while chatting on their cell phones even though it's illegal.

A male voice said my husband's name (eg. "John Doe?)  I answered with my name (This is Jane Doe).
The voice said "That is correct", and hung up.   Very, very strange.  I phoned the number back and got a recorded message that they don't take incoming calls.  Our cars were paid for a long time ago, and we don't owe any money.  Is it marketing (poor job if it is), or are they checking who is home?

Has been calling me everyday, sometimes several times but won't leave a message.  Today I finally answered & I could just hear someone breathing but they wouldn't talk.

someone from this number called said something really fast, when I ask what he said he hung up.

UPDATE*** - If you call this number back, it's a cellphone based out of Antioch. The number does not accept incoming calls - if you try and call it back, the call will be blocked.

This person is just f*ing around... please ignore him, or f back 2x as hard!

This guy called and asked for my husband- somehow he knew the name to ask for.  My young daughter answered and said he wasn't available, and he then asked "Where is he?"  He spoke in a harrassing kind of tone to my daughter.  She got scared and said "who is this?" and he hung up.

Called at 1:50PM and just played music.  Annoying.

This a***ipe called me today and said he was a general contractor in the area and was with my neighbor and was wondering if I needed any work done? He then proceeded to tell me that my neighbor bites her nails and it's really annoying, and then asked if I too bite my nails... and then hung up???

What a f****ng creeper - do not give this assclown your business if you were even remotely thinking about doing so!!!

Same thing happened to me. Musical tone then it just hangs up. Tried calling the number back, but doesn't go through.

I got the call 925-2197559 around 10:30 this morning. He ask to talk to my husband and i said he is not at home. When I asked if he wanted to leave the name, he hanged up. Ba Alert!!!

Got a call around 1pm today.  After a musical tone, the operator asked for my husband.  When I said he was out, I got disconnected.
