Got 2 calls just now and one earlier this week.

the ANI/caller Id is easy to manipulate in situations like this, and it is frequently manipulated to make it impossible to track down the caller (especially for fraud). The only way to really know where it is coming from is to work with your dial tone provider to track the call and find out where it is really coming from (not where the caller ID says it is coming from) and work with them to lodge a complaint. This only really works if you are consistently receiving phone calls, to get some good call examples but you may decide it is worth the effort.

The FCC isn't going to be able to do anything with it, unless the actual company making the calls is identified

Craig Bolin has been connected with Mark and Mike Maxey (Brownsville/Harlingen texas) through numerous operations since late 1990's. They were Max-Tel Communications, inc and Affordaphone inc.
I believe they may have gone ther separate ways, splitting auto-dialers and sharing the data lists.

Craig Bolin's businesses are not in good standing as per Texas Franchise Tax website, except for Bolin Real Estate Management, Inc. This must be where he pretends to be wholesome.
When Bolin and Maxey still had Max-Tel, papers were filed for them to have a certificate of authority to operate telcomm in Oregon (revoked 2004) The Oregon paperwork gives Max-Tel address the same as now used by Bolin Real Estate Management, inc:

Just so you all know... Protege Svcs, SMTMCO.net, Alternative Res are scams.
The Protege Svcs 800 456-1412 is run by a company called The Dalby Institute 800 620-6700 where they try to scam you into buying their course on making huge amounts of money in buying and selling mortgage notes. I finally got the Dalby Institute to take my numbers out of their computers.
I am not positively sure about SMTMCO.net and Alternative Res, but I get calls from all 3 so when I receive their call I just pick up the receiver and hang it up immediately, that way I am not charged for the call, and it terminates their computer loop from calling me again for a few weeks.

Here is a suggestion. Use your cell phone with free nights/weekends. First (to block their reaping your number) dial *67 then the number 1-940-591-6724 to SMTMCO.net. Keep dialing until you get in. I have found if I do not hang up when it hangs up, I can keep it on the line indefinitely. Run his bill up without his making progress. Keep doing this until the B*****d files bankruptcy and quits this crap! Then someone drop by 1703 16th street in Bridgeport, Texas and give his what for!. File a complaint with a ledger outlining when this idiot called you with the FCC. He is calling my 800number time after time, running my bill up. I want the idiot gone. Another suggestion is to get the blocking service and block his number by dialing *60#3 then after getting a dial tone enter his number then # and hang up.

This guy is still at it.  Received a phone call to my 800 phone line tonight and the only thing I heard was a fax machine.

sounds like a fax machine

This is an autodialer that is plainly dialing Toll Free numbers looking for live numbers and hanging up. Not a sinlgle week went by without 2-3 calls from any one of these autodialer numbers. I filed a complaint with the fcc, since autodialing toll free numbers is illegal. Well, all the sudden I have not gotten a call to my toll free number in a whole 30 days or more so hopefully the fcc complaint did the trick.

I've listed my home and cell phone numbers twice on the Do Not Call List sine it began.  For the past few months I've been getting numerous calls from Protege Svcs, SMTMCO.net, Alternative Res using different numbers each time they call. They call at all hours, it's crazy.  I don't know who they are and no one ever speaks on the phone.  I've also tried calling these numbers back, but like everyone else, no one answers, all you hear it beeps and clicks.  This is outright telephone harassment, it's criminal and should be stopped!

Let our government chase that pr**k Craig Bolin.  Use the FCC web based complaint form at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm to report all numbers from the irritant 940-591-xxx extensions (and there are many).

Local 2 investigates electricity so expensive even the power company cannot afford it.
Pre-Buy Electric Company, based in Bridgeport, Texas, has shut the doors and turned off the lights.
It closed Monday, leaving nearly 8,500 customers looking for a new electric company.

Investigative reporter Amy Davis spoke with Craig Bolin, the owner of Pre-Buy on the phone. Bolin said with the rising cost of electricity, most consumers cannot afford the pre-pay option.

"It?s liable to get where electricity is a luxury," Bolin said.
Pre-Buy electric customers paid for their electricity up front, like a pre-paid cell phone.
Rates aren't the lowest, but for people with bad credit or a history of late payments, it's sometimes the only option.

As of today, all of Pre-Buy?s customers have been transferred to what's called the "Provider of Last Resort."
Consumers won't even know their electric company went out of business until they receive a letter in the mail.
The downside to the provider of last resort is that it's an electric company you don't choose.

Consumers are automatically switched to avoid an interruption in their service.
Providers of last resort are often much more expensive, and in many instances, they require customers to pay a deposit to keep electricity on.

If you can't pay or find a new company, your power will be shut off.
A spokesman with the Public Utility Commission tells me it's still trying to get in touch with someone from Pre-Buy Electric.

They say the company was required to notify its customers that it was going out of business. If customers paid up front for electricity they haven't yet received, the PUC says those customers should be refunded.

Here's another one folks, from SMTMCO.net - but the number was 940-891-6097 and it was a fax machine.  I answered and about lost my hearing when the stupid fax went to squealing.  I looked up the number on the msn reverse lookup and it said it was unpublished but was a land line in Denton, TX.

I had a call on my 1-800 number from this number on 8/26. I was away from the phone, so did not answer it, but my 1-800 service software shows the call as having come from Denton, TX. Today, 8/31, I had a similar call from (940) 297-0740, also from Denton. Both calls lasted less than a minute, and the recorded message today sounded like someone was holding their hand over the mouthpiece. I checked the website mentioned in the comments above, and found that clicking on the main link to get in to the site leads to a page that doesn't exist. Hmmm...

Got what sounded like a phone call on my fax machine, moments later my phone rang...CID says SMTMCO.NEt...no one on the line.

I looked up SMTMCO.NET it is a business supply sales outfit.

Received 2 calls in a row from this number and 940-297-0716 with the same message about going somewhere for all my office needs followed by a quick hangup.  Before I'd go to creeps like this I would prefer to move my office overseas.

Got a call from this number. Nobody spoke and the call got disconnected few secs after I spoke. I tried calling the number back and heard about 5 beeps/knocking. After which the call got disconnected. Who are all these messed up people or automated fone call generators. Someone should get hold of them and punish them too.
