just called me again.  no voicemail message left.  I called it back from another number and got the same operator message saying it is not a working number.

I think its Certegy check services. They call me too and hang up when I answer. I called the number back and they said it was a collector in Florida looking for someone that used to use my phone number.

This number called me this morning.  I called it back from a different phone and got an operator message that the number is not a working number...hmmm...

Who is it?

Claims to be debt collector from payday loan that I did NOT have.  Threatening messages asking for attorney info. and saying "God Bless You and Good Luck".  Speak VERY broken english.  Gives Amercian/English name with STRONG middle-eastern accent.  ie: Officer Mark Reneiecen, Aaron Thompson, John Adams.  Threatening jail time, court fees.  Sometimes claims to be from "All American Financial" or "Federal Dept. of Justice."  Claims to "downlaod" a subpeona..arrest warrant...law suit..going to arrest me at work...meet me at courthouse.  HILARIOUS considering i actually work for the state level Justice Cabinet! Sometimes claims to be representing CashNetUSA or CashUSA.Net. Call cell, place of business..and anyone you may have listed as a reference on an online payday loan....from years ago! Gave him the # to may attorney....the Better Business Bureau....became irate.

wanted to pass on some info  unless you get an address or real company names there is not much anyone can help out with

I can say the only thing I tried to do was apply for a payday loan

I have gotten at least 100 phone calls (or so it seems....) from almost everyone one of these numbers..... I've got one more to add to this list

They call w/a thick heavy indian accent and tell you they are w/some law firm out in Cali. and basically try to scare you into thinking they have information on you when all they really have is a name and a phone number (basically) If you percieve they have more an ex-cop told me to go file a report @ my local precinct and tell them I could possibly be a victim of ID theft, you tell them that and get that report filled out then if anything happens and you actually get taken to court for anything you have proof it's probably ID theft, otherwise it could take up to 2 yrs. to get everything straightened out....... They told me that I was being sued because I didn't pay my $300 payday loan...... WTF it would cost them way more to go after me in court or have charges brought up against me to begin w/. (If it were true). Then cuz I didn't fall for that they said they would call my work and make accusations against my character and I would lose my job and go to jail for 1 yr. over it....... I was like then where do I work? (cuz I own my own business as well as hold down another job so I always put down my own phone number if anyone needs a work phone number.....) This guy was like just you wait and see you will find out what will happen tomorrow...... He just kept saying that over and over.... I wanted to say what are you, a dadgum parrot???? I finally hungup on him because I didn't want to listen to his bs anymore.......

I have been receiving calls from 954-849-4843 on my cell phone.  Since I didn't recognize the number I didn't answer and they don't leave a message.  Today I answered the call.  The person said he was from a lending company, but that was it.  I said "Who is this" and he said I am calling you, who are you.  He spoke with a heavy accent.  I told him not to call this number again or I would report him.  When I got off the phone I called my cell phone company and had them block this number.  Problem handled.  Just never give out any kind of information to these types of calls.

Well they called & didn't leave a message.

Received call on my CELL PHONE. All I could understand from the strong foreign accent was "lending".. Told him to remove my number and all my info from their calling list. Our numbers are on Govt. "Do Not Call".

Missed call on my cell phone, however I have never made a payday loan.

This helped alot. They have been calling and telling me I owe for a loan and they are going to take me to court. I turned them in to the police, the BBB, and the Federal Trade Act. They still keep calling me.

I tried calling back as well and got the same recording.  When they called my cell, I asked who was calling and they said  something cash/loan or whatever and at that point I asked them how they got my number, (no reply), why they are calling my cell phone, (no reply) and take my number off your call list. (no reply) after a short pause I asked if they heard me and I repeated take me off your call list. No reply again so I hang up.  They called back, I answered and they said nothing so I hung up.  After that they continued to call my cell 12 more times in a row.

Upon calling the FTC I have found that these people have hacked the data base of a the payday loan centers from outside the country and are routing numbers to call people (not nessecarily the case for every number some of these idiots are actually located in the U.S.)

Got a call from this number several times and everytime I answer it just beeps then says "goodbye" this is so weird I already am dealing with identity theft and these people prolly have something to do with it but I can't prove anything in that area just don't trust this number

Phone terrorists, called me. They told me I owed 1000, for a payday loan I never recieved. They said im going to jail. I said lets go. This wont be my first rodeo son. He yelled at me, that I will go to prision for 10 years. I said, Is that all. I did more than that last time I went. He hung up... Will they ever learn, that when they call me, I will f---- with them...

I have reached the point when a person with an East Indian accent calls, I ask their name, supervisors name and for a phone number.  They usually hang up and leave me alone.

I received a call from them telling me they were some type of loan company and I was approved for $1500.00. I told them I was not interested and they hung up. It is the same person who keeps calling me and telling me that I owe them money for a payday loan (which I don't have). So yes they are scammers.

Thes people have contacted me as well.. they are so mean with an acccent.. they threatened to take my kids from me for not paying something that i have never even heard of or done befor. its scary that there is people out there doing this to people

I too am getting calls from this number. On my caller ID it says cell phone FL. They do not leave a message as I do not pick up calls that I do not recognize.

I wasn't at my desk, otherwise I use a toy whistle and blow in the phone when I get these people.  They usually hang up and don't call back.

Some XXX Lending Group (couldn't distinguish the first word).  The guy sounds as fruity as a 3 dollar bill.  I asked why my name was on my list and he continued babbling about a cash advance.  When I told him that he isn't answering my question, he hung up.

I have been getting these calls for months now. Just got 4 today 2 from the same number and  form all types of different numbers. Maybe collective if we contact the link below we can get some help? I have been harassed and left threathening messages etc in regards to bills I don't owe like a payday advance. I have several of the numbers they have used. I would think that the FBI or someone should be looking into this as big as this appears to be.

These people never stop.  They will call from various numbers, and will never cease to attempt to rob you unless you change every phone number they have gained access to (including your work number, which is usually impossible, unless you own your own business).  I have reported them to every legal and consumer channel in existence, as have many other victims.  The scam artist here in the U.S. that came up with this diabolical form of theivery has taken advantage of a legal loophole.   Basically, the MANY numbers they use are those with CA area codes, but the call centers are outsourced outside the U.S.  Somehow, they are able to disconnect numbers on a daily basis (or, at least have recordings that mimic a "no longer in service" message), and they rotate between dozens of numbers on a weekly basis.  They use the "wear the mark down" method; ie., they persistently call hundreds of people as long and as frequently as they can, using threatening terms-claiming to be lawyers, police officers, and my personal favorite is their attempt to evoke fear by such statements as: "May God have mercy on your soul" (ya can't make up a gem like this:)  I have tried to annoy them in return by calling back repeatedly and yelling, having a philosophical conversation regarding their lack of a conscience, or just asking them nonsense questions, etc., and sometimes they turn the number off for the rest of the day, and even quit calling for a day or three...
They have been calling me for almost one year now.  Seriously.
Some of them are more feisty and creative than others.  One of them actually attempted to explain that it was okay for them to call victims and try to steal from and harrass us because our United States Constitution gives them that right.  Most of their religious and U.S. law arguments are convoluted, and extremely bizzarre.  I can find the humor in it because I a.) don't fall for their scheme, and b.) Have an employer that isn't going to fire me because of them.  The not so funny part; they are relentless, and some people are bullied into giving them personal account info, or are reprimanded, even fired by employers that are not so understanding (they will and have said anything and everything to employers regarding the employee-from accusing employees of unlawful behavior, incurring warrents, etc., to strange attacks on an employees personal life and behavior).
It's unfortunate that these people are able to get away with harrassment and theft, and that their seems to be no way to force them to discontinue.  All we can do as victims is continue to report them to all legal and consumer authorities and warn everyone we possibly can.
Most importantly, however, we must avoid, and warn others to avoid getting into such a situation in the first place.  Like it or not, if these people are victimizing you, they got your information somehow.  I too, living paycheck to paycheck, have been desperate enough to fill out payday loan  application online.  Many of these sites are safe and secure, but some allow others to phish for your personal information.  It's NOT WORTH IT!  Do not give account numbers, ss#, etc., to ANYONE over the internet or telephone.  Period.  Deal with this sensitive information FACE TO FACE WITH A LEGITIMATE BANKING INSTITUTION ONLY!!!!  These folks have found the legal loophole to make your life hell, and like it or not, NO ONE IN AUTHORITY TO PROTECT YOUR LEGAL AND CONSUMER RIGHTS HAS MUCH SYMPATHY FOR YOU, SINCE YOU INVARIABLY GAVE AWAY THIS INFORMATION IN A PUBLIC FORUM VIA THE INTERNET!  I admit I did, and, the outcome sucks royally.
