Received a text message from this number in the early morning hours inquiring my craiglist post.  They are half way across the country and certainly should not be interested in the beater car I was selling.  AVOID!!!!

My father in law has been hounding me to create a pal pal account, as he is selling a wedding band on craigslist.com (his idea) and informed me that the potential buyer was asking him to create a pay pal account so he can purchase the ring and offered him $200 more dollars for his "troubles". My idiot ex husband got caught up in the whole nigerian scammer western union thing years ago before anyone was aware of it and ended up getting sued by our bank for a whole lot of money. So my redflags went up, but I am an online merchant myself, and I use paypal in my online store, so I automatically assumed "gee if hes asking to use paypal, it must be legit...how could anyone hack or scam with paypal?" and after reading this boy was I WRONG. I even called paypal yesterday to double check about how to go about obtaining a payment from the craigslist "buyer", and they informed me the best way was to give them the associated email, or send an invoice to the buyers email etc. and they said nothing about the above potential scams using paypal. My father in law is on a fixed income, lives alone far away from family, has a service dog, and just diagnosed with parkinsons...and is selling his wedding ring just so he can afford his medications this month, as he often has to do without towards the end of the month, or decide not to eat the rest of the month. It really kills me that this scum bag had him completely on the hook, and luckily my father in laws laptop was broken and informed me of this "transaction", otherwise he wouldve easily clicked the fake "paypal" link this scum bag so courtiously sent to him and he wouldve entered in all his bank information and he wouldve cleaned him out completely. This person send my father a link to create a "paypal premier" account, which is a fake phishing site, and luckily my father didn't enter any account information otherwise he wouldve been one very sad, sad person. People like this make me absolutlely sick. It just amazes me how many people out there are of the utmost rotten pieces of SH*T ever to walk this earth, and should all be prosecuted, or hung by their toes as far as im concerned. This scum back should be rotting in a jail cell somewhere. These people prey upon the innocent and naive. This man uses a google phone number which is 925-709-4347, and will explain that he works and cannot talk on the phone and doesn't have time because of his job etc. DO NOT TRUST THIS, ITS A SCAM, THIS MAN WILL ROB YOU BLIND! Be Safe and ever use paypal on craigslist. Keep your sales local, and face to face, but always meet in a safe, well lit, public location and never go alone. ACCEPT ONLY CASH. Its the only way to keep your bank account safe....Id hate to say it, but your better off using ebay to sell something. Craigslist isn't really good for selling things....there is just too many scam artists out there finding new and inventive ways to take advantage and ruin peoples lives.

I got a text from this individual shortly before 2am about a craigslist ad I had posted. I'm very weary of any kinds of abnormalities when doing online business so that set off a redflag already. Not to mention the fact that it was from an area code not from my state...

The next day, they sent me another text saying;

"Many thanks for the response, I will like to purchase this from you, so consider it SOLD to me and tell others that you have sold it. The price is ok by me...and I'm ready to proceed with the transaction? i will be paying you with my PayPal account because it's attached to my bank account if you don't have a paypal account, kindly log on to www.paypal.com and setup for a premier account. and I do not have much time on me cos of my work. I'm buying this for"

That's word for word what I was told...of course I didn't fall for it and replied with a "If you want to discuss this sale further, you need to call me in person", then I searched the number on Google and found these postings, glad to see my instincts didn't fail me. Hopefully this information will help someone in the future...stupid crooks trying to take advantage of honest folk. Good luck folks!

And remember...always listen to your instincts when doing online business...if one little thing seems off to you- go with your instincts. Don't let these pricks take advantage of you.

Same story here. I posted the content of the email I received (with my email address removed):

Dear [my email address],

You have a Pending Payment.

This email is to inform you about a pending payment of $15,200.00 USD from a verified Premier Account Holder. He has paid for the shipping fee together with the price of your item.You are required to send the $900.00 USD meant for the shipping to his shipping company. We use this medium to inform you that we already have the total amount of $15,200.00 USD hostage with us to be credited to your account, and now the fund is fully deducted from the account of the buyer, but has not yet been credited to your account, so we want you to send the agent pick up fees to the Agent arranged by your buyer for the pick up of your merchandise by Western Union Money Transfer and back to us with the transfer details and once this is confirmed and verified, we will credit the total money into your account within 12 hours.
You should now go ahead and send the funds as you are 100% secure using PayPal.

We also were contacted by this individual claiming he wanted to buy a trike (three wheel motorcycle) from us for his uncle and it was to be a surprise. He keeps insisting that we send him our paypal information. He then gave us his email account to send the info to. We told him we do not wish to use paypal for this transaction. He began texting my father at all times of the night insisting we send him more information regarding our paypal information. We asked him a couple of question through the email he sent us and he never would respond back to our emails, he would only text. So we asked for his email address again and he sent us a totally different email which when searched through google I found the name to be associated with ebay scams and craigslist scams.  First email address sent: matthewskicki@gmail.com Second: Johndavidson003@gmail.com
