Received the same call as above.
I believe this to be completely bogus!
Received a text message from an unknown number stating that my CARD has been DEACTIVATED and to please contact them tor REACTIVATE my CARD.
Erica 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
I too got the message....Just like everyone else...LOL The number the text came from is "1234" on my Phone. It has a local Banks name and says this ...
CES Credit Union Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 866-404-4037 to REACTIVATE your CARD.
So I call that number but it says that the number i had reached was not in service and to try again I100 ( must be an error code #)
I tried texting the 1234 number back that sent me the text message and this is the error code I got back From :9230 ( Which I think is Sprint)
The recipien you are sending to has chosen not receive messages. Msg 2111.
So the bastards can eat up our text messages but you cant message them back? LOL Hmmmm...Sounds fishy to me? I am going to call sprint and see what they say...I will post what I find out.

I got the same text on a Sprint phone I'm going to call and report it to Sprint so we can stop this guy.
Danny 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
Sprint is my carrier, 970 number...
I called it back to F^@# with them, but it rerouted the call back to my number, so all I got was echoes of myself...they are hopefully onto these people and have deactivated their number, but certainly DO NOT give any information other than completely made up like 1234-5678-9000-1234...pin number 78-00-1----4--233 HA HA HA!

I also received this text message and I have sprint service on my cell phone number starting 970 as well. I did not return the call because I do not live in the 970 area anymore. I don't have any accounts in summit county either. Thank you for all the postings!

This is absolutely a scam. DO NOT give any personal information to this number! If you have already done so, please call your finaancial institution to have them put a hold on your debit/credit card and have them issue you a new card right away.

I'm another recipient in Loveland with sprint
Brian 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
I got this text today and yes I have sprint and have a 970 number. I agree the sob needs to be caught.

Do not call that number back, it is someone from Hot Sulphur Springs and it's a scam. They ask for your credit card information, then steal it. I just got the text too and there is a whole bunch of info on this number on the internet.
Weird text 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
I too have contacted the Hot Sulpher Springs Police and reported it.
kris 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
me too - I have sprint and just got the text
Weird text 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
Our phone numbers all start with a 970 phone number.
Weird text 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
Do any of you have Sprint as your cell phone service? I am the orginal poster and the text was sent to all three of my kids. We all have Sprint as a service provider.
Gary 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
Follow up - I just called the police department in Hot Sulphur Springs and they had received a report about this already. I would expect the scammer will be getting a knock on the door sometime. I hope they are at home to greet the police officer.

I got the same text. It is from an unpublished numer on Byers Street (between Hemlock and Main) in Hot Sulphur Springs, Colorado. This is definitely bogus.
Bob 2011-06-06 21:08:19 Unknown
My phone and my wife's just got the same thing. All are hitting 970 area code phones. We do not know what it is either.

Received a text message from an unknown number stating that my CARD has been DEACTIVATED and to please contact them tor REACTIVATE my CARD.
When called, the automated system asks for my 16 digit card number and no other options or press 2 to change your pin number.

I received the same message yesterday around 3pm mst.
1) I am not subscribed to receive texts from my banks.
2) Being from an unknown number, seems to me that it's a scam.
3) My bank would contact me directly if there was anything wrong with my accounts, that's a part of the fraud protection that they have.
So ignore it, delete it, if you are concerned, contact your bank directly, not at the number that was listed in the text.
