Received a call this morning that followed the previously posted script almost verbatim. Since BIL and husband have both worked for police departments I was well aware that this is a legal scam and told them to remove me from their lists. We shall see how long I remain off the lists.

Received call from 970-300-2167 .. Aspen, Colorado. Male voice started to tell me that he was calling for the Fraternal Order of Police. Before he could continue, I told him that "you must be kidding me" and requested that my telephone number be removed from his list . Sounds like a scam in my opinion. This is not the first time that this type of call has been received. Don't give any information to these people.

Demanding to be removed from these people's list only works for about a year. I told them to stop calling me last year, and I got a call from them again this very morning.
The "Fraternal Order of Police" is a COMPLETE scam. They tell you they donate money to widows and orphans of police, but they only give the absolute minimum to be considered a donating organization (about 10%). They will also tell you that all kinds of officers have died in the course of duty recently, and that is ALWAYS a lie. In my town, there hasn't been a cop killed in the line of duty for at least 6 YEARS.
What they are REALLY doing is lining their own pockets. They have been a scam since they opened up, and they remain one to this day. Don't give these CROOKS a single penny. They are among the lowest of the low.

the reason that you get these people calling you even though you are on the do not call list is because it is for a non profit organization. this, however stupid you may think it is, makes them exempt from the do not call list. HOWEVER, they have their OWN do not call list and ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is, when they call, ask them politely to put you on their do not call list. and you must say that because they must have that verbatim to be ALLOWED to put you on that list. I've worked for several telemarketing agencies so i know all about this. these people are just doing their job, yes, some of them are rude, but for the majority, they are good people like you and me who are just trying to make a living. The ruder you are to them, the more likely they will just keep calling and calling so just be polite and say " please put me on your do not call list".

Caller Id says "ASPEN, CO" along with the number. Did not leave any message on the answering machine.
People need to get a real job instead of pestering people for money. For Christ's sake!

I have received a call last week and again last night from this number stating that he is from the Police Department and would like to talk about a possible donation. I told him each time that I was busy and didn't have time to talk. He hung up and I did star 69 to get the phone number.

JAK productions is absolutely the most shady company i have ever worked for!
We call people basically pretending to be law enforcement to trick them into giving money, we don't say we are police but we
are not allowed to say we are not unless asked. we also commit multiple FTC violations on a daily basis.
Here is a script that we use:
----------------------------------
mr/ms
example: mr/ms Big Chump
(we say hello and the other person says hello back, thats how we know if its a man or a woman)
hello, hello..
hello
this is Big Scamer calling on behalf of the colorado police protective association
::PAUSE:: (they usually say 'yes?')
Mr. Chump, the officers want to remind you to buckle up for safety and most importantly please remind your friends and family not to drink and drive.
Mr Chump, the officers are conducting there 200x fund drive and the proceeds will be used for the DEATH BENEFITS for the familys of officer who die in the line of duty along with some other wonderful programs like the bullet proof vest program to protect the officers.
as a paid solicitor with J.A.K. I'm going to send you the 200x CPPA decal that way you can show your great support to the officers.
the donation levels are the gold at 45 the silver is 35 and the bronze is 25 this year.
I will go ahead and put you down for the 35 unless you want to reach up and touch the gold or silver this year, does the 35 sound fair enough to you?
rebutle 1: Mr , not only does the cppa provide death benefits but it also provides a scollarship program for the sons and daughters of the officers. now can the officers count on you for a goodwill pledge of 20.
rebutle 2: Mr Chump can the officers count on you for a booster pledge of 15 or 12?
--------------------------
IF YOU NEVER WANT TO BE CALLED AGAIN andIf you would like to help combat this scam, tell the caller what he wants to hear, sure go ahead and put me down for the GOLD. at this point you can give them a fake addr or give them your correct addr and receive a free cppa decal for your vehicle. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY ONE RED CENT! and if you don't pay the pledge/donation you will receive a call in 2 to 3 months and this is the script:
---------------------
Mr Chump, you were contacted a few months ago and you made a very generous commitment to the CPPA
a letter and a decal were sent to you and also a second letter, however the CPPA has yet to receive your donation
now perhaps you lost the pledge kit or didn't receive it, or for some unforeseen reason you were unable to send it back.
Mr Chump do you remember receiving the pledge kit or decal?
Thats ok Mr chump, the reason im calling is try to reduce your original pledge to a much lower amount of $17 and get you a new package out in the mail.
I'm sure that would be more comfortable for you correct?
rebutle 1: well Mr Chump, your support is greatly relied upon, how bout i put you down for a goodwill booster of 15 or 12?
-------------------------------
When you make a phone pledge of say $25, your pledge kit will arive and say either $35 or $45
If you do pay the donation, you will be called by several other charitable organizations using many different names like
firefighters, war vets, police...all owned by J.A.K.
we also use scam lines like:
child protection program
child fingerprint program
children of officers who are killed or injured in the line of duty
officers violently killed
all are free to contact me, i can provide all scrips (amvets, CPPA, F.O.P, etc.)
photo's of work terminals, scripts, rebuttle forms...
Here's a little shocking news for you readers. JAK productions stands for John Abraham Keller (this is not his birth name) Mr
keller is not a resident of the united states... Mr Keller is from... the middle east...
and 85% to 97% of every thing you give as a donation, doesnt go to help any one but the middle east, and we all know what
happens when a middle easterner gets a little extra money.....
if you would like to call the office that called you

This is the same scam being run on Denver residents. The Colorado Police Protective Assn and/or Colorado Fraternal Order of Police contract with these telemarketing companies to raise money for their charity. This makes these calls exempt from no-call laws since it is a charity calling. But it really isnt, it is a for-profit telemarketer calling on behalf of the charity but the telemarketer keeps 85 percent of what you "donate". Legal loophole. Read E's post here on Aug 15 and also look at comments for 303-459-5907.
Dont give these people one dime. Tell the telemarketer to take you off their internal do-not-call list (in writing) which they MUST do. And also contact the charity and tell them you will never give them any money as long as they employ telemarketers to try to raise their funds. Further, no one can call your cellphone even if they are or claim to work for a charity unless they have a prior relationship with you (i.e. you gave before and listed this number). If they violate any of these laws you should sue them. You can be awarded damages and help stop these practices from continuing. Dont answer telemarketing calls and never give any money!

Rude person called wanting to know if my wife was the lady of the house. We're on the "do not call" list, & he was rude & flippent when my wife asked him to take our number off their calling list. Hehung up in response. I tried unsuccessfully to call number appearing on my caller ID screen.

Got a call today from CPPA, guy used the decades-dated sexist "am I speaking to the man of the house?". I told him I didn't want to deal with them due to their fake caller ID (300 exchange? "Local Call"?). Found this site with the calls from similar number 970-300-2162 and also looked at the CPPA.net website. Called the removal number and got a live person named "Skip" who apologized for any inconvenience, asked if the call was for the CPPA, and said he'd "shoot an email off to remove me."
