They called me yesterday and threatened the same. They wanted me to pay $1800 with a credit card, for a debt from 2004/2005. They were looking at my credit report and telling me which credit card I could put them on. I asked them to mail me a statement and I could possibly pay them in payments with a money order. She refused and said it had to be paid immediately WITH a credit card or they were going to submit my paperwork for the 1099c and court. When I asked why a credit card, she never really gave me a straight answer. She never gave me her first name when I asked, but gave me 2 different last names. First it was Ms. Martinez, then at the end of the call, it was Ms. Garcia. Then she caught it and said,"Uh, Garcia-Martinez." Sounds like a scam to me. I have hired a credit specialist to help me deal with them. The number they gave me is 888-584-4930, I called this number and the 855-693-7726, they both say the same thing.

Looks like you're being harassed by scammers.  Perhaps your phone service provider can block their calls - however, they may start to call from other numbers.  Unless you can get a company name and physical address (so you can send a cease and desist communication letter - templates here - www.creditinfocenter.com)  there's not much else you can do.

Please do report the caller to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Next time they call, do let them know that all their calls are being recorded and that the FBI has been notified too.  Sometimes that gets them to stop calling, sometimes it doesn't.  So sorry you're going through this.

Someone keeps calling from this number for, I believe, my adult son (although they're way off on the pronunciation of a very easy last name) and threatening to move forward with legal action if he doesn't contact them right away.  First of all, he  hasn't lived with us for ten years and lives in a different state.  They are calling non-stop at all hours of the day and night harassing us to the point we are about to change our number!  Maybe it will take a lot of complaints to the Federal Trade Commission to get this harassment stopped!

THis happened to me today.  I missed a call from an unknown number.  Listened to the VM... could barely understand the message... but something about legal support and they have a summons of complaint...  Something needs to be filed tomorrow... And a call back # of 855-693-7726.  Very confusing.  Hopefully it is nothing...

Yes, I just got a call from them for a collection of a credit card debt I do not believe I opened (think my dead ex-husband opened one in my name), and these people tell me I have been served but I was never served and that they will see me for my court hearing but I have no paperwork regarding a Notice of Hearing.  That I was a legal assistant for 12 years makes me leery.  Why have I not received a legal summons or copy thereof; and, why I have I not received any notice of a court appearance required for the settlement of this supposed future judgment or lien against me and/or my property?  They took $100 from me under Lawrence and Associates - this is what shows on the authorization to take a first payment based on a call with them that they "seemed" to be recording, but a lawyer will tell you if he is recording you, so I am still leery.  Any others talking to these people?

Debt Collector
I received the SAME calls on the SAME days!
I got a call from an unknown on my mobile claiming to be a process server, who gave me an 855-693-7726 line for the Rosenberg & Associates. The line went to a call center where they immediately placed me on hold and a lady came on being abrupt that they were serving me with court papers and taking me to court for a debt that is 13 years old.
I requested more information, she repeated info off my credit report. I asked why I hadn't received any other notifications, she said there had been 3 letters but not the timeframe. She said they'd put a lien on my home, my car, freeze our bank accounts and my husband would be affected and our credit would suffer. She said the judge would award them all of the balance, and that a 1099 was being issued for the debt to be claimed as earnings that I'd have to pay taxes on.
I almost paid them the "one time offer of a settlement" that had to be done right then and there. - The next day, she called me at work, spoke to a co-worker without identification and instructed that someone from the Sherriff's Dept was coming to serve me and would it cause a disruption. And that they would wait a few days for me to return the call.
I got an attorney involved, but they can't do anything without a valid address. If I get a call again, I'm getting that info!

This is a scam company, called them back they said they would garnish my wages, yet when  I mentioned my attorney they hung up.I also checked my credit report and nothing was listed there. If you have your phone registered with the do not call list, report them, they also called a my job!! Always check out a company that claims you owe a debt,if they are real, they will have to inform you that they are a debt collector,or in that business

Debt Collector
This number called me today trying to collect on an old debt of mine. The debt was never paid by me, so it exists. However, I don't really have any way to prove that this is in fact a legit collector. If they can do what they were saying regarding wage garnishment and the like and it's legit, then sure, I'll get it settled. But as of now there's just no way for me to verify this isn't a scam.

The name of the company is Rosenberg and associates out of california. That's all I've got at the moment. Anyone else deal with these folks?
