No one was on the other end when this number called our office and it never hung up/ended.  I called it back to do the same to them, but it never rang, said it was an active call but nothing happened.  I hung up.

said they were from google listings and need my personal info to update listings. i told them personal information i was not giving and telemarketing through mobile communications is illegal so i needed their info. they hung up and havent called back.

called my cell phone, which is on the do not call list.   They asked for the owner of our company,  I said I would try to help them, and they hung up on me.

I got the same call today (June 28, 2013). Except for the fact that they claim to be "Ugo Yellowpages." I too heard chattering in the background. They are not from the United States, contrary to their "Cloaked" number, which is a federal offense for them to use in any way, shape or form. It's an unsolicited call, and constitutes as harassment, especially when you tell them to not call you anymore and/or adhere to the "do-not call registry". They never listen, and they assume that they're in a non-extradition country or situation, and that's why they do it. Report them to the authorities, if they continue to harass.

I got the same type of call, probably from the same guy as you did. They are scam-artists, and lie when they outright tried to "sell" something. The number is also a "Cloaked" number, which is against federal law in the United States for any Telemarketer or scam-artists to do. Technically, debt collectors can legally cloak their numbers, but that's a gray-area in itself.
Don't give them any information. If they continue to harass, report them to the authorities.

They called me again, just now. Let the 1st guy go through all his info again.
Told him I don't give out cc info over the phone.

Put me on hold.

Supervisor gets on and tries for a good 5 minutes to hard sell me.

I stood on I don't give out cc info over the phone.

He said it would cost him 5-dollars to send me the info via mail.

Told him, I'm confused, you can't put a few pieces of paper in an envelope and mail it for 50-cents.

He got mad and can't believe why I won't give him my cc for 3.99 over the phone as he works for
a very good company that won't hurt their name by ripping off customers, like I described to him again.
(A company told me 5 dollars and charged me 500) Just making that up.

He got even more mad after I told him, I do business my way. Send an invoice and I will mail a check.
Told me that his company doesn't take checks, just cc and debt cards.
I asked him, how can a company not accept checks, only cc's????

That was it, he signed off with me and said good bye.

Won't stop calling me

Ok, now this is just silly. The same first guy called me just now. Still wanting a plastic cc number to process
the $3.95. I told him I can't give him a cc number, even a personal one because I once bought a product
like his and they told me 5-dollars and then charged my cc 500-dollars. Sorry, I won't do it.

He still begged and begged me for a cc, Kept stating it's only $3-dollars.

I think it might have sunk in that I'm not going to give him a cc number finally.

Unbelievable.. The 1st guy just called me back and asked why I did not purchase from his supervisor.

I told him, I don't have a cc on me and I do not give out my cc number over the phone.
Told him I asked his supervisor to mail me an invoice and I'd write a check.

"You don't have and plastic cards?"

I do have plastic cards but I don't buy over the phone. Told him someone once told me 5-dollars and
then charged 'my plastic card' 500-dollars. So I don't do that anymore.

" Oh...oh I understand.... but it's only 4-dollars if I could get your plastic card "  !!!!!???!!!?????

He says they only except plastic cards, not checks. So I told him, I don't use plastic, I only use checks.

I hung up on him after that. We are getting nowhere fast.  LOL  What dummies.

This guy calls, from a boiler room, as you can hear so much background noise it's insane.
Slow day, figured I'm waste his time from calling others with this scam.

Kept the first guy on the phone for at least 10 minutes, then got transferred to the guy who takes the payment.
All the while, never saying the word 'yes'. Just 'correct or no'.

He tried and tried to get a cc out of me for a $3.95 dollar bill to setup my listing and website.
Kept telling him I don't have plastic, just cash and checks.
Asked him repeatably, to send the invoice 'so I could pay'.
Think he said he would mail it, just before he hung up on me.

Claimed his contact information was 877-999-8120 and it's ugoyellowpages-dot-com for their website.
Which doesn't even work. Can't get a search for a business work at all.

Complete scam artists there. Can barely understand what they were saying.

Called asking if I was the "business owner" of some paint company that evidently had our number previously.  (We get numerous calls for them off and on as well as some person who evidently owes people money).

Same as others, silent treatment then they hung up.

Dispute the charge with your credit card company and watch your card for invalid activity.

Caller ID is great!  Every number that I do not personally recognize, I wait for the answering machine to pick up.  If it's something or someone I wish to speak to, I answer.  I've had lots of calls just like this....and I NEVER give info over the phone.

Did not say anything. Just silence and disconnected after a few seconds.

However, saying "yes" on a phone call does not constitute a legally binding and enforceable contract.  If you didn't order anything, you can, per USPS regulations, not pay for anything sent and also do not have to return it.  You can be "nice" and call them to tell them this, but you'd be wasting your time.  They can't legally come after you for not honoring a verbal contract.

Same sort of thing mentioned above. Claims to be from 'Yellow Pages'. My business already has its listing so I told them as much and told them to take me off their list. Didn't get to a stage to determine if it was a scam as mentioned above but I think the previous comments speak for themselves,

Just got a phone call and I said A+Tutors?  They said, "May I speak to the owner of the business."  When I asked who was calling they disconnected.  It looks like they wanted to see if my business was still alive.  I heard all around chatter in the background.

This number is NOT the real Yellow Pages from any real phone company. It is an online scammer "yellow page" site. Do Not Answer and if you do DO NOT SAY YES to anything PERIOD!!! These companies record the calls and won't tell you and once you say YES they have you on record ordering the advertising and "CD"

I got the silent call too.  From an earlier post (Chris in Philly PA), I think I know who this is.  

Though I am guessing, I believe the caller(s) somehow represent the Yellow Pages.  They may be a contractor for YP.  The marketing company for YP is called "BERRY".   The people on the other end has a strong Indian accent.  My wife got a call from them earlier today.   They are pushy and want to collect information.  Just hang up on them!  

I bought an adverstisment for the Yellow Pages.  They really messed up the add.  What a waste of time and money.  I wrote them two letters to prompt them with a reply, and yet to no avail.  

I reget doing business with "BERRY" and the Yellow Pages.
