Got a junk fax from "Your New York Group" about a multi-billion dollar company that wants to open up negotiations to buy all or part of our company, which is odd. I know of nobody who would contact a third party to buy someone else's company.

These people should be thrown in jail.

We get these faxes all the time.  Always a different phone number/state of origin, always the same pitch about having potential buyers.  If this scam operates like most, it's from overseas and reporting them does little.  Contacting the FTC, Florida AG, etc. may launch an investigation, but they'll come up with nothing traceable in the US.  What reporting them might do is get them shut down temporarily under this phone number and phony business name.  Because these scammers have so many interchangeable phony business names and numbers, they'll just change it an hour later and continue sending faxes because they know they can continue to get money from duped US citizens.   Good luck with the $10,000 FTC fine (not payable to the consumer) or a suit under the TCPA.  You'll never find these people.  The best thing we can do as consumers, when we receive unnecessary junk faxes, is to never take them seriously.

Apparently they have a new vice president named Ron Davis.  Apparently they have 3 potential buyers for our business!

I received the same fraudulent fax on fake New York Private Equity stationery.  Same pitch about having two potential buyers for my company.  Just out of curiosity, I've called twice and someone actually answered the 3000 number each time.  However, when asking for William Brewster, he happened to be 'conveniently' out of the office 'both times' but he'd be returning my call.  Right. That never happened.  What a scam and waste of time.  

Also received the fax dated 2/28/14....figured it was a scam...didn't call them....just had a minute today to look into it and found this page!

Has all my contact info, says he has 2 interested buyers which begs the question why they wouldn't just call doesn't it?

Received the same merged fax yesterday.  Looked like a scam of some kind and the details are all the same - William Brewster - New York Private Equity, 2 buyers in Miami and Ohio. 946-616-3000.

Chucked it in the trash.

Same here, 2 buyers, New York equity with no offices in NY????Wm. Brewster did come over on the Mayflower....man, that family went to hell bein' puritan at one time, chuckl.

We recvd the fax today and I found the same info, none, when I did the search. Thanks for putting up these posts as it saved me time in calling.

You could tell this was a joke, but had to call. Not sure what they are up to and can not wait to get a hold of this guys home phone number. Might be a lead generating company for equity companies looking for prospects. This is a waste of my time...back to work.

This is the message from a fax we received from 954-582-5090:

"There are two potential buyers who are interested in opening up negotiations to explore purchasing all or part of COMPANY NAME. One is located in Ohio and one is located in Miami, and of course you are in STATE. Please call me at 954-616-3000. I will give you both buyers' name and a very good idea of the purchase price they might have in mind to purchase all or a substantial portion of COMPANY NAME, MY NAME. Kindest Regards, William Brewster, Vice President"

The message along the top reads: "New York Private Equity - Chicago. Atlanta. Denver. New Mexico. Palm Beach."
The address at the bottom of the fax reads: 1200 Brickell Avenue Miami #1950, Florida 31331


We get these types of messages often. Is there a way to stop them? We get maybe 3 faxes a month, total, all three from these supposed investors. What's the point of a fax machine?

Where was this guy two years ago when I shut my business down!  What a deal he missed out on.  Anyway, he's still out there.  LoL RoF a lot!

Just got the same fax a few minutes ago...shucks...my dreams of selling my business and retiring before the end of the year have been dashed!  Oh well, back to the grind.

Darn. I was just to put down a deposit on a new Bentley for my wife. Oh well, I guess Mr. Brewster will have to find two other buyers for my business.

Got the same message.  The whole fax made me laugh as I read through.  Wonder if "William Brewster" informed these 2 potential buyers -one from OH, the other from Miami (why not name a city in OH, or just say FL?)- that the entity they're interested in buying is actually part of a body of government?  :)

Received the same faxt today.  Sounds like a scam, throwing it in the garbage.

School principal received a FAX interested in buying a public school building.

I received a fax from "New York Private Equity", indicating they have a "buyer" for our company, requesting a phone call to 954.616.3000. When called, a taped message speaks about an "all day staff meeting" requesting to leave contact info and to expect a call back.  However, the vm box is full.  This message has been there for several days and is obviously a strong indication that this fax may be part of a scam. There is no web presence for a company called "New York Private Equity" and since it is such a generic name it probably is not a registered entity.

Received the same fax today stating there were 2 potential buyers for our business. from a WIlliam Brewster at New York Private Equity  Google search turned up no such business

I received the same letter by mail...
with their zip code wrong for miami 31331 and my zip code being only 4 numbrs long
but still 2 companies wanting to buy me out

Rec'd the same fax today.  I'm sure either buyer, one in OH, the other in FL, would be highly interested in a 2 person real estate office.

Received same fax about two buyers for my company.  Searched phone number and company name, plus the name of the undersigned William Brewster.  Figured it was a scam and searched and found this site plus others and nothing about the company.

Keep on sending these letters, I am stacking them for the FTC. $10,000 fine per letter.
