Gregory Nelson is full of it. they are just looking to collect money for themselves. He threatened to tell the original debt i refused to pay. I'm pretty sure they figured that out 2 yrs when i stopped paying.  Im currently working with my attorney to pursue legal action against.

If your debt is still in the "SOL" (statute of limitations in your state) then yes they can still take legal action against you. This would include, but not limited to, wage garnishment, property liens and in some states bank account levys.
Know your rights and know your laws, but dont disregard a phone call on past debt just becasue you read on line that som agency was a scam.
Some collection agencys have lawyers attched to them just for the specific reason to sue people. Yes it sucks but that is the way it works.

good luck with what you are going through. If you have the ability to pay your debts, then just make sure you get everything in writing.

I'm a resident of the state of Washington. A few years ago, my life fell apart, lost my house to foreclosure, couldn't pay my credit cards, etc. (sad story). I've been unemployed and "off the grid" since. Anyway, someone named "Greg Nelson" from JDI just called my parents in a different state (how did they get their number?) and said there would be a civil action and I will be sued. After Googling up the number and reading the comments, the outfit sounds like a collection agency that gathers up bad debts and then vigorously tries to collect. But can they really sue me? If they sue me in my unaware absence, can they get a judgement and haunt me the rest of my life? Or is this just a canny collection agency that is trying to wrangle whatever money they can get out of challenged people? Let me know. It was disturbing, I'm sort of worried. Thanks in advance.

If they are calling you claiming to be a law firm to collect a debt, that goes against FDCPA Section 807 and they can be sued. My ex husband is dealing with this right now and he claims that they said they are an attorney firm and if he does not pay this debt that he supposedly owes, he will be summoned to court. AGAIN that goes against FDCPA Section 807. I told him to ask for a letter of agreed settlement to be sent out to him, then if he does agree to pay this he is to ask for a letter of debt release.
Know your rights!

Please, before you start assuming, please call him and find out what is really going on.
What makes you assume that he is a scammer???

Posting false information on a blog should be confirmed before doing so.

Idle threats are threats that are not followed up on.
If you feel that these people are not who they say they are, then do what you you think you should
You can always call the Original Creditor and follow the "Chain of Title" and if they are not the company handling your debt than move on.
But giving bad advice to people is not the way to go.
By the way did you just get papers served? Or just get your wages garnished by them?
I did, because I took internet advice from some sight like this and did not take advantage of the settlement offer that they had provided me.
You are liable for non paid debts, You can be sued for what you owe and interest. you can get your wages garnished or even a property lien.
Stop giving people bad information. You should know what you are talking about before you post it on these sites

Debt Collector
See, the thing is, there are sooo many fake debt collectors out there trying to scam folks out of their money so it's hard to tell who the real ones are. One thing that most of the fake ones do is to tell you that they are going to serve you papers at your place of employment or at your residence if you do not contact them that day and then they keep  calling everyday with the same or similar threats. That is what the guy calling me from this number attempted to do on several of the calls to me so WHY would I even entertain the argument that they are a real collector when they are violating the Fair Credit Collection Act by making idle threats? Please explain that.

You would be surprised how many stupid idiots are out there, theat just want to write bad stuff about collectors.
It is usually only the people that want to get handouts and never pay back the people they owe.
Get a life and pay your bill, or just keep your crap off the internet.

JDI Group can give you references of the people they have helped and settled with. Can you give references of the people they have not.

People who post these bad comments are not helping the people that need the help.
Its hard enough these day trying to find who owns one of my bad debts, but when someone contacts me finally about it i get people writing bad stuff about the agency collecting.
Unless you are sure that these people are bad or do not have the authoriztion to collect on my debt or others, then just shut up and go on being a deadbeat

Not scammers, Gregory gave me all the information needed to verify who he was and the debt I owed.
I payed them a settlement offer after receiving a settlment letter from them. Since then my credit has been updated (As promised by Gregory) and I saved a bunch of money.
Dont put these people off if they call you, they are real and they will help you if you want it.
The only people they cant help are the people who call them scammers and the people who cant make arrangements for settlements. Anybody that says anything differently is not telling the truth or just trying to dodge their debts

The firm is a legitimate firm that will give you all the information needed to confirm that you have an unpaid debt. They will also send you everything in writing
Gregory was very helpful in not only clearing up that debt but also helped me to clean up all of my debts.
I thought I had to hire an attorney or debt solution company to do this, but he was so helpful.
Thank you Gregory for the fantastic help and the significant offer for settlement. I would recommend to anyone to work with him, if you get a call from him regarding a past debt.

Also, if anyone wants to pull a free credit report go to annualcreditreport.com and it is all free.
