This company is testing toll free numbers for connectivity so they can sell connect proof lists to politicians and the like.  In other words, a politician can buy a Call Campaign that guarantees 30,000 connects.

This info was discovered through collaborative PI investigations.  This is crap and these guys need to be stopped.

I have many 800 numbers for my business and I noticed that this "concerned citizen" calls every one of my numbers multiple times.  I figured a way to screw them up.  Simply call them back until the number connects.  When you hear their auto dialer making outbound calls just put your phone down.  I usually keep my phone (which is a flat rate long distance included) connected to them for a few hours at a time.  I figure that they are not collecting any valid information during that time.  I figure that their dialer is calling hundreds of numbers and not collecting any info.  If we all did this they would be screwed....

I am getting the same thing from a concerned citizen multiple calls every day and aleways a hang up. now I am getting calls after 10pm

It just said "Private" on my display but have Vonage so it could be a little different like that sometimes.  I guess we're all the lucky ones now ending up on a list of "lines people answer"

I reported this block of numbers (956-541) to both AT&T and Southwestern Bell as my company has received roughly 400 calls from them so far this month.  They have been notified to investigate the source of the nuisance calls and stop them, or an FCC complaint with be filed.  Just thought everyone would like to know.

call came from a 316 area code. identified as "a concerned citizen" on caller id. i did not return the call. when i answered there was no one there and it hung up.

Happened to us also. When I called the number back I got what sounded like an automatic dialer. These calls are a giant pain in the rear.  How do you stop them?

call came in and hung up. Phone system identified it as "A Concerned Cit" from Harlingen TX.
When I called back call would not go through. No phone listing for the number above. There was a listing for A Concerned Citizen (956)421-2848 which my call also was not  pickedup. and there are these other numbers listed.
