Hello, I got the call from this #, too
They call me 10 times today. And the 11th time I got it. I answered the phone and talked with one lady. She said she froms Government grants bla bla bla. She will send the packet that has grant information. It's free. But you need to pay the postage $1.40 for she can send it to me. But I said I don't have credit card. Then She told me I can cancle it by call other number she give me. But I didn't write it down. And I try to call her again. But it said it's not available at this time.

It's scammmm. I can tell that maybe she isn't American, because her accent is not American accent.

We're getting dozens of calls all week.  I finally answered the phone after reading some of these posted messages.  This time, they are calling themself "Grant Funding Search".  I'm not sure how they got so much information on us.

1-973-210-7591 has called a total of 38 times since Friday (now Monday) - and I took option 2, to be removed from the list - which I think was the biggest mistake as they now know its a genuine number - yeah real smart of me.

All I heard was Customner Service and then options

These numbers 973-250-4543 and 973-210-7591 I believe are associated.  I kept getting calls from the 250-4543 for 3 weeks several times a night between the hours of 7:00pm and 9:30pm.  I reported them to my phone company and also went to the donotcall.gov website and filled out a complaint.  (You have to be registered on the donotcall.gov website for this part)  Finally after 3 weeks the first number is done and now the 2nd number is calling.  I will be listed complaints on this one as well.  Have to get the police involved to get rid of these bad boys.

I signed up for the service to block calls and put this number on the block. So far I have not had a call today. If it stops the calls, it's worth the 4.99 (plan to cancel after 1 month).

I received I believe it was 9 calls from this number yesterday afternoon on my cell phone. One time I called back and they gave me the option to remove my number from their call list. However, after I did that I received more calls. Perhaps it will take effect now and I won't receive any more. I hope so, it is very annoying.

i started receiving these calls yesterday - at least 8 a day. I stopped answering. My cell phone company says the only options are to change my phone number or sign up for call blocking at $4.99 a month. I'm going to try blocking and hope they give up after a month.

I tried to do a reverse phone lookup - for free all I get is the location is Newark, NJ. If I want more info, it costs.

I entered a complaint on ftc.gov. At least I felt like I was doing something.

This is what happened to me too!! Exact same thing. Started filling in info for the grant info packet, they asked for credit card, I googled "Scam," and there were plenty of mad people saying their credit card was charged without permission for like, $40. So, I didn't go through with it, left the website. Then I started getting the calls. Talk about effin annoying!!! I started answering and telling them multiple different ways, NO, I am not interested. And then I started getting meaner (I'm not a mean person) and told them to stop calling me.
"NO. NO. NO. STOP CALLING ME!" (I hung up). (The called back with different number 4 days later)
"Yeah, you guys keep calling me. I'm not interested. STOP CALLING." (They called back 3 days later with different number).
"I told you to take me off your call list. STOP CALLING."
I don't answer, and they keep calling.

They stopped calling for a week, and they're calling again today and I haven't answered-- they called FIVE TIMES ALREADY! I'm trying to think up my next thing to say. Possibly mentioning the Better Business Bureau(BBB)?

You know, MER, it is interesting... I don't answer it and it just hangs up after the 3rd ring. It never leavs a message. After reading your post it makes me wonder how many of us did *not* complete the credit card portion when we realized it was a SCAM, and instead of the form erasing our numbers, the form collects and deposits it into a redail-database, obviously for the purpose of revenge and annoyance. What half-baked, loosers!!! I am still looking for that link.

Lamet, Thank you for posting such detailed and important information. I think it is worth copying and pasting into a Word doc and saving it on my computer for future reference. I should even paste it into an email and forward it to all my friends.

To other posters, It is absolutely in connection with the grants! When I submitted my initial post to this board (above) I thought it may have been in connection with a fraudulent Google Links site, but I omitted to mention that the very same site was also pushing the grants! I will try and find the link again, but in the meantime, I can say that it had a picture of a female, hugging her 80+ year old mother, explaining how she had worked the auto industry her whole life before loosing her job but then the clouds parted (my sarcasm) when she discovered and received a grant to that paid off all her debts and then funded her new online business- I believe a Google Links/Ads/Master business. The first part of the form asks for you name, possibly address (I only ever enter a PO), and Telephone#- of course that gave them permission to call me.  When it came to the second part of the form that asks for the credit card information, of course I did not enter and had assumed that by not completing thier form my other information was erased- apparently not so! I have receiving calls 5 times an hours, all day, every day, for the past 3-4 days.- Sigh, "Me Too"

ALL GRANT OFFERS VIA PHONE AND WEBSITES ARE SCAMS - DON'T FALL FOR THEM

Government Grant Scams
The "free money" scam has been around almost as long as the human species.
It has more variations than a bulldog has wrinkles but you can count on one thing: the government (any government) does not simply give money away to individuals. Anyone who tells you differently has larceny in his heart.
If you give him your bank account number, he will soon have your funds in his pocket.
It does no good to list all of the names used by these bunko artists because a.) they change all the time and b.) every single free-money government-grant offer is a scam. Period.

FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION WEBSITE
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/alerts/alt134.shtm

?Free Government Grants?: Don?t Take Them For Grant-ed
?Because you pay your income taxes on time, you have been awarded a free $12,500 government grant! To get your grant, simply give us your checking account information, and we will direct-deposit the grant into your bank account!?
Sometimes, it?s an ad that claims you will qualify to receive a ?free grant? to pay for education costs, home repairs, home business expenses, or unpaid bills. Other times, it?s a phone call supposedly from a ?government? agency or some other organization with an official sounding name. In either case, the claim is the same: your application for a grant is guaranteed to be accepted, and you?ll never have to pay the money back.
But the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation?s consumer protection agency, says that ?money for nothing? grant offers usually are scams, whether you see them in your local paper or a national magazine, or hear about them on the phone.
Some scam artists advertise ?free grants? in the classifieds, inviting readers to call a toll-free number for more information. Others are more bold: they call you out of the blue. They lie about where they?re calling from, or they claim legitimacy using an official-sounding name like the ?Federal Grants Administration.? They may ask you some basic questions to determine if you ?qualify? to receive a grant. FTC attorneys say calls and come-ons for free money invariably are rip offs.
Grant scammers generally follow a script: they congratulate you on your eligibility, then ask for your checking account information so they can ?deposit your grant directly into your account,? or cover a one-time ?processing fee.? The caller may even reassure you that you can get a refund if you?re not satisfied. In fact, you?ll never see the grant they promise; they will disappear with your money.
The FTC says following a few basic rules can keep consumers from losing money to these ?government grant? scams:
Don?t give out your bank account information to anyone you don?t know. Scammers pressure people to divulge their bank account information so that they can steal the money in the account. Always keep your bank account information confidential. Don?t share it unless you are familiar with the company and know why the information is necessary.
Don?t pay any money for a ?free? government grant. If you have to pay money to claim a ?free? government grant, it isn?t really free. A real government agency won?t ask you to pay a processing fee for a grant that you have already been awarded ? or to pay for a list of grant-making institutions. The names of agencies and foundations that award grants are available for free at any public library or on the Internet. The only official access point for all federal grant-making agencies is www.grants.gov.
Look-alikes aren?t the real thing. Just because the caller says he?s from the ?Federal Grants Administration? doesn?t mean that he is. There is no such government agency. Take a moment to check the blue pages in your telephone directory to bear out your hunch ? or not.
Phone numbers can deceive. Some con artists use Internet technology to disguise their area code in caller ID systems. Although it may look like they?re calling from Washington, DC, they could be calling from anywhere in the world.
Take control of the calls you receive. If you want to reduce the number of telemarketing calls you receive, place your telephone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. To register online, visit www.donotcall.gov. To register by phone, call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236) from the phone number you wish to register.
File a complaint with the FTC. If you think you may have been a victim of a government grant scam, file a complaint with the FTC online at www.ftc.gov, or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.
The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters consumer complaints into the Consumer Sentinel Network, a secure online database and investigative tool used by hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

Mike, was it Government Grant Solutions? I can get through to the number, but they don't identfy themselves.  They give you an option to add to the do not call list, which I did, but that probably takes a while.  I tried to get through 3 times to a "representative", but they were all busy and couldn't take my call at this time; no option to hold or anything.

I have been getting these calls every hour since 9 am, today, on my cell.  Yesterday, I filled out an application for a scholarship and left my cell #.  I also asked for an information packet about grant information.  This was all yesterday and I never give out my cell, so I know that one of these things has something to do with it. Good luck everyone.

This is the only think I think of that I did out of the ordinary- and it was yesterday. 4 calls in the last hour- I just press "reject" without answering the call. We'll see.
