Got yet another call from them today on my cell @ 8:40 PM. This time it was actually a human asking for someone with a Vietnamese last name. When I answered, they immediately asked for this person and did not identify themselves.

Asset Acceptance continues to call despite the fact that I have filed an affidavit with them (from the FTC) that has established I was a victim of fraud. They continue to harass. There's gotta be something in the lawbooks that prevents them from continuing to harass, especially since the credit bureau removed the account in question due to fraud!

I have also started getting calls from this number.  They do not leave any messages and hang up if I answer.  I'm going to send them a letter in the mail to stop calling my number (they legally have to when they receive that letter)

Got this call on my cell at 7:55 PM on 6/19 asking for someone with a Spanish-sounding name. Also from Asset Acceptance. Have no clue why they are calling me. I have had the same cell # for 6 years.

Received a call from them this morning at 6:10 AM. After I advised the idiot that called me that it was illegal to make solicitation calls before 9AM. I proceeded to 'ball' him out for 30 minutes before he finally got the message and hung-up. I would be suprised if I hear from them ever again.

I just received a phone call from 940-295-1782.  I always let my answering machine pick up my calls unless I know who's calling.  I thought collection agencies are supposed to identify themselves and let you know why they are calling.  There was no message left. I don't owe anybody anything.  I have an excellent credit rating and I have never received a collection notice.  To me, this is harassment.

I have spoken with representatives of this company (Asset Acceptance) numerous times -- at least twice in the last month alone -- to inform them that the person for whom they are looking does not live at this address, nor do we know him, in spite of the similarity of his and my husband's names.

I am always told "I have removed this number" from their database, but the calls keep coming.  Today I asked the young man with whom I spoke for an address where I can send a letter, and the following is the address he provided:

10500 Heritage Drive, Suite 200
San Antonio, TX   78216.

I am going to write today and am going to send the letter via certified mail.  It annoys me that I have had to end up spending almost $5.00 to get some relief from these constant calls, but if it works, it will be worth it.

I am also going to call the Texas Attorney General's office to see if there are any other avenues I can pursue to stop these calls, and if I get any additional information I will post it on this site.

It's another telemarketer. Try this:

1) You answer & no one is there: hit ###### many times in rapid succession (creates an even-spaced beep) and hang up; Machine may interpret that your number is bad and take you off the list.

2) You answer & get a sales pitch: say "please hold" and set the phone down till they hang up; If you always waste their time like this, they'd be stupid not to take you off the list.

I don't know who it is, but they've called a couple times and don't say anything when I answer...they just hang up or sit on the line.  It's really annoying and I consider this harassment!  I don't know of anything I can do about it, but I am going to check!

Any debt that is 7 ears or older, is automatically removed from your credit report. It can be renewed only if the company that holds the debt takes you to court to reinstate. If reinstated, it will be valid again for 7 years. After 7 years, and the debt is removed from your credit report, the collection agency can still call you and attempt to collect the debt, but if you don't pay it, there is nothing they can do.
In my case, AA bought my so called debt from The Marquis Apts. They claimed I owed them 1 month back rent when I moved. I have advised them and AA numerous times that I wouldn't pay them because I don't owe them this extra month as I did not have a lease (I had month-month) and was paid in full. Why they keep calling me is beyond my understanding. Fortunately, it has now been 6 years, and will be removed permanently from my crdit in 1 year. I told they will never blackmail me into paying and that if they call I will abuse their callers to no end.

Going through the same thing with Asset Acceptance!  I had a debt from Wells Fargo in the early 90's that was taken care of for about $1500.  Then got a letter in the mail from Asset Acceptance about 3 years later saying that I owed them $3000 for the same debt.  They told me that it was a government funded student loan and that could not be taken off my record from my bankruptcy.  I got nervous and started paying them small monthly payments that I still could not afford.  Then I started reading about all the illegal crap they are pulling and realized that I screwed myself.  I stopped paying them again and now I get about ten calls a day on my cell phone from this 940# it rings twice and hangs up or when I answer it there is no one on the other end!  I also get calls from a 319# that I assume is another # of theirs.   I do not know what to do?  Should I call my bankruptcy lawyer and find out if this debt is actually valid or did I really mess things up when I started paying them again?  I obviuosly cannot pay them $3000, cannot handle my cell phone ringing off the hook and not to mention the negative mark on my credit report!

I get calls from this number on my cellphone maybe once a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. They called me today at 6:30 PM but I, of course, didn't answer and (like always) no message was left. The one time I did answer, it sounded like my call was being transfered to somebody because there was no noise whatsoever.
I was told that if a debt collector calls you, they need to leave a message saying who they are/why they're calling, so until they leave me a message that has something to do with me, I'll continue to ignore their calls.

These idiots have been calling me nonstop for the past 2 months or so. Sometimes it's as often as a couple times a day 2 days in a row. I usually press "ignore" on my cell, but one time I answered and nobody said anything. I was getting really ticked off because 1) I'm on the Do Not Call list, and 2) one time I answered to hear a recorded message and I pressed the button it said to press if "this person cannot be reached at this number" and it still didn't work. They think I'm Chad Ellis, whoever that is.

Finally my sister got angry enough to call *them* after they called me at 8:30 AM last Saturday and woke her up. Apparently they're some "debt collector" somewhere in Texas. Some lady picked up and my sister asked if she could see the number on a screen. When she said yes and started reciting it, my sister yelled at her not to call it again. So far so good, if I don't hear from them for a week or so I'll assume they took me off the list.

I am filing a complaint with the Texas Attorny General tonight.

Please everyone - file a complaint also. Greg Abbott cannot ignore ALL of us.
Also in his website there are other places to complain. I plan on filing a complaint with all of them. We need to stop this company!

If you look up "assett acceptance complaints" on the web, you will find horror stories regarding this company

Apparently I spoke too soon. After I got a call today, I called them back and told the guy who answered that I was on the Do Not Call list and to stop calling me. If they continue to call after that, I'll waste their time just like they do to the people they call: I'll call them back, wait until someone answers, and say nothing until they hang up. They would be have to be idiots to continue pursuing someone who only wastes their time.

I was considering emailing them, but frankly I'm afraid to since I don't know what the possible repercussions might be. I have no idea how much actual info they have about me even though I'm not this Chad person they seem to think I am. The only debt I have is a student loan since I recently graduated, and I'm paying off the interest. It's none of this company's business, only the bank who handled the loan.

I have received about 4 calls from this number in the last month, they never state who they are or what they want.  They keep asking for Matt Britten.  I stay on the line and press 4 to let them know they have the wrong number.  Then a guy picks up and states only Matt's name.  Once I tell him that I am not him he starts getting upset with me because I am wearing him out that I have told him time and time again that Matt is not at this phone number, all the guy can say is you did not talk to me.  So I state I don't give a damn who I talked to I have been through this 4 times and finally he asks for my number to take off the list but he only got 6 numbers when he hangs up.  This stuff just burns me up and I am tired of it, I have better things to do than waste my time with some imbecile that can't hold a real job.  Anyone had any luck contacting the Attorney General's office or anything else?

This company called my mom today and they told her that she owes 1100.00 on a well fargo loan from 1988! My mom was really freaked out even though they had my dads last 4 digits of his social security, my mom told them that this was not her loan that they never had a loan from wells fargo. My mom believes it is some type of fraud cause she says she does not even think it is legal to try and collect on a 20 year old loan and espacially considering the fact that it is not her loan. Any suggestions to what she should do??

I get calls from this number on my cell phone which eats up my minutes and I have never had any business dealings with this company before.  I don't answer these calls because that would only cost more minutes.  I am tired of being used in this manner.

I get calls all the time and they don't leave messages.  FYI  if they are calling about a credit card debt, check your state laws. In Ok they can only collect or try to collect for 3 yrs from your last payment at which time they have to charge it off.  Most states are 3 to 5 years. They are calling me about a credit card account from 8 years ago!  Also if it is over 7 years old make them remove it from your credit report.

I received a called from this number. I do not answer the phone for numbers I do not know. They left a message for someone that I do not know. Now I will start calling them and asking for someone they do not know like Paul Misscall. I have unlimited long distance calling so let’s see if they like it when someone keeps calling every three minutes  for a few days.

We keep getting calls from them repeatedly as well. It comes in spurts. Nothing for two weeks then constant calling for two weeks, then nothing for a week then constant harassment for the next week. I've tried answering a few times and no one seems to be on the line. Extremely annoying
