Ever since my 87 year old mother had gone through cardiac rehab several weeks ago I?ve been barraged with calls from numerous states purportedly offering a free medical alert system. I receive a minimum of 4 or 5 calls each day from the following numbers:

I have no doubt that this is a medical alert phishing scam
(see http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/personalf ... -alert/2397189/) and originates from a single source. I don?t know how these people obtained my unlisted cell phone number since the hospital?s disclosure of personal or medical information is a violation of HIPAA confidentiality, subjecting the violator to fines and penalties. Most medical care providers avoid this like the plaque.

My advice is to not answer the call and do not respond to these people in any way. Once they know your phone number is legitimate they will continue calling and may pass your number on to other scammers. It?s a PIA but I would also file a complaint with the FCC and Federal Trade Commission. The more complaints they receive the more likely they will launch an investigation.

Any scum who prey on the elderly are the lowest of bottom feeders and need to be eliminated from society.

Over past 3 days we've received 17 calls (so far).  We add call block to each call and they just call from another number.  At this rate, we'll have no more "Blocked Calls" space left!  And people hated Alexander Graham Bell?  Who the hell invented cell services ???  There is no longer peace, quiet or privacy in this world !!!

They are connected.  Not much can be done about the calls but to block them using the Mr. Number app which also notifies you when a call comes in if it's "Suspected Spam"  I use it everytime I get a new spam number calling me.  I never get calls from the same number twice.

Gave my number to Verizon's guys just before FiOS installation but it was three weeks ago... Not sure it's related since calls started only yesterday... but everything's possible :-(

I have been getting calls all morning from 949-484-8383, 908-469-0995, 786-345-1584 and 920-320-1960, 918-550-5741, 913-725-0453.  I suspect they are "related" since they call in sequence.  There have been at least 6 calls since 9 AM.

I received calls from this number and the following numbers in one day:

I just block them from my iphone but then they just call from another number. WTH? So annoying.

I got four calls just this morning. I answered the first one 913-725-0453 because it was from my state. It had a recorded male voice going CONGRATULATIONS! and something about medical alert. I hung up. After that I got calls from 918-550-5741, 920-320-1960, and 949-484-8683 all within the next 2 hours. I found this message and put every number from this message into my block calls list in my phone, now I have 21 numbers in my auto reject list. As I was typing this message I got another call from 518-842-6000, so now 22 numbers on auto reject.

This is insane! I have not given my cell phone number out to anyone new in a long time. I never give it out to stores that ask or ever if I can help it. I do not give out my number on ebay, in answer to another poster's question. I would hate to have to change my cell phone number because it's such a pain and I've had it for years, but if this continues I will do it. What causes these people to do this??

I have received calls from different states for the past 5 days.  And this is one of them.  I normally don't get more than a couple calls a day (from people I know) but now I'm getting at least 15 because of these automated calls!  STOP CALLING ME!!!

I have gotten calls for the past two weeks from the same numbers. Once I block them they find a faster way to call. There are never any messages.

I am getting them also...all hang up and the same numbers.  I have T-Mobile.

As soon as I block a number, they start calling from a different number.

I have received five calls today from five different area codes

I kept getting calls from this number but even if I answered on the first ring, it would disconnect. I called it back and got a recording that said,"If you want your number removed, press any digit." Obviously, that wasn't working as they kept calling. Once, it did say it was some kind of political survey. So I downloaded a "silent" ringtone and use it as the defaul ringtone. People I know get assigned a different ringtone but those numbers that aren't in my contact list automatically are the default ringtone. iPhone doesn't have the option for no ringtone so that's arhat I thought up and it works. As long as you have the default vibration as "none", you'll never even know you had the annoying call.

It only gets worse when you answer the phone as they know the number is a "live" number and will NOT stop calling.  The Do Not Call List is worthless because they are NOT a legitimate company.

Over 30 calls in 48 hours from 15-20 different numbers but with same recorded message ,same voice of an older guy about a medical alert system.
Does any of you do business on e bay ? Do you believe this is the way they got our phone numbers ?

They have called twice today, robocalls with the "congratulations" line.  I gave up on the do not call registry.  I just enter the number on my contact list as spam.

I've been getting calls from this number & others for some time now. I do not answer and they don't leave a message. I've received 12 calls today and two numbers called twice! I am also on the do not call list. Can anyone stop these calls?

Can someone get their address if they pick up?  I want to sue them for the calls.  Robo calls are illegal!

I am continuing to get calls from this number - I must have had at least a dozen calls just yesterday! Sometimes I do not hear anyone on the line - other times it's a "congratulations" voice recording. I'm sick of calls from this number.  I am going to look into the "donotcall" register to see if this is still around. Telemarketers are suppose to adhere to this database and NOT CALL.  Also blocked the numbers and there are several of the same numbers listed on this thread.

I'm disgusted because it seems that every time my phone rings it is one of the following numbers:  949-484-8683, 954-271-3140, 920-320-1960, 612-567-7978, 617-752-2955, 913-725-0453, 720-420-7129, 855-849-1984, 910-764-6001, 775-800-7054, 734-418-9006 and 720-420-7129.  For the past week I've gotten calls from these numbers over 50 times.  I'm just not going to answer my phone anymore unless I recognize the number that is calling me.
