The Company that is making these calls for the Shriners used to be called Cunningham and Moore, but it now goes by the name Agente Communications; even though many of the older callers still use the name Cunningham and Moore on the phone. Their main phone number is 972-702-8600. If you call that number, someone in the processing department will answer the phone and you can ask to speak to whoever you need to, and they will transfer you. They do call nationwide, raising money for many of the local Shriners. Some people may call this a Shriner scam, Shriners scam, or Shriners telemarketing scam. I'm just going to list some of the facts as they stand to the best of my knowledge in 2013 and let you be the judge as to how you feel about your donations to this company calling for the Shriners.

The actual truth is that they have "cold callers" and "tap callers". A cold caller is a person who starts out with the company or who has been there a while and hasn't proven their sales ability yet. A cold caller basically calls cold off from a lead list that is organized by zip code. Cold callers call people who have never donated before (however, some of the numbers may include those who have but just by chance) in the hopes that they can get a donation. Once a cold caller gets a person to commit to giving a donation that donor then becomes a tap. A tap is basically a lead of a person who has donated before, a prior donor for the company. These taps, leads, are stored in a different database from then on out, and on your receipt you will see your tap number in the upper left or upper right hand part of the receipt. All the older receipts used to end with either just a number, or the letters top or bull depending on how valuable a donor you were. now they took the letters of and they end with no letters or just the letter t or b so donors would stop asking what that meant. Now a tap caller is a caller who has proven their sales ability and only calls taps, which are prior donors. Again there are different levels of taps depending on how valuable a donor you are: there are "room taps", "top taps", "bull taps", and even taps in what is called "the premier database".

As far as pay for callers is concerned, all callers are guaranteed to get $10 and hour as a base or commission, whichever is higher at the end of the week. The caller gets 35% of every "cold sale" made. So that means that if you have never donated to this company before then you are a cold sale and the caller gets 35% of your donation. As far as taps are concerned, the caller gets 20% of every "tap sale" made. Again, that means that if you have donated to this company then you are a tap sale and the caller gets 20% of your donation. Unfortunately it gets much worse sounding than that though, because most callers are not good enough on the phones to commission at the end of the week, so they just make the $10 per hour. What that means to you is that if a person only raised $800 in donations for the whole week, and that person worked 40 hours, then that caller made a paycheck of $400; and, therefore, that caller alone got 50% of your donation. Keep in mind that that is just the pay to the individual caller and there is a whole office of staff, office rent, etc, etc,.

So you may be wondering how much the top callers at Agente communications make? Well, there are about 5 bulls at this time at Agente Communications. A "bull" is what they call their very top callers. A few of these bulls consistently pull paychecks of $4,000 to $7,000 each and every week. Yes, you read that correctly, and I did not typo and add an extra zero by accident. I have repeatedly and first hand seen their paychecks and seen their weekly tmr report, which is a report off the donations they brought in. So for you big donors out there, listen up: if you donate $1,000 to a shrine circus or hospitals, then that caller you are on the phone with is guaranteed top get 20% of your thousand; again, factually if you donate $1,000 to a shrine circus or hospital or even a shrine golf tournament, $200 of your $1,000 check is going right into the pocket of the caller that is on the phone with you. Believe me I know I have been that caller many times.

So there are some of the facts as far as pay is concerned with the company called Agente Communication, formerly called Cunningham and Moore. I am thinking about starting a website describing the full range of my knowledge of this company in the hopes of giving donors a more informed decision of where their money is going. I will do so if some of you who reply on here would think you would be interested in seeing a website fully detailing this company and how it is run to the best of my knowledge. just reply to this message with your opinion.

By as I said this company calls over many parts of the country for local Shrines, raising money for their circus' and also hospitals, as well as the shrine charity golf tournaments. Here is a short list of many of the local Shrines that we called for while i worked there, along with the local Shrine name, its location, and the caller ID number that may have been in use at that time (keep in mind they change these numbers frequently to keep donors on their feet:

Hella Shrine Ciircus  (Dallas) and Shriners Hopsitals 972-702-2955 (however they have a few more numbers and i don't have them written down.

Al Amin Shrine Circus (Kingsville, Victoria, Hidalgo, Beeville, Alice, and Corpus Christie, Texas) 361-225-2584

Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Circus (Springfield, MO) not sure of the caller id number

Zelzah Shrine Circus (Las Vegas, NV) 702-366-9150

Zuhrah Shrine Circus (Minneapolis, MN) 612-379-1011

OK that is a list of most of the Shrine Circus' that this company has called for while i worked there. Oh and by the way they also call for the AMVETS over many parts of the country, and the Dallas Sherifs posse (which they are currently using as a sponsor for Christmas supplies since they lost the Jaycees contract for it). So if you donate to the Shrine Circus or hospitals through this company then you will become a tap, and you will be called for the AMVETS or any other charity that this company holds a contrat for in your area. And, yes, the pay structure is the same for these other charities also.

So there you have it. That is the facts as I know them to the best of my knowledge at the time of this writing. I still want to make a free website that exposes all the rest of this company as well as the lifestyle of the top callers there and how your precious donations are spent (Such as the one who feels that it is necessary to wear several thousands of dollards worth of clothes every day and has multiple expensive vehicles that are all customized). I hope this message on this board proves valuable to those who are thinking about making donations to the Shriners through this telemarking company.

I've left the Shriners a check under my doormat once a year for years.   But I get phone calls oftener than that.  I believe the callers usually want sponsorships for the circus, as did this morning's caller.  He was in a boiler room judging by the background noise.  He was sure I'd contributed before but couldn't say when, so I asked him to call later after I'd examined my records.  The exam revealed that the most recent contribution was in April 2013.  So Shriners get no more checks till next year.

However, I'd like to know if the Shriners put on telephone drives for more than one of their endeavors -- the Scottish Rite hospitals, for instance -- and if the callers make clear which drive they're pursuing.  If they do, I might kick in a few more bucks for another good cause.

The particular individual in question with the telephone number of 972-7022-955 is in no way shape or form affiliated with The Shriners or freemasonry.

While you are all free to speculate about conspiracies and the secrets of the Freemason fraternity, the Shiners have a spotless track record of charitable operations that is undisputed for over 140 years. In terms of finance, 95% of our fundraising is done internally. I don't mean to boast, but our membership contributions are so substantial that we do not need to seek outside sponsors.

In closing, we strongly believe that we are doing a good thing and consequentially, bashing a free charity such as the Shiners could be viewed as the equivalent of denying a child the critical healthcare that determines his/her outcome. In parting, I wish you all the best and bless you with the prayers of the almighty Lord:

"In Your loving and tender mercy, Lord and Father, assist especially those who are poor and deprived, those who suffer, and all who are without hope in this life unless You come to their aid. It is You alone Who can bring great good out of the worst evils by Your unbounded power. So we trust You to curb the malice of the wicked, to convert sinners, and bring us all to a knowledge of Your love.

These favors we beg in the Name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your only Son, Who reigns forever with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, through all ages. Amen."

Thanks to all who commented about this Cunningham & Moore fundraising scam. This company has poisened the well as far as II'm concerned with ever giving a dime to any phone solicited fundraising. We gave some money several years ago to Jaycees to supposedly pay for underpriveleged kids to go to the movies, and ever since, we get calls all the time.

Caller ID says B. Cunningham. Called several times a week, almost always at dinner time or whenever the most inconvenient. My spuse and I give to several charities on a reguallar basis and the fact that Cunninham and Moore is taking advantage of generous folks and outright harassing them overe and over and over when they say NO, borders on illegal in my book.

I am going to contact the BBB and local news Media if they call 1 more time. BTW, don't believe any BS shills on this board saying it's all for the kids. They folks that run this company are going to have to answer to a higher power someday for lying and misrepresenting themselves.

I used to work for Cunningham and Moore. It's a good company to work for. The owners are Shriners themselves. They have 2 departments - one that calls businesses for donations to the hospitals and another that calls residences for donations for the circus they put on each year. This is not a scam. They hire couriers to pick up donations and only call local - in the DFW area. This company was great for me when my husband was injured and I needed a second job to make ends meet. Sure, it sounds like they need more advertising so they're not perceived as a scam. I don't know how much of the donations go to charity and how much covers admin costs, but this company really does take charity donations and they are not a scam.

I get calls from a parties by the name of B. Cunningham, 972-445-5934, Nicholas Wright, along with several others.  They are all claiming to be raising money for Hella Shriners Circus.  I have asked each and every one to quit calling, yet I got another call just this evening from B. Cunningham.  When I asked if this was B. Cunningham calling, the gentleman hung up.

Any chance that these calls are part of the "Income from Home" businesses that are advertised?  They are soliciting money for someone and each caller gets a percentage of money earned?

I also received a call from them,
I became suspicious when I asked them if they have a web site I can check  out.
They said Mam we dont set out to hurt anyone!!
This was a strange response, I felt A legit company would not mind being checked
out and would not say something like that, it was a play on my emotions,
and I felt manipulated in the way she said it.
I have done more checking, and even if they are a middle man so to speak,
some people make a business at funding charities with as said before very
little going to them... I dont care if someone is a member, that does not make
them a spokesperson for the whole.

I am on the dont call list, but get alot of charity calls, and now see why. (if its true
they share these, I have fallen for the police sponsered stuff and this one
more than once.)
I am with others, I would rather give my money DIRECTLY to the charities
in fact the couple I have chosen to support, I do so because of the high return
on the money given.
So.. I found this at the dont call list site, its good to know, I plan to tell all
charity people who call, that I have already chosen my charities to support.
and do no SUPPORT at the door or on the PHONE period..
I am asking them to remove me from there list and plan to keep a record of it.
Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?
Following is one of the statements at the National dont call site, CHECK it out :)

Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of ?telemarketing.? Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000

We can take control of this, and put our money where it makes the most for those in need.
I am tired of being manipulated on the phone!

I worked there and it is a Shriner's.  They are also affiliated with Barnum & Bailey Circus.  They are calling asking for donations to help terminally ill, specially challenged and low income children to be able to go to the circus.  They call in area's that they are fixing to set up a circus and the proceeds pay for the children to go.  Some of those children needs special circumstances to go like to stay in their hospital beds.

I get calls from this group every year claiming that "we" (my company) contribute every year for 12 years. I know that an individual in this company gave at some point but has not contributed in several years. (they claim that he gave last year every time they call). This year, they called for "our" contribution again. The person that gave in the past is no longer here so I told them that. In order to be fair, I gave the name of his replacement and asked that they send a request in writing and I would make sure he saw it. Next, I got a call from the driver confirming a pickup of a contribution from a secretary no longer here either that was "pledged" by the person whose name I gave them. Interesting to hear as I am the one who replaced the secretary they mentioned over a year ago and no one made any such pledge. Then, I get a faxed invoice for this same bogus "pledge" with the name of the old secretary's name on it as a contact. Just out of curiosity, I looked up the Hella Shrine Circus located in Garland and called them. They confirmed that this is a telemarketing company hired by them to solicit these funds. I can't imagine why they would employ such a company but it appears they do.
Note, these contributions are not tax deductible. At least they stated that correctly on their invoice.

This is NOT A SCAM!...the reason they dont leave detail messages is because most of yall broke, inconsiderate people would never call back if you truly knew this was for donations.the company is cunningham and moore..they are both shriners...the reason they do pick ups is because most people never mail back, and its quicker...think about it dummies,if yhey were using the shriners as a front, there is no way that this would still be going strong for 20years now..people always have an exscuse to not help people..stop listening to wanna be bloggers and research for your self..put down the chips and turn off the t.v. For once...and yes 100% of proceeds DO BENEFIT THE SHRINE CIRUS....just because they use a call center to raise funds doesnt make it a scam...the shriners pay these people to do this and they are very well aware

This is not a scam we raise funds for the Shrine Circus for the Shriners and these funds are used to send special needs and less fortunate kids to the circus for free. It also helps to pay circus expenses and the work the Shriners do in the local area. We have been doing this circus for over 40 years and the website is http://www.circusdallas.com/schedule.php. The reason we pefer to have a staff member pick up the check and leave the reciept and thank you letter is because we have done mail programs and they did not work. It also takes money away from the children as we have to send a self addressed stamped envolope and we have to have someon stuff the envolopes and we get a 30% return. We do not force anyone to give these are voluntary contributions. I want to personally thank you for your giving it means alot to the children. The reason we call until we get hold of someone is because we care so much for the children anyone can go to the Circus except for the special show that is closed to the public for the special children. We have done this for over 40 years and it is definitly not a scam.

God Bless You,

IT IS NOT A SCAM....

It is not that difficult to do your homework and answer this question yourself. I got online looking for a website that was connected with the Shriner's Hospital and I found this:

www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org

go to the contact page here:
http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/en/Hospitals/ContactUs.aspx

on the contact page it lists the number for the headquarters, which i have included here. I called and spoke to the receptionist, and she said I could call the Hella Shrine location in Garland and they could tell me whether or not this was someone calling that was actually associated with them. Here is the main HQ information:

Shriners International Headquarters
2900 Rocky Point Dr.
Tampa, Fl 33607
Telephone: 813-281-0300

The receptionist gave me this number: (972) 240-6624. This is the Shriner Temple located in Garland. I spoke to the person there and she said Cunningham and Moore is a center that they use to out source their calls to help raise donations for their cause. Currently they are doing the Hella Shrine Circus. The donations go to send under privileged children to the circus. If you're looking to donate to the Hospital and looking to donate money for the children at the hospital, this is not what this number is calling for. If you want to help a child who probably doesn't have a lot of fun experiences like the circus, then this is the place to do it. IT IS A LEGITIMATE DONATION CENTER. I verified with the Shriner Temple of Garland that the two men (cunningham and moore) that run this are actually members of that temple and are shriners and the woman actually said (and I quote) "these men are angels". The solicitation of the donations are legitimate. It's sad people jump to conclusions and have prevented several people from donating who would have had they found the right website and gotten accurate information.

Some of the people that work there are new, and don't stay there for very long... including a co-worker I spoke to.  He used to work for them but I knew he had a temperament similar to that and lack of social skills... So sorry you received such a strange call. Hell it might have been him. Most of them are really very kind, and don't insist you are giving them a wrong name.

I have given to the Shriners for years. You can donate directly to Shriner Hospitals for Children at the website www.ShrinerHospitalsforChildren.org or call 1-800-291-GIFT. There are commercials on TV that give this same information. Be informed and make a donation that counts. Telemarketers are relying on your sympathy for children who need help. If we all say no it puts them out of business. Give directly to your charities. By the way Scottish Rite Hospital is not supported by the Shriners it's run by the masons and only gets money from the general fund pennies on the dollar. Support them directly also at their website www.tsrhc.org or call 214-559-5000. Don't allow telemarketers make you do something you know isn't right.
