My cell phone call was just like the one indicated by BC on Dec 4, 2008 they too called me before and now called again.  But I googled this number what they left was 202-821-4767 and actually this is a lan line which is an actual place they are calling from not a cell phone or anyhing.  I even went to the next level and caled the police station in that area they said there is nothing they can do and that it was not a PHYSICAL THREAT.  I agree that these scammers need to be stopped because some people do get victimized by this.  On my voice mail his name was John McClain. (below) Indian accent but American name (weird)

Called from 971-005-5934 at 9:20 this morning on my work phone.  Indian man
left voicemail stating he was Officer Sean Peterson from the Financial Crimes Investigation and that there was a legal case with my social security number on it. He said to call back 213-799-0972 immediately and if I don't "Good luck and have a nice day".  I am so tired of these scammers.  They last called on September 30 from a different number and now they are back.  I refuse to pick up the phone when I see these idiots calling because one time I made that mistake and they we very threatening and after I told them I owed them nothing, the idiot called back every minute for 20 minutes.  I have no outstanding loans whatsoever. These people need to be stopped.

This number called me last year and it really had me scared.  I went as far as getting the money together in order to pay this so called debt that i had.  They had my ss#, banking information and address.  I looked up this phone number before i sent the money saw that this was a scam so i called the police and they said no one could have you arrested for owing money.  They have started to call again a few months ago everyday about 5 times a day.  Now i just answer without saying a word and hang up on them and now i only get one call every few weeks.  You would think that they would stop calling if they havent got any money or no one has been arrested.

this guy has many names  chris,  john,  micheal  mmmmm   big scammer  i reported them to the authorities   attor  general  police,  i have a unlisted number just got it,   do not have any outstanding loans, i asked them   what debt do i OWE?    cash recovery?    i have never taken out a loan  or   cash loan  EVER!!!   I told him to stop calling!!   this is a cell phone and you are breaking the law  by calling a cell phone.   he just got angry and put me on hold and then hung up    wimp

Hey ,melissa your one of them that is calling huh?   you are full of it  these guys are fake fake.    they leave a phone number and i call it back and  no one ever answers just an answering machine,  if it is an attorneys office  they would have a recip person answering the phones.  never give them anything  ss# or name.   tell them it is a cell phone and they need to stop calling or you will report them to the attor general.

hey guys this is not a scam someone must have mislead you i failed to take care of this matter and i had to go inside the court someone came to my job with a arrest warrant and i had to lose my job and reputation and even 4000$ inside the court

A guy with an Indian accent called my desk today. I am new to my work company and answered the phone. Looking for the young lady position that I have replaced. i told him that she was no longer with the company as of 06/29/09. he started to harrass me.

I just got a call from this number with a similar story.  Said his name was Chris McLain.

I had my first phone call today.  I have no idea what they were talking about, but they had ALL of my information.  I have no outstanding loans with anyone.  After I asked them for their information and told them where they could send my written documentation of this outstanding loan, they just asked, "Are you going to settle this debt or not.  That's all I want to know."  I told them that I am not settling anything that is not mine and that they could download whatever information they needed.  He said, "fine see you in court".  

Has anyone ever had any follow through with these people?  Have you ever been called to court over this? How did they get my information?  This is very disturbing.

since few weeks ago My son hung up  till this morning he got call from 971-005-5934 My son said John McClain said I owe him $350.00 on mastercard. I neve give him my acct. John told my son he going to call police to arrest me I really scary. I worry myself why John called here and My son upset and left from my apt for 3 hours now he came and looked internet and found it is scam. He said sorry to me thought I owe him payday. I told him it is lying to him on phone. How John McClain know my phone number?? I am deaf lady. I told my son if same number leave phone alone not get answer. I will report to FCC about this many times called here without no answer in few weeks. We learn this number is SCAM.

I received (many) calls from this and another number from an Asian man stating I owe them money and that they were calling on a legal matter, when I asked what it was about, all he could say was "legal matter".  He then stated if I didn't pay right now he was going to send police to my work and/or home and have me arrested.  I asked to speak to a supervisor, was put on hold, same man came back as saying he was supervisor, told me to "shut up" and threatened me.  They have called my cell phone 25 times in the past 2 days and repeatedly called my work phone, they are relaying pertinent information about me, i.e. ssn, said they have a bank account number but refused to tell me what it was, my work, cell and my mother's cell phone numbers.  They are also harrassing my mother's phone telling her to shut up and leaving nasty voicemail messages.

These people are doing the same thing to my daughter who was highly upset at first because she had no idea what they were calling about.  They called her cell phone 13 times every minute and her work phone and then called even my cell phone.  They were telling us to "shut up"...said this was a legal matter on behalf of Cash Recovery and they too had her SSN, Bank info, etc.  They were very threatening and saying they were going to send the police to her work and home to have her arrested if she didn't pay.  We had an attorney call them back on the MANY numbers they are calling from, and they even got rude with him, and left threatening voicemails.  I have turned these numbers into our Attorney General personally, herei in Kentucky and hope these B*stards can be stopped.  Go back to ASIA or INDIA!!! Get them out of the United States. Scammers beware, the Feds are on your tail.

I KEEP GETTING CALLS FROM # 971-005-5934 FROM MAN WITH A HEAVY HEAVY ACCENT THREATING WITH POLICE & JAIL FOR DEFRAUDING INTERNET & OTHER ISSUES. Indain man calling I have had this happen a few months ago with a different number and name! He called a again when i comfronted him about it he became very angry! What a jerk this is a scam if they call you contact your FBI I did and they will tell you what to do from there

This is about my 2 entries above. I had listed the first on on the site for another phone number, but this is the same person calling again from a different number.  The first posing is actually from March09.

These people still call me several times a week.  Still A very heavy Indian accent. Now he says he's Kevin Johnson. The voice sounds like it may have been computer altered. Now they are calling from 971 005 5934. 411.com info is "Revise your search. No listing was found for the phone number you entered. A valid 7-digit phone number is required for this search." The number left in voice mail to return the call is 202 821 4767. 411.com info is "Type: Land Line  Provider: XO Location: Westchester, DC".  They say. "If you don't return this call, I can only wish you good luck as this unfolds on you."

They are also apparently into my phone records because they are leaving messages for me on friends' and relatives' phones.

I am so fed up with this!!! I have made police reports in hoping that there will somehow finally be enough information compiled from several sources to finally serve up some justice for these scammers.

There was a caller on the line with a very heavy Indian accent. He knew my bank name, account number, the last 4 numbers of my SSN and my email address. When I asked who was calling I was told it was none of my concern and that he just needed to let me know that he was calling an behalf of Cash Recovery and gave me a case #. He said I was in violation of federal banking laws, guilty of check fraud and theft by deception. He said a deposit of a loan was made to my checking account in Nov 2008 and said I would not be prosecuted if I agreed on a settlement amount. I told him nothing he was saying was true and that he was the one committing fraud. He laughed. I told him I would not give any information without knowing who I was speaking with. He said he was calling from United SFI. I asked what SFI stood for. He sounded uncertain as he said States Financial Investigations. At this point I hung up, closed my bank account and my email account. My bank made a report of this.

Oh, they called again later that day and again two days later.  If I dial 706 993 9234 it says can not be completed as dialed.  The number left in a voice mail is 904 239 3959.

DID YOU TELL THE SCAMMERS? If not - that is why they keep calling - until you tell them YOU KNOW THEY ARE A SCAM and file complaints everytime they call - they will stop calling.   You are still fair game to them until you tell them this

I also have just received 6 messages in the past 10 min. from a man with a strong indian accent saying his name is William Brown and call back at 206-548-4443. the number is registered in seattle. His message stated he was a lawyer and if I didn't call him back good luck.

I agree, it is very scary the info these people can obtain!  It makes me glad I have a husband, son, and 4 big dogs at home.

I got the call today.  I answered it because it had an Oregon area code and I know some people in OR.  When I didnt recognize the voice (a very thick accented female) I feigned a bad connection and hung up.  They called back immediately but I didnt answer.  They did not leave a voice mail.  It was interesting to learn what a big scam this one is as 5 years ago I was a victim of identity theft by a fool in NYC.  I kind of hope they call back now that I know what I know about them.

This man just called my work number and asked for me.  I could tell by his accent and call quality/back ground noise that he was some sort of marketing fool so i pretended i was not me.  since i answered with my work greeting i said this is a work line is this a personal call?  he said no its not its professional i said what is this regarding and he said 'oh she knows very well what this is regarding' i said again this is a work number and she is no longer here he said well is this ______ company i said no that company shut down 3 years ago.  he said oh jesus christ' and hung up called back 5 mins later and since its a work line im answering i was not checking CID i answered with my greeting he hung up not a min later he called asking for me associated with my new work name.  He was very rude, swearing, and almost impossible to understand.  i followed hte link above and reported him.  it is scary the info these people have and they are not the nicest people in the world!!!!!! thanks for this info though it helped me to report them and to know it was a scam.

CALLER CALLED SAYING I OWE MONEY WHEN I DON'T.

I got a call from Ed Chavez today at work with a thick Indian accent. Caller ID registered under the 971# I advised him that the person he was asking for was not available, and he begin to say well this person is there and my investigator saw them enter into work today, and put them on the phone now because we are going to lock them up.  This is so funny as I type this, but quite ridiculous.  I called back Ed Chavez at the number of 347-246-5183 which appears to be a New York number.  I told him that he has been in violation of 13 of the 16 Fair Debt Collection Practices if there is such an owed debt, and at this point his calls are considered harassment.  I further went to advise him that his call was being recorded (as you?re suppose to announce when they are being recorded) and he said "you don't need to tell me that your calls are being recorded, I don't give a hell." He further went on to say he will have me fired from my job tomorrow.  I verbally told him to cease  all phone calls to my place of employment and to my cell phone.  Waiting to see what tomorrow brings at the 9-5.  The thing is to keep your cool.  Don't let these scammers get the best of you.

just got a call from a Michael Chivas same story indian accent....noise in background...i just deleted it...and i will put fraud alert on my credit report

I just got the same call from a guy who say his name was Christopher Washington, and I disguised my voice pretending I was from his decent. I immediately pretented to call my son who spoke clear enlish and this guy changed his name several times. This is the number he called from so I did a phone check over the computer and my phone and it does not exist. I also want to add that he said he was working for Chase Financial Investigations. The scary part is that he had my bank account number and social security number this is crazy. I am reporting identity theft as quickly as possible.

I just received a call today from the same man as described in all of the above complaints. He has threatened with police and legal action. His accent is VERY thick and the callback # he gave was 202-379-2321. I have not responded at all to this call and these people need to be stopped. We have too many criminals who are baiting innocent people with their atrocious scams!
