Called my cell and got a fax/data line.  Called back and was mostly busy but finally connected and was perpetually autodialing different numbers in sequence every 30 seconds.

Calls a couple times a day. When I answer it is a fax or data line.  This has been going on for over a month.  I'm going to have to change my phone number to stop it.

Clearly this is in violation of the Do Not Call list.  There is no option to Opt Out either.  You're tell me that after all these months, no one can stop them??  Something seems wrong here!!

Update. The problem didn't stem from the company in Denton, Texas I was in contact with.  They were very helpful however. I called Verizon to try and report possible fraud, but the department rep seemed to be fixated on not being able to reimburse my charges, because I don't have a Verizon account. I told her I didn't care about the charges really, I just wanted the calls to stop. Ultimately I called my carrier (CountryConnect) and dropped my 800 number. Phone phreaking has been around since the 50's? It just seems ridiculous I would have to give up an 800 number or contact my carrier every month to get reimbursement, or block all incoming calls from Texas. I'm at a loss right now, but I'm not deterred. I would like to hear from anyone about this problem/their experience. Please post!

I'm having the same problem as everyone else here.  My land line (800 number) is getting called by a fax machine a few times a week.  I am being charged .30 to .50 cents a call, and haven't found a way to make it stop. I am in agreement with Jan, and will call the numbers provided when/if my other attempts to stop this call fails. I am in contact with a company from Denton, Texas. I cross-referenced the numbers on my phone bill with their contact list online and none matched. However, there are several people working for this company (IT/others) not listed on the web site. I am currently trying to call 3 different people in their IT department, but have yet to speak with anyone other than a receptionist. Anyway, I will post back when/if I find out anything.

Called my phone company & was told they can not block area code 940 from my phone! They are putting a trace on my phone & will be contacting the phone provider for these numbers.

I have been receiving calls every day or two from these numbers for months.  I have blocked them one by one but there is am endless list of numbers they use.  I have been on the national do not call registery since it's inception.  I am very frustrated with this disrespect for the law.  We need to stop these people.  Please report your harassing phone calls so we can stop them.

Since this appears to be a case of robocalling...possibly using equipment and phone number lists rented from the county or even being used illegally, our best bet is to track all of these calls and present evidence to FCC to shut it down. I am in Pennsylvania so I have no intent of filing any kind of harassment suit in Texas. As the saying goes "Don't Mess With Texas" But Philadelphia has some of the best lawyers in the country. First let's see if the Robocall ban catches these bandits. If not, we'll bring in the heavy artillery.
BTW-since they call me on my 800 number, I have to pay for every call the robocaller makes to me. Therefore, I have a significant "loss" to claim beyond violation of the DO NOT CALL law.

I have had the same problem.  I called the District Attorneys office and they said they have been receiving complaints, but they can't do anything.  They suggested to call the local law enforcement and file a harrassment complaint.  That is my next step.

This number is part of a VERY long list of #'s with a 940 area code, from Denton, TX. Been going on for months. Now, I am going to call Denton Co. Law enforcement along with their commissioner and constable.Here are their numbers. If enough of us call and complain maybe something will be done.

This is a fax machine attempting to reach my home number that does NOT have fax machine attached to it.  When I call the number back, it is always busy!  !@#$%^&*!

Keep getting this number every day for 3 weeks straight please stop. All I get is a fax on the other end.

Fax dial tone but when answered by my fax it did not connect, a few minutes later another call (940) 297-0734 arrived on my cell phone with a fax tone, both numbers are not valid.
