This number calls day n nyte .today thy called. and forgot to hang thr phone i heard forgion man talking.thy said could you hear and lots static. thy are listing to our conversations

It is a Verizon follow up and they tell you prior to you talking to anyone that you can participate if you wish - if you say yes or click on 1 - whatever it is - then they will call you back after you finish talking with their employee!

Yes it is Verizon - not a scam - just a customer satisfaction survey!  I didn't realize who the number was so called back!

949-286-3971  number called me about 30 seconds AFTER I got off the phone with Verizon Support. The caller info was blocked so I did not answer it.  Later I called Verizon to report this and the gal had no clue YET same thing happened again. This MUST BE Verizon for it to be happening that fast.

This is a prepaid phone I do not use every day.  Unknown calls are usually telemarketers which are not  okay on cell phones

i also got calls from this number, and i am also hacked to the nth degree.  what i find odd is that i have proof that i am being hacked by the demon seed of a man i dated (and his whacko aunt), so i wonder what the connection is.

This number is from Verizon Wireless. It's an automated call in response to my calling Verizon Wireless for account help, to ask me to take a survey. It gives an 866 number to call back if interested in taking the survey in regards to my call for assistance. Just a quality survey.

This number, 949-286-3971, is from Time Warner Cable. Advertising. Just don't answer!

It is NOT Verizon. I have a Verizon prepay and they reversed the charge for the call.

That. is awful! It is a shame that the criminals have more rights to privacy. etc than the victims of these ridiculous scams do! I hope you somehow manage to get a fair and just end result.

I just got a call from 949 286 3971.  Didn't answer it as I never answer numbers I don't know anyway. I did just recently change phones and use customer service, but if it is honestly Verizon doing a survey etc, you would think it would also say Verizon on the caller id. Not worth risking it for a silly survey wish all the scammers out there. I am VERY grateful for this site to be able to check these numbers out and stay informed. Thank all of you very much!!

Ys its jst a survery bout ur service calling 611 but the thing is all my s*** has been hacked by a joker named john barton. hes been doin international text somehow on my phone and ive been gettin charged. but yet verixin wont tell me what the number is thats bein text.

Today I had just talked to Verizon Wireless about my phone plan on which I had a question and talked to an actual person with Verizon Wireless...Then about 20 minutes later, or less, i got a call from 949-286-3971 and wasn't able to answer it, so it went to voice mail....In listening to my voice mail message, the sound came on at first which comes on my mobile phone when i have a text message from them or make a payment over the phone and it was the exact same sound like i have heard from Verizon Wireless, and then it asked if I wanted to take a survey about my call today which I had made to them, and gave me the No. 866-298-2014 to call to conduct the survey.    I assume this was legit since I did call Verizon Wireless today about a problem.  As far as I am concerned, it was legit call.

Very Interesting!  I have received this inbound call over the last year or so.  If I answer it they say they are a Verizon survey. But very questionable.  Now the are activating my voice mail.  This imposes charges.  I have spent the last hour with VZ Tech and forwarded all avail info including this website . They are genuinely concerned at first check the no appears to be Verizon, even by their tech, but, something is bad wrong.  They have file a report and assigned an IT Tech to evaluate this and to try to resolve the issue but I was told that its done by a case by case basis and anyone who get this call especially if it goes to Voice Mail they need to report it in order to assist in the elimination of the problem any contact with VZ should be toll free and this does not appear to be.  Verizon is definitely trying to resolve the problem!!

After seeing some people say it was Verizon I decided to call the number back as it had called my cell twice within minutes after me calling them regarding my account. It was an automated survey on customer satisfaction. First question asked me to press 1 or 2 in order to answer. When I pressed 1 nothing happened & then "she" replied she didn't understand my response, please try again. Not sure how many ways I can press 1 so after a couple more tries finally hung up! That was about as successful as my initial customer service call earlier!

The voice mail was from Verizon (phone company), to complete a "Customer Satisfaction Survey" at 866-298-2014. When I called the "866" number, it was an automated Verizon system, but I didn't do the survey. About 30 minutes prior to this call, I did legitimate with Verizon.

I'm writing a reply back to my own post - just got another call; this time they left a message: it IS Verizon doing a follow up Survey ... I believe, however, I should have been notified by the Verizon agent I was dealing with that there would be a phone call for a survey .... they need to be more professional than this IMHO.

I just called Verizon Prepaid to get Auto Pay set up - this phone number called in just after I finished up with Rep. I don't answer calls I'm not familiar with. My concern is that if it's a legitimate Survey, why would Verizon not have advised me that a Survey phone call would be forthcoming???? Hmmmmm ...

Its just a customer service quality control survey to see if your needs were or are met. Im glad Verizon cares

They left a message today and it is Verizon Wireless wanting to know about my experience I had dealing with them. Since I had spoken with customer service to fix a problem with crediting minutes they owed me, this is legit

OMG!  I just moments ago called Verizon Customer Service about a fraud issue and almost immediately this number appeared in my caller ID.  I did not answer but did a reverse look up and found this website.  
Thanks to all those who posted!  This information was very helpful.  But don't expect help from Verizon.  I found both customer service and fraud prevention to be totally useless in my other case.  Am waiting now for the local police to arrive...

Got a call when I activated a new phone on my old account.  I missed the call.  Reading comments here, it appears to be telemarketing.  Somehow hacked into Verizon is the opinion.  I will let Verizon Customer Service know about this.  Another post here said Verizon is investigating.  Actually, I need to register my phone # with the National Do Not Call list.  Maybe that will stop the call.

After my gmail was hacked, the cell # associated with it,(mine) started getting calls from this and other odd numbers and VZW receipts started coming from the usual (no return no.) and from a 900 number dated, down to the same minute. When "confusion desuaders shockers" appeared as the caller's name (something I thought only I could do) it seemed too creepy. When it started synching my contacts and my own security password became invalid, I dropped the service. Try to explain that to your CC co. and maintain a plausible composure %)~  I gave up trying to regain control of my Master google account. This same number just called again and left a voicemail to call 866 298 2014,(supposedly an electronic Verizon Customer Service questionaire, and quite possibly authentic for all I know, but I think I'll pass! I've seen 949 286 3971 listed under TW Telecom, and my internet provider is Time Warner, but enough already. I live in NY City. scam?, call type?, I don't even care anymore, it's just creepy stupid.
