This is an energy broker (who won't identify themselves) who is trying to get you to switch over from PSEG or JCPL.  I, too, receive 5 or more calls per day from this number, and I, too, am on the Do Not Call Registry.  Sometimes they call me about my "current bill with PSEG".  Sometimes they call me about my "current bill with JCPL.  That should tell you something.

When you try to talk to a rep to get your number removed, they will ask for your account number.

NEVER GIVE ANY ACCOUNT NUMBER OR EVEN YOUR NAME TO ANYONE COLD CALLING YOU.  ANY LEGITIMATE COMPANY THAT YOU ALREADY DO BUSINESS WITH ALREADY HAS YOUR NAME AND ACCOUNT NUMBERS, AND WILL NEVER ASK YOU TO PROVIDE THESE THINGS.  IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU FOR THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE, IT IS A SCAM.

Furthermore, whoever these people are, they at times try to misrepresent themselves as PSEG or JCPL to gain your trust (they are NOT PSEG or JCPL; again, they refuse to identify who they are).

This is a shady scam.  Just look at the phone number:  973-147-8799.  The prefix is 147.  I'm pretty sure that the prefix is supposed to start with any digit that is 2 through 9, but a prefix starting with 1 is not legitimate.  Think about it.  Have you ever known of a phone number, whether in the 973 area code or any other area code in the United States, where the prefix starts with a 1?  I don't think so.  This is why when you try to call this phone number, "Your call can not be completed as dialed."  It seems, you can't trace this number to any actual identity, and that is probably how this entity, whoever/whatever it is, is getting around the Do Not Call Registry.

Obviously, this is not a legitimate company if they are using deceitful practices to get around the Do Not Call Registry, misrepresenting themselves as PSEG or JCPL, and don't even have legitimate phone numbers.

Again, notice that all the prefixes begin with a 1.  158, 138, 149, etc. etc.

Another change your electric comapny robocall. I have selected 3 to remove our phone from the list to no avail. If you select 1 to speak with a rep the line always tells you there are 2 calls ahead of you. I spoke to Irene and pretended to be interested and the supposed company name. Now new weird numbers are coming thru from the same company. I doubt you will ever get them to stop.

"New Jersey" is allegedly on the other end of the line. Should I answer? I can't think of a single reason to. The Do Not Call rules are obviously too lax and need to be strengthened.

In NJ you can actually change your energy supplier while staying with your current provider PSE&G etc.. although I am not saying this telemarketer co. is legit or not, I have done this and it is legit way to save money on your electric bill.

I agree it is annoying and I can't say for sure if this telemarketer is legit or not but there is a new law for many areas that allows you to choose a different energy supplier while staying with your current provider like PSE&G etc.. I have done this but I went about it on my own because you just cant trust anyone who call's on the phone.

The past few weeks I have gotten a bunch of calls from NJ numbers. One of them I actually picked up and it was the usual change your energy provider crap. I keep missing this one and they never leave a message but I wouldn't be surprised if it too is what the previous posters are saying and a change from PSE&G telemarketer. After all, what's with a telephone number where the exchange starts with 1?!?

yeah ive been getting random calls from this number also for the past couple days but never pickup. i also got 732 147 8799, anyone pickup and know what its about?

Claims to be pseg and that you can get a 10% discount asked my boss about it (i am a pseg employee) and it is fake.

I also received a call from this number.  Let it go to voice mail.  there was no message left.  It's a scam.  I am tired of being harrassed by these unscrupulous people.

Automated Energy co. Telemarketer - same number within 2 days, different area code - one day it was 973-147-8799, today 732-147-8799.

RECEIVED A COUPLE CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER IN LAST COUPLE WEEKS.

Received yesterday.  The government need to dump the 'Do Not Call' and ban our personal information from being publicly displayed without authorization.
