This number called my cell-phone (in PA).  We have no debt issues, but my spouse's previous spouse had debt that was consolidated last summer ---in PA.

A man called for my husband and left a message to call him back "needing help with a situation".  It sounded fishy to me, so I looked it up online and found a couple of posts about this number and this guy not being legit.  Wanted to report that he called us.  We did not call the number back.

his new number that he is using is 952-215-3693..I am 99.9 % sure i paid the debt he is calling to collect for...and even then i was willing to make payment  arrangments with him..but he would not accepct he said he needed full payment today by check...yeah right like i am going to give him my cheacking account info.

Two Buffalo debt collectors could face decades in prison for a fraudulent debt collection scheme, U. S. Attorney Kathleen M. Mehltretter said Friday.

Timothy E. Arent, 37, and Neil G. Wieczkowski, 41, were charged Friday with mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud. Arent also is charged with bankruptcy fraud.

Over the last four years, the two obtained money from their victims under false pretenses, personation and representations, Assistant U. S. Attorney MaryEllen Kresse said.

Arent and Wieczkowski also are accused of trying to dodge the law by changing the names of their businesses as many as 18 times. They reaped more than $8 million, authorities said. Arent also is accused of withholding information from the bankruptcy court in 2005, failing to disclose the purchase of a Buffalo home worth $500,000 before he declared bankruptcy.

What makes you think he takes calls?

You are very naiive and are over-simplifying what is an important legal issue.  Collections agencies such as this one in question operate under the radar with "operate" being the focus here.  They are bound by Federal Law to comply with US Code within the Fair Credit Practice Act and they simply do not. Once they have engaged in their methods of threatening, intimidating, harrassing phone calls, rudeness, misrepresentation that they are lawyers, etc., then the issue is no longer collection of a debt.  Most people who want to pay their debts find themselves becoming the victims of these unscrupulous people.  Where is it written in the laws of this country that if you owe money to someone that they have the right to break the law - it's not.  I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I HAVE A STELLAR CREDIT SCORE AND I HAVE BEEN HARRASSED BY THESE PEOPLE. I am not even the person they are looking for.  Do they care about this minor detail - would I be writing this if they were?

Our house just got a call today from this "Steve Jamison" person. Possibly a fraud.

CALLED LOOKING FOR MY HUSBANDS EX-WIFE.  BY THE WAY,SHE NEVER LIVED IN THIS HOUSE, AT THIS MY PHONE NUMBER.  ALSO, SHE LEFT MY HUSBAND IN 1996.

Another deadbeat heard from. Pay your bill for Christ sake.

I received a call from "Steve Jamison" as well. I have flawless credit and am wondering what this guy is calling about.

I received multiple calls today from a very rude fellow by the name of Steve Jamison as well...also representing himself as "the state attorney's office." Got the bright idea of looking him up online, and nothing came up to verify that status...but this did! I'm going to call the state attorney's office tomorrow as well and see what they think of this.

What is the "Belser Attorney's Office," after all?

I do owe money on a Washington Mutual credit card, and was willing to work out a payment plan...but this a***ole wanted full payment immediately. Which was his downfall.

Too bad he THINKS he has my real current address. As if I would actually give that out.

LAST, WE WENT TO WHITEPAGES.COM AND FOUND THE NUMBER WAS UNPUBLISHED/UNAVAILABLE.  THE PROVIDER OF THE PHONE SERVICE IS OVATION COMMUNICATIONS LOCATED IN TWIN CITIES, MN
