phoned about my lost dog--wanted $130.00 to help me find her--i don't think so---i'm not that desperate

Hang up! These are scammers.

These guys have called me multiple times and i don't even have a Windows machine.  One time I tried to call them on their scam the guy resorted to some highly sexualized threats and I ended up calling the cops.

guy with East Indian accent saying calling from Microsoft saying my computer is corrupted I advised him to not call here any more & remove me from calling list.I advised him I would report his ph # from Texas 972-453-9831.He still insisted I go to my computer to check,advised him not signing on to computer & hanging up.Persisted in still talking till I advised calling Security Dept !!

a foreigner called me from this number and said I had malicious software, virus's, etc. on my computer and they needed to be addressed.. he could do that.. ha ha.. I asked how he got MY cell number off MY computer and he said registration provided all of that info.. so, I asked who I was.. he didn't answer, I told him at that point, my computer has not been turned on for 2 1/2 months, I've been gone..  he hung up..  

Call from this number on Sept 26/13, Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. Computer technician. I told them that I too am a technician and do not need help, and asked that my number be taken off call list. He just kept talking, so I hung up. These guys are also calling in the middle of the night, so I turn the phones off.

Missed 2 calls from this company this morning. Just googled the number and found this site.

I am from the UK, never had a call from this number before. Strange how only yesterday I had to give Microsoft my telephone number to "enhance the security" of my sons XBOX Live account.

This number just called me (a male with middle eastern accent) and said be was calling me about my computer.
I said "yeah" in a questioning tone and he hung up.  hmmm I wonder if they are able to
do any damage with just that short of connection.
I guess I should have let the machine get that call.

got a call about my computer having problems. it was from Microsoft/Windows- the person had a english with axent like asian/indian.
I said i was'nt interested and hang up.

I just got a call from this number telling me they are windows technicians and there is an online virus in my computer that can only be fixed by windows tech.  BS The tech will ask you to run team viewer which allows them full access to your computer - Don't do it.  You can call windows for help they won't call you to alert you that your computer has a virus.  SCAM

They called me today stating theyre windows operating system. Knowing that they were I accused them of it and they changed there answer. Be Careful, Ive been getting alot of these lately.

Got Called in Holland too. Same behavior as mentioned by others on this site.

I received a call from this number today saying they are with Windows Operating Systems, the lady had a thick East Indian accent and advised that they were calling very early in the day because they get a report each morning and there is an unauthorized user that has tried to access my computer multipul times.  It was very important for me to go to my  computer now and she would walk me through the security steps to find out who is trying to access my computer..... I started to question where she was calling from and the reason for the call she became very pushy and aggressive.  I hung up..... beware!!!! This is a scam to access your computer.

They called and had the same line about fixing the computer. I allowed them to get on my computer
and then gave them my debit card number for a $ 25.00 charge and  5 yr support for Norton Utilities. This is because I was naive enough to believe they were microsoft sinse I had sent many error messages.But they were unable to put the charge through. They wanted another charge Card but I was pissed off at them for having wasted my time. I have since cancelled my debit card and am reinstalling and cleaning ( I have been planning this for a while anyways) out the hard drive. Presentally I am on Ubuntu now and will use it more in the future. They got me hook line and sinker but no money. But I am going to answer the phone the next time and fabricate a charge card number.

called H>P> hot line had trouble with the printer, talked to someone with a east indian accent, said he would call back in 5 min. when he called back the # showed up as 972-453-9831 is H.P. aware of this ?

Had a similar call this morning here in the UK, which isn't the first time but is the first where the number wasn't blocked. Like SAndrews comment below I also try keeping them on the phone as long as possible, if convenient for me, wasting their time and money. I managed 12 minutes today, getting on with other things while I pretended to be booting up my computer then taking ages to find the buttons he asked me to press. When I told him twice that I couldn't see anything on the screen there was a pause, then a sigh before he said "You're not doing anything are you?". When I said "No", he huffed before saying "Oh f*** off!" and hung up. With the call originating from outside of the UK we can't block or report it as such and so if I can keep them on the line then hopefully it may at least save someone vulnerable being scammed.

Received a phone call late last night on November 2nd.  Hung up .  Nonsense going on in the background.

Received four calls in a row, within 5 seconds of each other. Did not answer of course, so I guess they had to try calling from different numbers:

it is scammers but its the dame phone companys selling our info to 3rd parties thats how they get the numbers

I just got a call from this number. I'm in Quebec. I will be calling consumer protection in the morning about this. The man had a heavy indian accent and said he was calling from Microsoft and that my computer has been sending him error messages. I told him that I usually get the messages is there is a problem. He said that he would have me fix the problems right away "in front of your own eyes"! WHAT? In front of my own eyes? He can't be serious! I told him to give me his number and that I would call back the company to make sure this is legitamate. He told me, "That's fine, but I can fix the problems for you right now in front of your own eyes"... Fine... then give me your number and I waill call RIGHT back RIGHT now in front of your own ears! He hung up! I tried calling back.... disconnected!

The best way to deal with scammers who say they are from Microsoft and have detected possible viruses on your computer (as a means to get you to download software from a site they will eventually direct you to) is to keep them on the phone AS LONG AS POSSIBLE.
I go along with them and indicate that I will have to start up my computer, telling the scammer that it is really slow, probably because it has viruses and I do need some help, then put him on speaker and carry on with whatever else I was doing. If you tell him every minute or two that it's still booting, he'll wait. If you act like a complete novice, unfamiliar with how the computer works, you can stretch the call out for quite a while (my record is nearly 15 minutes) and boy do they get pissed off when they realize they're being strung along (time is money for them). If you get tired of waiting or don't have the time, ask them what their family thinks about their being a criminal. Expect rude comment from their end.

Same pests as everyone else above is reporting. Computer scam. They use all kinds of different numbers. Claim to be Windows Tech Services.
I wish there were a way to stop these crooks.

Funny they have been calling here.  He says that my windows OS needs to be fixed.  Well I am a Mac user....
