TXFOP - bogus organization soliciting money for "police" members hurt or disabled due to service.  Real police forces don't solicit money this way - I've read the callers are just another scam calling begging for money.  Hang up on them!

972-769-5172 Texas FOP - called asked for my father who passed away more than 6 months ago

I did not answer this Texas call   but have had calls from people in the past that were calling for FOP in other states.  I inform them my husband was a police officer and I was told not to do business with collectors over the phone.   we give directly.    they immediatly hung up.

And the calls continue.

Yep got call from this number, person asked that i not hang up till i heard what he had to say.  gave me the whole speel about how money is for the police officers to use for fingerprinting chldren, to families of police officers who were injured in the line of duty and so on and so on.  caller  then asked if i would donate money.  i figured it was a scam and told him  i would not.   it seems these scammer's call about every 5 to 6 months.TX FOP

This is a scam - another boiler room operation.

This is a scam!!  Fraternal order of police has nothing to do with locall city Police or State Police !! They are tellermarketers that scam people and do not give a damn about the do not call list!!  Block and report the call!!  Least they will have to change to a different number the next time they call and ask for you by your name!!

I do not do charity phone solicitations at all.   Years ago I DID ONE and from that call I then got dozens and dozens of calls as I suppose my number was sold to others.  The reason I know this was that every call began with:  well you helped us in the past and I knew that I had not.  This is a charity so of course they do not count as far as the do not call list.  Was glad to hear that only 2 cents was actually given to officers as I remembered this charity being one of those fundraiser type calls.

So people pick your own charitys and given liberally to them and DO NOT DONATE TO ANYONE WHO CALLS YOU ON THE PHONE!!!!!!

I TOLD the guy just now that I have my own charitys and only give to him and he went on and on so I said goodbye, thank you and politely hung up.  He is now blocked -- second number of theirs that I am blocking.

I just called and had my bnumber removed. They said it takes 30 days. I will let you all know how it goes. I have been getting these calls and I just moved here a year and a half ago.

I get calls from this number at work (a church) and they hang up on me as soon as I say the name of the church.  Yet they keep calling the church number!  The caller ID shows them as TX FOP.

I just got a call from this number!  I see that it's most likely a scam, so am reporting it.

when they call me I angrylee ask them if they got my phone number from the ticket just got?
this usually shuts them up but if they persist I ask them if they really think I'm going to give them any money after getting a ticket from the cop that hid behind a bushes?

I did check on this and less than 2 cents actually goes to the families.

I'm just at the point  now that I never answer my phone, letting it go to voice mail and check it latter.

THEY ARE A BUNCH OF A** HOLES. I HAVE BLOCKED TWO NUMBERS SO FAR, AND CALLED ONE TO HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER  REMOVED. 1-972-217-8323 AND 1-972-769-5172 WOULD LIKE TO LOCATE THE EXACT SOURCE OF THE CALLS AND PAY THEM A VISIT. ANY HELP WITH THE EXACT LOCATION?

This number showed up after one ring and then stopped.  Glad to know it is a solicitor.  My advice is never to give to any non-profit.  I have been on several Boards for large non-profits and the money mostly goes to pay overhead and salaries. Give to a local church or group you know personally.  The big groups always waste your money on the staff.  Only exception is the Salvation Army.  I will give to them.

Tries hard to get you to agree to give money over the phone, which is of course a terrible idea.
The reason given to solicit money was to help the "Fraternal Order of Police".

At the end of the call, another recording provided various details about who they claim to be, namely "Corporations for Character."

I note that there apparently exists a button sequence that can be pressed during those calls to automatically remove yourself from their calling list (see http://www.pfcl.org/What_The_Fundraisers_Say.html ), alas I'm not privy to the sequence itself.

Ps: The "Call Type" choices at the bottom are unsatisfying. While the type is ostensibly "non profit", it's painfully obvious that Corporations for Character, the entity doing the cold calling, is very much for-profit and taking a large cut of whatever money they can convince people to part with.

Caller requested I not hang up but to just listen. Speech finished and I said I would consider it, just send the information. Caller said to just make certain that I would give if they sent the information. I reminded him, if you can't send and hope I will do what I stated I would do, then not to send. Then I said I was hanging up and did so.

Now with the other things here, I doubt I will be sending ANYTHING to these people. I did check for the "real" website for the real group, but I still doubt I will do anything other than throw it away.

This shows as TX FOP on my caller ID.  They are soliciting donations for the Texas Fraternal Order of Police.

They have several different numbers they use and they will hound you to death.  The TX FOP website appears to be legit, but I don't know if these callers are.  Their tactics seem unethical to me.

I got a call from 972-769-5172 and the caller ID showed Plano, TX.  If this is in fact coming from FOP (Fraternal Order of Police), they are telemarketers that try to convince you that they are collecting money on behalf of officers injured or killed in the line of duty.   From what I've been able to ascertain through researching them is that they do in fact give a little money to officers or the families of officers.  

HOWEVER, BE AWARE OF THIS...the majority of the money they collect goes for "administrative functions", which is another way of saying that most of the money goes to pay salaries for the folks that created and run this scam.  The other portion goes to pay for the telemarketers.

If you want to contribute to officers injured or killed in the line of duty there are better ways to do that.  Personally I contribute to the 100 Club because most, if not all, of the money they collect goes for the intended cause and not to a bunch of jerks claiming to represent fallen officers.
