Superintendent of Financial Services Benjamin M. Lawsky said, ?All debt collectors in New York should know that it is illegal to try to collect payday loan debts. We will aggressively enforce the law to protect all New Yorkers and especially low income individuals who are all too often abused by unscrupulous lenders and debt collectors.?

Debt Collector
Thry called me today saying I took out a loan August of 2010 and went delinquent in October of 2010. So I asked mr. Mike Davis where he was calling from and he said Mullins and Kane. The loan was taken out of my account the same day they deposited and I seemingly closed the account. Funny they knew my ph#, address, email, my bank name, account number, routing number and all. They even called my uncles name as a reference. Thx to whoever started this page cuz they almost had me. The number they called me from was 972-532-0089. Get them!

Prank Call
This is the 6th attempt from different "companies" to try this on me. These people operate off of (old) stolen information to scam you out of money. Give them your bank account info and risk them cleaning it out!  They can't even use a telephone number in their own state (maybe country?)

Anyone that says otherwise, remember that only the people that would know about this number are the ones being called and the scammers themselves! These people give legit collection agencies a bad name!

Debt Collector
This dude is leaving ridiculous messages calling himself a lieutenant chief investigator claiming I'm under investigation for charges. Seems like this guy should find a new career besides harassing people daily, and how is it he has a tx number if he isn't in tx? Don't claim to be a lieutenant chief when your no such thing stupid.

Debt Collector
These people are relentless.  They are harassing me at my job but they never tell you who or why they are calling or any name of a company that they are calling for.   They offer no correspondence by mail if asked.  So when theykeep calling I will continue to ignore.  They say they are calling from an attorneys office but dont have details as to why they keep calling.

One man has called me from this number repeatedly looking for someone else that happens to have the same last name as me. He is squirrelly. For instance, the first time he called he would not give me his name or the name of the company he works for. When I told him that I am not who he is looking for and that I'd like him to leave me alone he did not apologize or offer to take me off his call list. Instead he kept pushing me with questions about the person he was calling for!! Imagine the nerve! He flat out refused to give me his information when I asked again. When I asked him not to call again, he told me he would definitely call again and as much as he likes! Sound professional and trustworthy to you?

So now, 18 days later, he calls again. Definitely the same guy? I don't know for certain, but likely since this time he had a name and company name ready. This time he does give me his information. He tells me he is "John Thompson" from "Mullins & Kane." He tells me that he is not a debt collector, but that this other person put me down as a credit reference. Hmm. So he is calling repeatedly and acting unprofessional for a credit reference? Didn't seem reputable so I said so and asked for the company's address. Instead of giving me an address he put me on hold. After a decent wait, what sounded like the same man picks up the phone and says something like "litigation" as if that's the department he works in. I ask his name. He says "Adam Neely" and then proceeds to pretend that he's calling about someone with another last name than what he originally called about (a "Mr Johnson"). He says that it is simply a mistake and promises that they will not call again.

IF this is a legitimate creditor then I'd worry about doing business with them. They seem to be pretty untrustworthy! I mean, imagine calling American Express or Citibank or ANY bank for that matter and getting this kind of runaround!

After hanging up, I looked up Mullins & Kane. They are listed as a construction company in Buffalo NY that also has a good deal of complaints logged against them here on 800notes under a different phone number. It is worth noting this phone number comes from Texas, not Buffalo. So who knows what the truth is...other than BEWARE!

Lastly, there is a legal option against this kind of predatory calling practice: the FTC. Just do an online search of FTC Complaint. It takes 5 minutes and helps everyone be better protected.
