This is a legitimate sales call. McAfee only calls from this number if you are a current McAfee subscriber. It's possible they may call if you have used a trial of their software. I just got a call from them because we used McAfee at the office until I started working there. Considering McAfee sucks and is the worst A/V software around, I would hang up on them based on principal. =P

If people would get over the fact that Mcafee calls on customer to increase their business they would see that they do infact improve online sales by average of 12% this doesnt mean everyone. With that why would Intel buy the company for a huge permium if it was a company that did not have a great product. The service is a great buy, there are other companies out there that are cheaper, but I drive a nice sports car because i can afford it granite there are other sports cars out there that are cheaper like a 350z but I can afford to dive one that will increase my chances of winning in a race and do it with a car that everyone knows. EVERYONE!! Just like everone knows Mcafee, thats why you pay the price to go with the service everone knows and trust.

That's funny. They have actually proven their results. Look at their case studies.

This is a genuine call from McAfee Virus Scan or web security renewal service.
The staff there have an accent. They may be from India or some other country with similar accent, but that doesn't mean they are bad !
Their procedures are to generate e-mails from McAfee records and to follow-up with phone calls, but they do not leave messages.
They won't make attempts to collect information they don't already have, but they will send you a real McAfee link to complete your business transaction.

Got a call from an Indian woman telling me my McAfee subscription had expired on Feb 28. When i told her I had renewed it, she said, "Oh good. Can you tell me your grant number so we can stop calling you?" I couldn't find it easily and told her so. She then said "thank you, we will check our records and update them."
Going to contact McAfee with this info.

Didn't recognize the number, let it go to VM.
VM was nothing but random office noise and faint breathing sounds.
K 2011-06-06 21:08:28 Unknown
Called 4 times in the space of 10 min - twice my voicemail recorded background sounds (typing and unintelligible voice(s)) for 3 minutes

Wow, another person from McAfee. No surprise they are casting insults.
Hey 'successful business owner', read my reply above to Joe.
McAfee has no data to back up their claims. They are desperate liars pushing snake oil. Why else would they be making cold calls?
Save your money and spend it on a Google AdWords campaign.
Erked 2010-05-13 20:20:35 Unknown
Haha, you're clearly a McAfee tool. Who the hell else would advise people to listen to a rude sales call? I don't care how good (I know it's not) the offer is, I don't buy anything from sleazy phone sales. I refuse to support it in any way. 15% is total BS, the only way that would happen is if you were doing no SEO at all before the certification. If that's the case, you're an idiot x2.
One of my clients asked me to speak with the McAfee guy who was calling him 15 times a day, trying to sell "Site Certification". I called him to say no. Now I get cold calls every day from their sales center.
McAfee's bloated AV suite was always sub-par. Now that Microsoft decided to actually support exploits in its own operating system by releasing MSE (free antivirus), AV companies are scrambling to replace their lost revenue. McAfee is the worst with this as they rely on ignorant home users because their software is too crappy for corporate systems.
...on top of that, I've read that their "Hacker Safe" site certification ignores XSS exploits. So buyer information can easily be stolen using their "secure" system. Brilliant, they want you to pay $1,400 a year for fake security... pfffft.
WHAT A JOKE! So sick of this company.

Scott McCurry is an amazing and upstanding person. I would make him the godfather of my children if I had any. He would NEVER solicit or threaten a person by phone. Also, i dont think you're using the word "extortion" correctly, unless you're paying someone to leave you alone...and i believe it's spelled "jErk"...just a thought
successful business owner 2009-12-29 19:14:14 Unknown
If you answer the phone, and keep an open mind, you will see that McAfee helps business retain traffic and does in fact increase online orders and conversion ratios. the problem is ignorant business owners that think they have it all figure out but yet have under a 1% convesion ratio (which is horrible) If you have issues with calls, answer the phone, or shut down your business. It sounds like you are scared of hearing how you are not as smart as you think you are and really dont know anything about running a profitable business. In fact, give me the industry your in, and I will give you a list of multiple competitors that swallowed they're pride and now are tapping into an untouched vehichle for extra revenue. I am sure you will try to deny proof as you do know it all. Good luck....no one can cure ignorance.

This guy harasses me and my customer about renewing his mcafee software even though he has been told repeatedly by myself and customer to stop! I will not be selling their software anymore!
Spooked 2008-02-15 18:14:44 Unknown
The same number has called me back several times. This morning (February 15th) the person that called from that number was breathing in the phone like out of their mouth it was eerie and gross. Stupid idiots should have left a message. I will complain if this happen again, I can also block the number from our phone system.
Evil McAfee 2008-01-29 15:39:40 Telemarketer
Yes, they've been calling me at least once or twice a month for several months now. I've registered a complaint with the BBB - we'll see how that goes...
Another victim 2008-01-22 22:11:30 Unknown
Yes, me too.
private caller 2008-01-22 19:29:15 Unknown
I get a silent call that rings twice from this number every afternoon! I have never done any business with this company since getting this cell phone and have not renewed or used any of their products for several years. (And never will now!)
