They have called several times and asked for my husband and he works and when I call them back to tell to take our name off the calling list but, the number is no longer in service.

Received a call from 936-568-8936. Caller id said 'Nacodoches TX'. I didn't recognize the number, so I didn't answer, but I did Google the number and found this page. My loan was sold to Green Tree a year ago, so that's probably why they are calling. I will answer the next time and ask them to add me to their internal do not call list. Be aware that if you have an existing business relationship with them, they are allowed to ignore the do not call list, up to the point where you ask them to not call you. At that point they are required to add you to their internal do not call list.
From the Do Not Call rules (https://www.donotcall.gov/faq/faqbusiness.aspx#who):
A telemarketer or seller may call a consumer with whom it has an established business relationship for up to 18 months after the consumer's last purchase, delivery, or payment - even if the consumer's number is on the National Do Not Call Registry. In addition, a company may call a consumer for up to three months after the consumer makes an inquiry or submits an application to the company. And if a consumer has given a company written permission, the company may call even if the consumer's number is on the National Do Not Call Registry.
One caveat: if a consumer asks a company not to call, the company may not call, even if there is an established business relationship. Indeed, a company may not call a consumer - regardless of whether the consumer's number is on the registry - if the consumer has asked to be put on the company's own do not call list.

If you are here, your mortgage was most likely sold to Green Tree Servicing LLC., (a subsidiary of Walter Investment Management Corp. (WAC)). They are calling to trap people into their refi/modification scam - DO NOT FALL FOR IT! They are in the business of stealing homes through foreclosure. They are NOT a mortgage company, but rather a COLLECTION AGENCY. Also, Google "Green Tree Victims" and "Consumer Affairs Green Tree Servicing," and read the slew of complaints these unscrupulous bottom-feeders have against them. If they have not messed with your mortgage account yet, be warned that they will eventually. Usually peoples' escrow accounts are grossly miscalculated to make it look like the homeowner is behind or late on their mortgage, thus foreclosure proceeding begin. Read all you can on them before you fall victim. And, if you can refinance AWAY from them, go to a Credit Union, otherwise you will be sold right back to Green Tree or another entity that works in the same thieving manner.

Called us today saying was in cahoots with Greentree mortgage. Represents residential md a home warranty insurance with bad revues. Hung up on them when he got testy with me.

Got the call this a.m. with no message left; have no idea who they are, does anyone? Caller ID only showed Naco9doches, TX; we never answer calls that show only city & state; if not a person's name we recognize, phone is never answered.

We got a call from this number today. They swore they could bypass the "Do Not Call" list because they had a business relationship with us. I came on to find out who they are and found this post. According to caller ID, they're "Effective Teles".
No idea who they are, but my husband repeated twice that we're on the "Do Not Call" list because we don't want to talk about whatever product they're selling, then he hung up when the person at the other end of the line started into the sales pitch again....

Anyone know who this number belongs to. They must call a million times. I have to unplug my phone during the day. So much for being on the do not call list
