I got the same thing - for 3 of my rentals. Finally caught on that something fishy is happening so looked it up and found this page. "Cathy" emailed me and included this number,973-253-0908.
These people make me sick.
Hey "Cathy", why not make an honest living like the rest of us? Loser.

Cathy emailed me about a rental I posted on Zillow yesterday. She included this number,973-253-0908. She wanted me to email her an application and send her instructions on applying. Did not ask to see property. Googled the number and ended up here to discover it's a scam to steal real estate listings. Set up alerts on the different sites so I can monitor. Guess that's all that can be done.

I received an email for a house I have for rent on Zillow from Cathy. The email asked for a rental agreement. No questions about terms or conditions or a viewing.
It requested the lease agreement be sent to:
c.ath.y.qu.e.dzuweit@gmail.com or 973-253-0908
There should be an open hunting season for these types of people.

YES scammer. Cathy and the like are scammer who are seemingly involved in online real estate fraud. They hijacked my listing via Zillow and "re-offer" the property at a lower rate for rent. When the prospect contacts them they send an email telling them to disregard the realty sign and send the money directly to them. The prospect is pretty mad when they send 500.00 or so and are told to contact the realty company for the keys!! It took me almost 3 weeks to get Zillow to "wash" my listings. Now I have an alert of everything I list so I can track the bogus ads. Do no send them rental applications, they are copying them in attempts to look more credible. I have have my IT track a few or them...They are set up through proxy servers, email and phone numbers. One was tracked to Bakersfield, CA and another out of the country. We could go no further without a court order. Lowlife!!!

We receive a call at least once a week from this number. They never leave a message, but it is getting rather annoying, as they call at any hour of the day or night.

I just received a call a few minutes ago from this same number. When I answered, I could hear a woman saying something to someone else in the background (another "rep"?) but all I could make out was something like "for a minute" and "hang up". Then after I said hello the second time, she said she was calling with a brief television survey. She asked me:
Did I watch TV more than 1 hour per day?
My occupation?
My age group? (but gave no "groups" to pick from)
How do I pay my bills?
When I told her "it depends on the bill", she asked if I had a checking account. I said yes. She asked if I had a debit card, I said yes. Then she said "for taking part in this brief survey, you are entitled to a free 1 year subscription to a magazine" and listed about 6 or 7 different titles. When I said "Redbook would be the only one I'd be interested in - but is this going to cost me anything?" she hung up.
Of course, when I tried to call the number right back I hear the recording telling me it's been disconnected. So it's obviously some company using a method to "spoof" their number so they can't get caught. Which leads me to believe it would have to be a scam, since a legitimate business wouldn't need to hide their number.
I just moved, and in fact just listed my new number on the Do Not Call Registry today. It takes 31 days before it will take effect, however even when my old number was registered calls like this would happen. Since they are hiding their true phone number, they are probably trying to scam people and could care less about "Do Not Call" lists.
I wish someone could invent something or someway to prevent a call from going through if the number is "spoofed". If they do - I want credit for thinking of it!

I have had my phone line for 3 days and have gotten 6 calls from these people. They wait until I pick up, and then hang up on me. What??
| Pissed off 2007-12-19 02:38:28 Unknown |
I answered this number during the day and some lady said she was calling about a survey. When I hung up on them and told them to p****off they continue to call every night and hang up.

I keep getting hang-up calls from this number, and my number is brand new! What do they do, constantly update their call-list from online phone directories or something? Is there anything that can be done about it?
| Sharona 2007-11-02 23:11:01 Unknown |
I am from NJ and moved to SC in 07/2007 to return to college to pursue another degree. It was strange to see a NJ number on my caller id down here. Same thing; calling back registers a recorded message that the phone is disconnected. My SC number is listed, so my being from NJ must have landed me on some type of list from this number. Who knows.

I have the same phone #, 253-0908, but a different area code. I am ALWAYS getting calls from strangers stating that I have called them - but I have not. They don't dial the area code, and end up reaching me. It's running up my minutes (yes, this is a CELL PHONE) and is annoying, besides. I need to find out how to STOP this person from calling from this #.
