I never answer, but block the number. Then they change the caller ID by a digit and the new number rings through. Then I block, etc. So far, they have used 7851, 7859, 7861 and 7862.

Another unknown call.  Don't answer unknown calls or texts. Wish somebody would stop these a-holes.

Can you assign a silent ringtone to the number. Won't stop the calls but at least your cell won't ring.

Got the call today.  I couldn't take the call because I was in a meeting, but called back later.  A prerecorded message came up saying "If you wish to be placed on our Do Not Call list, press '1' now".  Thank goodness I read other people's comments.  I hung up rather than confirm I have an active phone number.  This could spare me lots of other spam calls in the future.

I don't even answer anymore.  Been getting flooded with these same calls for electrical deregulation and winter heating assistance.

Caller ID comes up as Newark NJ.  Recorded message about lowering your heating bill.  Calls almost every day and there doesn't seem to be a way to stop the calls.

caller id Winter Assistance. Same msg as LC above -- If without electric service, you're entitled to refund/assistance per Federal Law. A scam?  Didn't dare press any prompt.

Called ID shows "Winter Assistance."  Recorded message says if I was without electric service, I am entitled to refund/assistance per Federal Law. Tells me to press 1 for yes, 2 for no, and 0 for assistance.  Huge influx of spam calls these past 6 months, from many different numbers, and lots of phony names on caller ID.  Why isn't gov't forcing the telco's to shut down these spammers?

Pressing any prompt is something NEVER do.  It only informs the scammer that I have an active telephone number.

I report such calls as violations to the "Do Not Call Registry" and add the number to the "blocked call" list which is a feature of Optimum Voice.

Yet another oddball number that keeps dialing my cell. I will report to donotcall.gov. Don't know what else to do. When I answer no one is there. I did call back this number and got a voicemail recording.  It said if you want to be placed on their DO NOT CALL list, press 1. I pressed 1, we'll see if this works.  I have been inundating Verizon with requests to block these random unknown callers!!
