I got a first call yesterday from this number. Who are they?

CALLS ALL THE TIME, NOT ABLE TO TALK IF CALL BACK, GET A RING TONE AND HANG UP./

They call my landline at least 3 or 4 times a week.  If I do answer, all I get is the tone you get when someone is pushing numbers on the other side.  Never an answer.  How do I stop them without having to pay the telephone company to have the number blocked?

I've been getting these same type calls from (940) 381-2159 and other numbers all of which are being generated in Denton, TX.
Does anyone else use BCN Telecom.
I have a theory that my (800) service provider may be creating the calls to increase the bill. (????)

Been getting calls almost daily from them.

Best form to file is 1088 as the beeps are what they call "War Dialing" which is looking for a fax machine to spam and it qualifies as 'Abandoned Calls" as when you pick it up no one is there.

On screen 1 I selected: Telemarketing, Prerecorded Messages and Do-Not-Call
On screen 2 I selected: 'Abandoned Calls' ('Silent Calls,' 'Dead Air Calls' from a telemarketer) and 'War Dialing' received on your residential or business telephone

Same BS as everyone else.

I get the same calls everyone else have described.  They are place almost weekly.  I have called the number and get several tones.

didn't leave a message. they took .9 min on my phone line before hanging up.

This number, and a string of other 940 and 817 numbers, has called us multiple times.  No fax (though, sounds like a fax tone), no one on the phone, no way to look them up or ask them to stop calling.  Filing a Junk Fax 1088 Form with the FCC, recommend you do so as well.

Same here...  However, the calls were coming in on my land line for the last few 4-6 months.  Started with a fax tone and later they started pressing two touch tones, attempting a 2 digit answering machine hacking.

Last call I got was 1/9/09 at 1:30pm.

This time it came in on my AT&T cellphone.  I answered and heard a Fax line tone, then someone dialing touch tones, in very poorly performed musically a'rhythmic childlike fashion of "Mary had a little lamb"(as if intended to irritate).  I believe I heard breathing as well between dead spots.

Perhaps someone has a 'reverse call back' subscription and could post details on this number for others to see and call back to irritate them with a song or two?

I got a call from this number, and like the two previous entries, I answered and heard 2 brief Fax tones, then the line went dead. I have noted this number on my cell phone and will not answer it the next time it rings. It eats into my airtime and indeed my overall time (Nwankama Nwankama)

Like the comment about calls from 940-381-2168, they call my regular phone ?and when I answer tell me that was ?not a valid entry.? ?  When I did not answer, I heard a brief fax-like sound, & then they hung up.  I?ve gotten several calls, but just noticed they called the same time the last two weeks ? apparently, it?s programmed.  I?m concerned they?re hijacking lines for long distance calls.  I wish someone there would call the local police ? they can contact the owner of the line, but the phone company hides that from us.
