I worked for The Geneva Companies.  In general, Bob is correct, and I do recognize the names of some of those people from Geneva.  The percent of engaged companies actually sold was low.  People were led to believe that they would receive much higher multiples for their businesses than were realistic and often very disappointed later in the process.

Why has there not been a post here in over a year? Why hasn't the parties that said they were going thrugh with GE made a post and informed us of the experence?

Have any of you that are speaking negatively about this company had a direct experience with Gen Equit. that give you these opinions... or are these opinions based of of hunches? I am interested to know FIRST HAND GOOD OR BAD experiences. Not arm chair geniuses with wiser than thou comments. I would like direct experiences from sellers who have bit... where are they?

The best thing to do when these guys call is to put them on "neglect"

Tell them to hold on for just a minute and put them on hold.  If everyone puts them on hold for 2-3 minutes then they can't bother as many of us

So you've also stopped making the fake posts (you know, all those "this post has been removed" messages by the admins removing the fake testimonials from YOU) and now just point your victims and would-be victims to some blow-smoke-in-your-face FAQ??? You got caught with your pants down, didn't you? Pssssst, your pants are still on fire!

What a sick joke you are. Were you born without a conscience or was it surgically removed? Aside from that, the only relevant questions are (1) when are you going to return the money you STOLE and (2) when are you going to stop STEALING more money? I haven't visited your stupid FAQ page, but I'll bet those pertinent questions are unaddressed.

And stop confusing "guest" with "mark". You have no "guests" by any stretch of the word.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Thoroughly ashamed.

I signed up with Generational Equity and paid the 34,500. After they started the evaluation process, they decided my company was not  right for them and refunded my money in full.

I did also ask for references and they sent me several tombstones of transactions they had closed. I researched these companies and verified GE sold them.

I felt GE gave me the best chance to sell my company and hoped they could get it sold, however I  was happy that they refunded my money once they determined my company was not a good fit.

Now I am in a situation where I want to exit my business and really have no other options or strategies to do so.

I went to their powwow April 10th 2012 in Boca Raton, Fl and it was First Class. They were all very professional. I cannot say that I did not learn a lot or that what the seminar covered was not interesting. You will learn many new things and it is not a waste of time and.....it is free. Good food and well treated.

But this is just like attending an invitation to a nice free 2-3 day vacation trip to get that glorious sales pitch to buy the Time Share Condo at the end. Seriously, the lead speaker talks relentlessly for 4 hours with one break in the middle AM and then .....10 min before lunch, he breaks you "the bomb" ....that it costs $35G for an under $5M biz and $40K for a $5M or over biz for them to sell your biz.(to even START...no refunds etc. and sales price will be another 10% or even more) Nice strategy!!!...as everyone is told to be discrete there and NOT talk to others for the next 1/2 hours as they eat the provided lunch. Then they say that you have to have a private talk with their senior partner in the afternoon to see "IF" your business will be accepted by them to sell. They say they will only take like 10% of the people there (we had about 25 and so 2-3 people) and "maybe you will be one of the lucky ones". I don't believe this part for one minute! In my private meeting the Senior partner asked me if I wanted to sell, and  DRUM ROLL PLEASE....... are you able to PAY.  I am 100% sure that IF you can pay them, that they will take your money. I have no idea what happens after you pay them as they are all over the NET squashing sites, posts, and legally having Google remove posts, etc. They are VERY savy and secretive. The only posts I have found on the Net say it was "a waste of money" or "1% success rate". I have yet to see any real posts of happy sellers. So for me this is a big RED FLAG. I don't think it is a SCAM but I do think they pump you up to make your think your business is really great (which most are far from) and that you will make millions selling your business with them. Do they sell some business? Sure. Does Gen Equity make the majority of its money on stupid business owners doling out $40K?  Most certainly. I could tell when I was at the seminar that most all the others there were very naive to all this and many will part with their hard earnings and never have anything to show for it. They all like worshiped these guys and tried to have private conversations with them to try to sell themselves and their business and that they were the "Great Ones" please pick me ..pick me!!!!!!.......... Really sad. BUYER BEWARE!

Did they also tell you that they don't work with just anyone? You were "selected" because you've excelled and happen to be in a business that's highly sought after by their buyers. You should've put on your BS sniffer; If you operated a lemonade stand and had 30K to fork over they would've told you how their buyers have acquired an affinity for lemonade.

You hear that lawman? 1-5%.I have a better idea. If you have a marketable business I will bring in a partner and we'll sell your business and we'll only need about 6K upfront to cover our costs. We'll then charge you a percentage at close like most honest sales people do. It's your choice if you got 30K to shove up a hogs rear then have at it.

You're absolutely right Bill. There was a great thread on this subject and Gen Equity had it taken down. They will go bankrupt trying to keep us from chattering about their dishonest organization and immoral business tactics.

I don't know if they're low class tactics. I do know they're highly effective otherwise they wouldn't be using them. If you have a marketable business then you don't need Gen Equity. I know they're the only ones who know how to valuate a business properly to get you the most dollars. I wonder if they're still talking about this is the perfect time to enter the market because of low capital gains taxes.

Hey lawman. Just give them your money. They got you already. After you give them your money you can come back and tell us how it went. There have been some interesting threads this company has had removed. Just go with it. You might wind up finding your soul mate like Adam Sandler did.

Just fork over the 30K already. You know you want to. It's just 30K it'll be ok. What's the worst thing that can happen? They walk away with your money leaving you feeling like a sucker minus 30K. Yes they have been taking people's money for quite some time. Feel free to join the list of suckers I'm sure it's a very long and prestigious list.

Be very careful. Do a little research on M&A. Gen Equity has a lot invested in keeping a clean rep. $30,000 is a lot to pay upfront. If they're so confident why don't they negotiate with you. Say take $10,000 up front and take an additional $30,000 when the sale is consumated. I'm in sales and I have to prove my worth before I get paid. That's usually how it works.

No legitimate, professional company would EVER employ the grotesquely low class tactics of  Generational Equity.  Their telemarketers are relentless.  Turn them down nicely, and they keep calling.  Turn them down firmly and they keep calling.  Turn them down rudely (having run completely out of patience) and they'll triple their assault on your company's main customer 800 number.  Folks, they want you out of your business for a full day, $32,000 of your hard earned cash and even MORE of your time afterward.  All of that time and money could/should be spent selling your business if that's what you desire to do.  You're pros. You built your business up and you can sell it when you're ready too.  Gen Equity has found a profitable niche of relentlessly pestering the weak and misinformed business owners who don't take the time and intelligence to consult with readily available professional resources and prospective buyers on their own.  It's your business - it's your choice - choose wisely.

One more thing, it is even more disturbing to see that the unprofessional Generational Equity "team" are creating their own 'fantastic' reviews. It's a little obvious people.

These guys are a bunch of JOKERS! They might as well be a telemarketing company; in fact they probably are the low-life bottom dwellers. The Generational Equity "team" are annoying, disrespectful, pushy, bottom-line TRASHY, tactless and frankly disturbing. Hang up immediately if you hear Generational Equity on the other end of the receiver. Immediately get them off your calling list, spam list, do everything possible to get these guys to stop!
