law says in canada, you dont even have to deal with harrasing agencies.You tell them after the first call not to call, go ahead and sue you then.If they call back, its criminal harrasment.log calls, phone the police.They will say anything, but they have no power as they work for a client.Costs money to go to court. Most of it is scams as I see as they dont know who they are really calling and wait for the callback for the information to use against you in stealing ur identity.Dont think this is true of the business.Look no further than wallstreet.Scamming all the time.Credit recoverys is the lowest form of business, its for losers, probably trying to collect thier own lives outta debt.But mostly just a scam.If they get money, they dont pay the client and just open up under another name and do it again.

I answered a call about 10 minutes ago, wishing to play around with them (break from homework) but I got an automated female voice...nobody to trick, so I hung up.

Not sure why, but I answered.  It was an automated call wishing to discuss weight loss products. I hung up as soon as I heard weight loss.  Anybody who knows me KNOWS that I do not need to lose weight.  Obviously they do not know their target market...

I just send my cousin Augie(not his real name) over to do a accident on the callers from these numbers when they annoy me enough. That's way more effective than these stupid DO NOT CALL LISTS. I call it the Ultimate Don't Call Me list.

These Telemarketers can spoof the numbers they call from only if the phone company co-operates. It's time we held the phone company responsible!

I have received a call from this number this a.m. at 11:03 ..... what bugs me is that I got a cell phone and thought that perhaps I would drop the home phone and just use it but I now get these types of calls on my cell!!!  I am so sick of hearing the blow horn with the 'captain' speaking!!!! I sure wish the "Do not call" list worked....it doesn't.

I've received calls from these people more than once. Anything I see on my call display with a completely foreign area code is an unwanted scam. I know that, so I don't pick up the phone and allow myself to be annoyed. I'm on the Canadian 'Do Not Call' list like many others here but that has no application to calls from the USA. They don't have access to that list and most don't likely know of its existence.

Even then, there are exceptions to the restrictions of that list even in Canada. Go to the website and you'll see them. Example: Magazine and newspaper subcription solicitations are allowed. That's just one exception.

A call came from this Dumbkopf this morning while I was out (showed up on call display) I was shocked to learn it is based in Pakistan  I am in ontario

Still trying after all these years! Calling Ontario, they just never quit.

First, I think the solution is to have a phone with "Call Blocking" feature build-in. So you don't have to pay montly fees for blocking individual numbers. Second, they want to get their message across to you by a breif message left on your answering machine. So, I think turn the VM off, they cannot call you twice because you use your phone to block their number. Third, If both option is not available to you, then check with your phone provider, add CALL FORWARDING into your current package. Forward it to a "not in service" number.
Also you must file complaints to Do-Not-Call.....
Someone from another thread had discover the person who run these type of calls...worth to take a look....or call him and ask, see what he know....may be this number is run by his associate, friends or family member.

We called (214) 738-6247 and the individual that answered the phone was the same calller that tried to steal our credit card information and while panicking accidentally divulged information regarding another scam involving some type of tickets.

There are so many of these friggin calls now that I DO NOT answer the phone at all now if I do not know the number.  If it is important & it is someone you know, they will leave a message.  There are a number of scams now from unscrupulous people where once you answer the phone, open the line, your phone is being charged huge long distance fees from places in the world that I have never ever heard of.  Be careful.    Do not answer the phone unless you know the number.    Excuse me for singling you out but - -  - - - older people who might not have any or many family or friends around to look after them, are so, so, so susceptible to these idiots taking advantage of them.  They take these stupid phone calls because they are lonely & long for a friendly voice.   These same older, trusting people also are the same ones who give their bank account number & social insurance number to a poor guy in Zambia who is trying to get his poor sick mother over to the states for treatment for her brain tumor.  He promises to put a couple of million into their account once his mother is in the states but first he has to show that he has a US bank account.   Yea right !!!!!    Please "older people" do NOT answer the phone unless you know the number.    Please get "call display".   AND - - -  NEVER, EVER give out any personal information eve if they say they are the vice president of your bank.   Your bank would never do this.   Sorry to be so long inded.

wow Annie, somebody called you a b***h? I'd call back and get their supervisor. I've worked in call centres (inbound only thank goodness), there are strict policies for what you can and can't say. I'd be all over that s$%t!!!!

Sometimes it's computer-generated and they call all combinations of numbers.  Also, the phone company SELLS your phone number to telemarketers.  I complained to my carrier, and they said "We don't do that - we never sell our phone numbers".  I said "YES you do ... I know this for a fact because I briefly worked for a company (not a telemarketer, though) who bought the lists from you!"  The post office also sells your info.  
This number has been calling me - I just ignore it and if they don't go away I'll answer and have some fun with them.  I got the Microsoft-has-found-a-problem-with-your-computer call one time.  I played along ... pretending I was having problems following their instructions because I was so upset my computer was compromised and kept asking them to repeat the instruction.  I kept them going for over 6 minutes, as they were getting more and more frustrated.  They eventually hung up on me and have never called back!  I also had a telemarketer call me a bi*** when I politely said I did not have time to answer their survey.  That was the end of being nice for me.  It is an invasion of privacy and unless I have personally given them my number - or they are paying my phone bill - they have no right to be constantly calling.

Phoned by this number on my landline. Call Display just said "Oregon." Glad I didn't bother to answer - like so many useless landline calls nowadays. I'm in Sidney, BC Canada.
