Yesterday I got a call from 864-641-3279, "Capital Processing Service", that was remarkably similar to the calls I got from Cardinal Legal Network, including the format of their voicemail greeting and the fact that the mailboxes were full. It *could* be a coincidence.

DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR CARD INFORMATION...I did... and it has been a nightmare!!!  I've never received a call like that before, and it really scared me. I immediately knew that I had made a huge mistake giving them my card info.  I contacted my credit card company, and they put me through to the fraud department.  I told them what happened.  The name of the company that called me was Pinnacle Payment Services. 252-375-3449 (This # is now disconnected).  I told them that they had used scare tactics threatening court and a civil lawsuit..  I gave my  credit card company all phone numbers Pinnacle had given me. VISA said they would investigate.  I called CC company today and they had removed all charges because they found they were fraudulent.  I also canceled my CC and got new a new one-to make sure they couldn't draw more money from it.. Today, I recieved the same taped message with a different phone number (941-256-0413).  Here we go again!

I called our Attorney Generals Office and she told me that she hears this story everyday.  She said that they try to stop these scammers, but they keep changing phone numbers and they usually use cell phones.

I got another call (this time it was a recorded message, not a live person). I tried calling back; mailbox full. I tried calling back again yesterday and the number was out of service. HA! That was most gratifying.

Idiots keep calling and leaving retarded messages with incorrectly used legal terminology and phony court docket numbers. I'm a federal attorney and what they are doing is felony extortion. I could hang them on wire fraud alone, but these cowards are too scared to send anything in the mail b/c that constitutes mail fraud which has more severe federal penalties. I'm pissed off enough now after numerous recorded messages that my office is considering going after these con artists. Sleep well, fools.

First off thanks to your hubby for his service and that is some crazy mess. Why would they tell you to go to court somewhere else but your own state and county. Then add the silly restraining order jargon to it makes no sense at all. Besides restraining orders are for you to stay away from someone. If they want to try this on people to scam money then at least make some sense. Glad you saw through it to call them on it.

My husband & I have never been to Florida. ..& we have never taken a payday loan or anything like that. My husband is a disabled veteran!  Hes a good,  honest,  pay your bills kind of man. A restraining order?  Really?! How can they get away with this?? Its doesnt seem right or just. My husband is disabled fighting for the rights & freedom of rhe citizens of this great country! Then these scammers abuse their freedom of speech to harass my husband! I call BULLS###!! ITS JUST NOT RIGHT!!!

They have been working at this for a long time. They just sell numbers between "companies" and try to get you to pay for something you don't owe.

Loan Type: Payday Loan
Status: Final Review/Pending Recall
Settlement Offer: 50% Reduction
Letter Date: 8/6/2013

Dear Sir or Madam,

This letter is to verify that we, Samuel Sole & Associates, LLC, as acting agent for your lien holder, have received your account for collection.  Your account was sold to our client due to non-payment. The account was then placed with our office with an outstanding balance for collections.  We have agreed to accept a settlement payment and/or various hardship payment options.

The client has agreed to accept a settlement for 50% less than the balance due.  This payment would result in your file having a zero balance.  However, if you are unable to take advantage of the proposed settlement offer, we can negotiate payment options to accommodate your financial hardship.   If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact our office Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 7:00 pm Eastern Standard Time and Friday 9:00am to 5:30pm Eastern Standard Time at 1-888-978-3565.

Any missed or returned payments, charge-back payments and/or disputed payments will result in the settlement offer becoming null and void.  In such a case, the balance in full will be considered due and payable in full.  However, upon sufficient clearance of funds, your account will be deemed paid in full with a zero balance.

This has been an attempt to collect a debt; any information obtained will be used for that purpose.

Sincerely,

Frank Ricard

The Do Not Call list does not apply to this type of call.  However, if you feel they are harassing you or violating the FDCPA, you can file a complaint with the FTC and your State Attorney General.

Pretended to be an investigator and telling me I had a court date for a restraining order and to call back. I heard a call center in the background and that's not how police do business. I don't have legal problems anyway.

Just called me told me about restraining order how this credit card company will take me to court extra.  If I paid $1000, something they wouldn't take me to court. I said I am not paying you anything over the phone etc, you can mail this to my address she confirmed my address and told me the affadavit would be arriving tomorrow and I can settle this matter in court and hung up on me.  Obviously she was mad because I cleary told her several times I am not giving you bank information over the phone or my credit card to pay anything without proof, that's when she got irate.  If I owe someone something then mail me a bill or the court papers..

Says something about being named in a civil suit. And gave a case number as well.  I called them and told them my attorney was handling it, and would be in contact with them and they just said. ok.

Same story here: I got a voicemail message from an actual person who said his name unintelligibly. Blah blah fraud case blah restraining order blah forward this to your attorney blah 48 hours to respond. I call the number they leave and - gasp! - the mailbox is full. I will probably try again tomorrow just to see what happens, but I will sleep better tonight knowing this is a scam.

When you google a company's name and the first page is complaints about it or fuzzy matches to other things, there's something fishy.

I received my second automated call from this number today.  The first came several weeks ago.  Gives some sort of case number and refers to a restraining order.  I have not called back either time because someone told me that I would be acknowledging whatever the call was about was legitimate.  Since I have no knowledge about a restraining order I just didn't call.  I am almost 71 years old and would be interested if it is mainly elderly people being contacted.

One reverse phone number site I checked showed it being a cell phone in the Sarasota area.  But I would have had to pay to get name and address.

I finally started using the call block feature on my home phone because of people like this.  On my cell phone I set up a contact labeled SCAM and assigned it a different ringtone than other calls.
All scam numbers that call or have called end up there.  Nowadays I don't tend to know which scammer is calling...just that one is.  Makes for a much easier life and less disruptions on my time and cell time.
